where do i start, went to this hotel going by the reviews on here, people saying its lovely,i was shocked when we got there,it was dead only ever 1 person around if you needed help, got to our room i was gutted but thought make most of it,there was me and my husband and 2 kids,we had to sleep in single beds all wk,the pull out bed was shocking, the rooms were dirty, had to ask for toilet roll everyday, cleaners came twice and just made the beds,we had electric shock off the lock on door due 2 faulty electrics, rooms were just awful and the pool is cold and small, the childs pool was way to deep for young kids to play in and the other pool was just full of young coulples playing bat and ball so kids couldnt play in there without getting hit by the ball, hotel is full of young people playing music every night,so not for familys at all, outside of the hotel is just a couple of bars that are dead, its lifeless, beach is only 5min walk but its a steep hill going down ok but its a hard climb up,when u=you do get to the beach it is lovely but its not sand its just a beach of broken shells that cut your feet no good for kids they couldnt even build sand castles, the sea is very rougth and cold, been to many places abroad and never been unhappy but this beach no good for kids, old town is nice and busy but more hills, gets very busy after 9 with young groups, were only in our early 30s ourselves just no good for familys fullstop.

Just come back from a great stay in Club Oceano, the info found on the internet was very true about a minutes walk from the beach and about 15 mins walk from the strip. The apartments were well furnished, the only downside is that the air conditioning wasn't that great, but may have been the room we were in. The service was good, the staff were very helpful and polite and was very clean and tidy. There was a hiccup when we arrived and they upgraded us to a 4* apartment in Vilamoura. We stayed there for a couple of days but the resort was very expensive and not as much to do there for the kids, so we requested to go back. They were very apologetic and accomodating and paid for the transfers, so feel as if we can't really complain about this. This was the first time we have been away abroad with the kids, aged 7 & 3 and would definitely go back to resort and apartment.

In september 2007 my partner and myself (me being 6 months pregnant at the time)spent one week at the Club Oceano. As neither of us had been in Portugal before I spent alot of time beforehand researching the various apartments. and being pregnant wanted somewhere comfortable and within walking distance to beach, shops etc. We booked the Club Oceaneo and have to say the location couldnt be faulted. Our rep Angela was fantastic and she took us into reception to check in, the receptionist took our passports and as soon as Angela was gone out the door they proceeded to tell us that they were having some problems with their lower apartments and that we would have to stay in their sister hotel, I just thought ok we will check out this sister hotel and see what it is like I think it was called the Perloco or something like that. What a disaster it was very dull, drab and much much further away from the beach etc. I was so disappointed but it was late on a Sunday night and we said we would stay there for the one night. First thing next morning we got a taxi back to the Club Oceano (which we paid for) and I said I wasnt one bit happy that I spent ages researching accommodation and their sister hotel never came on my list of possibilities. Anyway to cut a long story short we met with our rep and she sorted eveything out for us, seemingly they were having no water problems at all! I was just thankful that we had gone through a travel agents and not booked independantly as I felt then we couldhave just been moved and not been able to do anything about it. We stayed in a studio and it was lovely, bright and airy! I would definately go back it was spotless and we even got a big bowl of fruit complimentary ( I think it was their way of apologising). On some holidays we have booked independantly but I guess its just something to keep in mind from now on.

My wife and I, both seniors, spent a most enjoyable two weeks at Club Oceano. The staff were, for the most part, excellent, especially front desk clerk Maria.
Our apartment was immaculate and cleaned every day. I looked around the various rooms and did not find a flaw anywhere. The white painted walls were spotless and the marble floors were immaculate.
Our only complaint would be the beds, which are very hard, compared to our own here in Canada. This is normal for European hotels. We finally took the foam pads from the sofa and put these under the sheets and from then on had great sleeps.
This trip was our seventh vacation in Portugal and we would both say it was the best.
The weather co-operated fully. The food is excellent in ANY restaurant you would like to try. Wine $1.25 to $1.75 a glass, beer $2.00 for a large stein. You can't go wrong, in our estimation.
We recommend Club Oceano whole-heartedly. Ours was apartment #401. Which provided us with a wonderful view of the surrounding area as well as the ocean.
All balconies face the ocean. The location of the facility is the best by far, as it is central to everything, beach, shopping on the Strip, restaurants, etc.

Stayed here for a week. Was supposed to be in 4* sister hotel called the Perola de Albufeira but got moved to this 3* instead. They told us it was nicer than Perola hotel and that it was 4* but it wasn't.
Location was the only better about it. Spacious living room which was needed cos there was only 2 beds for 4 people. Sofa/bed was very uncomfortable. Air conditioning worked ok, could have been a bit cooler and quieter. Would agree with other comment about bathrooms needing updating. The rooms were clean and we had plenty of clean towels. Only cleaned half the dishes because we weren't told to check out at 12pm until 1pm phone call and we were in rush, no €100 fine though.
Receptionist was nice about us checking out late, she was anxious to get the cleaners in which is a good sign for the next guests. Pool was ok there, good temperature but the snack bar was very expensive compared to most other places and they microwave nearly everything except chips, got pizza & burger from microwave, disgusting. Also there were no pads on the bottom of our chairs which led to guests below making complaints about the screeching noise but they had them in other rooms, we were told this would be rectified the next morning but we were too ****ed to answer the door. Most staff were fairly helpful in arranging taxi's etc. We got free breakfast for being moved from 4* to 3* but it wasn't great either. Would recommend it if you get a good price.

Have just returned from an 11 day holiday at the Clube Oceana, and must say, that we will definitely be revisiting.
We have an 8 year old and the accommodation was extremely family friendly, spotless spacious accommodation situated in a really lovely spot.
We found it easy to walk into the old town, also we caught a taxi organised by the reception staff to the nearby strip too.
The sandy clean beach is just a short walk away too, which again with children is useful too.

We stayed at this hotel apartment Mar 4-27/07 and generally satisfied with the accommodation and location. The only disappointment was that we were told that our suite was on the second floor of the hotel but actually the second floor below ground level and one level below pool deck would have been more correct.
Having been told all rooms enjoyed an ocean view was totally incorrect, we seen nothing but feet walking past our room on the pool deck. I don’t recommend these rooms what-so-ever, pay the small extra and get on the 3-4 or 5th floor. The hotel was very clean but be aware the staff do not clean your kitchen area and if you check out of the hotel and leave a dirty kitchen, unwashed dishes etc you will be assessed a penalty of $100.00.
Our receptionist Maria Carma was an excellent help to us. She spoke English very well and helped us out on a number of occasions, always smiling and joking, a very nice lady. For a good meal very close to the hotel I recommend the Chicken place at the top of the hill from the hotel.
Owned by a very young couple just starting out in life and we enjoyed many an excellent meal with them. Overall we found all of Portugal the cleanest country we have ever visited. Never in 3 weeks did we ever find a dirty bathroom in any cafe, hotel, shop and their streets are all immaculate. I would recommend Portugal to any person asking.

Thanks to the other review on this site that convinced me to book the Club Oceano.
The apartments provided the perfect location for us, right between the old town and the strip. Within walking distance to both. Yes it is a bit of a hill back from the old town but that’s The Algarve in general!
The lovely Sao Joao beach is a couple of mins walk (down hill like most beaches in the area) and you can walk all the way along in to Albufeira and Fisherman’s Beach.
We had a ground floor room which was perfect for nipping in and out when you are round the pool. The studios are bigger than average and well equipped - toaster, microwave, oven and coffee maker, TV and large dining and sitting area. The only mirror is in the bathroom, I just used the mirrored patio door. The terrace was also very spacious.
The staff are very friendly and efficient - our patio door wouldn't lock one night and they were very prompt in getting it fixed.
The only reason I have given 8 and not 10/10 is the bathrooms could do with updating, but they were very clean and I would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Just returned from a 10 day holiday at the Club Oceana apartments, the apartments were very clean, and had maid service every day, (clean towels etc). Hotel staff very friendly and helpful, only complaint which will affect the ladies, no mirrors in the apartment, only in the bathroom, so girls take a mirror.
The hotel is situated in between the old town about a 15 min walk, (but quite a hill on the way back) and about a 15 min walk from the strip.) But if you chose to get a taxi it is only 3euros. So not bad. Had a lovely time beaches are beautiful, and food is quite reasonable, but you must try Luigis, a Portuguese restraunts at the top of the strip on the left, guarantee you cant eat all of the ham on the bone!!!!. Would definitely go back to Albufeira as we had a lovely time. Happy holidays.
