)My daughter and I have just spent a week at Cerro Malpique 1 and found it good value for money. The accomodation is clean and reasonably comfortable, though it is in need of updating(especially the pool) but the location excuses any faults. Going down the steps to the square... more

We booked this holiday last minute and the reviews for this apartment were very good, however there are two different buildings, Cerro Malpique II and Cerro Malpique I, but both are listed as one review. When we arrived we were allocated Cerro Malpique I, dont be fooled by... more

We loved these apartments. Our room was very nice, overlooked the pool. The pool is small, but was adequate for the amount of sunbeds there was. And there is toilets under the pool area, which were handy for our last day! Lidl is only approx 8 mins walk away, and the bridge... more

I stayed at Cerro Malpique 11 mid October 2007 with my parents and aunt. Just wanted to say that the apartments were excellent - probably the biggest and most modern that we had visited in some time, and we generally go on 2/3 holidays a year. It was great to have a... more

We stayed at the Cerro Malpique during the 1st week of September, apartment was lovely, really clean and spacious. The guys at reception were great really impressed at how down to earth they were. Only facility is the pool, no night time entertainment there, but all that... more

Quiet area away from the busy town. The town was a 10 minute walk away down some steps. The apartments were clean and had everything you needed. Plenty of free sun beds, no need to get up early to put your towels out (this may be different in high season) and there was even... more

We have just returned from the Algarve, staying at the Cerro Malpique 1 apartments. I was very well pleased with the accommodation. Very well equipped with everything one needs even a dishwasher although I do not know how to use one. The only drawback was the steep steps... more

We stayed here a few years back on a family holiday this included a 14 year old. I have to say that although the accommodation was basic the standard of hygiene, and service we received was fantastic. We were made aware of the hill that it was on hence the name of the... more

I also have stayed at the Cerro Malpique I and have to say that it was possibly the nicest holiday I've had, and I have been on many holidays to many countries. Yes, the apartments are based on top of a steep climb - I do believe this is explained in the brochure. We... more

I am back from Cerro Malpique 1 a few weeks now but just had to say that our apartments were basic but all you do is sleep and shower there as you are out all day. I agreed with the last comment about the cleaners being noisy but I didn’t complain as they were very polite... more

We have just returned from a week in Cerro Malpique apartments and I can honestly say this was the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. The basic problem was continual noise from the second we arrived until we left. We arrived at around 23.00 looking forward to a... more

Relaxing setting
Just arrived back from cerro palpique 1 apartments this morning, and what a really enjoyable week i've just had. The old town was beautiful, with the kind of friendly, mellow atmosphere you would hope to find if you're wanting a stress-free holiday. The trek up and down the "mountain" was a bit tough on the old knees, but if you're relatively fit, then it should be no bother. If, on the other hand, you are unfit, it's a good way to burn the cals, hehe!! I wouldn't recommend the strip on the new side of albufeira, unless you like souvenier shops, although the sizzling stone restaurant was a real find!!! The beaches were great, the food filling, the people friendly and the holiday, smashing!
great place steep hill!!!!!
Just arrived back from alovely relxing two weeks in Portugal. We stayed in the Cerro Malpique apartments which were clean and well kept. The only downer on the accommodation was the steep hill on which it is situated. This hill was a work out every single night. The reception staff were helpful and on call 24 hours a day. I would advise eating in the old town area which is closest (especially a ruina on the beach... excellent seafood!!!) rather than the extremely touristy strip. All in all it was a great holiday and comes highly reccommended (except for the hill!!!!)
Albuferia
Just arrived back from my first stay in Portugal at the Cerro Malpique Aparthotel. The aparthotel was lovely, clean and close to the nearby square. The reception staff were extremely helpful. I would recomend this anyone. The food in the square was quite expensive, but we managed to find a italian restaurant called Bella Italia in the strip which did the most amazing pancakes!!! The hotel was quite a walk away, so we walked them off!!! A 3 course meal for 2 including drinks was probably in the region of £25.00. Can't wait to return!!! The port is dirt cheap as well and absolutely lovely!!!
Enjoyed the peace and quite
Just Arrived back March 14th 2004. My wife and I had a very relaxing time at the Cerro Malpique Aparthotel. This is are third visit here and we have allways been very satisfied with the standard of accomodation, and friendliness of the management and staff. I can thoroughly recommend this location. Excellent value.
Great Trip
Just returned from 2 weeks in Cerro Malpique 2. Thought they seemed a lot nicer than Cerro Malpique 1 with a quieter pool area and more modern exterior. Apartments were very clean and well set out and although were set up a hill it was far from impossible to scale with our family managing the climb every day with little difficulty. Loved the square, in particular the sword swallower and characaturist who provided the entertainment. Overall a great trip and I would have no doubts about recommending these apartments to anyone.
The efficient and clean Malpique
The Cerro Malpique was clean, tidy and quite. The pool was on the small side and not particularly good for young children - the surrounding areas were very slippery when wet. The reception staff were friendly and their spoken english was very good. Any problems were dealt with very swiftly (no towels when we came back from the beach on one occasion). The walk (or should that be climb) back from the town centre / beach was very steep. The town centre (the Square) was very nice except if you wanted a good meal. The menues were the same and had been cut down to a price. Consequently, the food was not that good. If you are vegetarian, expect to live off veg. pizza, chips and eggs (they are not big on vegetables). The best places were only a short walk from the Square. If you want a very good meal, try Anna's high up above Fishermans beach.
Cerro Malpique
Just come back from 2 weeks staying at the Cerro Malpique. Apartments nice and clean, and area very quiet. The Old Town is a 5 minute walk down the steps and it is beautiful, with lots of bars, restaurants and shops around the square. There is street entertainers and live music all evening. The food and drink was reasonable but much cheaper at the New Town (The Strip)Apartments have kettle, toaster, full oven with 4 rings and even a dishwasher. Only disadvantage is there is no bar in the hotel, but please note there is a Lidl supermarket 5 mins away which is very very cheap. Would definitely go back.
Rip off Hols!
The worst holiday one can have, the apartments are better suited for Mr & Mrs boring, with the apartments being in the middle of no where....and I mean no where. Shops and bars are stated by travel agents to be a 5 min walking distance.. Ha Ha...got to get taxi! walking back to the apartments from the main square you meet (heart attack hill) will only suit only qualified mountain climbers. Now Albufeira with the euro the main square where you will first visit will straight away rip you off, a meal for 4 will set you back 45 euros/beer 4 euros! and until you finally find you're Bearings a meal in the back streets will cost around 25 euros (keep an eye out for the junkies). We spoke to a few people who visited and people who run English bars all quoted a similar view to this write up and one English bar owner has even told his friends not to visit Albufeira for a holiday!!
Cerro Malpique
Quiet location on the hillside above old town Albufeira. Lovely views from most rooms. Good standard of accomodation, and no problems at all with the apartment. 5 min walk down steep steps to old town square, where there is plenty of bars resturants and shops.Beach is a further 5 mins walk from town square. Pool is small but well looked after. I would definitley stay there again,as it is quiet at night but only a short walk to the lively atmosphere in the old town. Reccomended for families, but steep climb back up from the town.
Albufeira ; Cerro Malpique Aparthotel
I stayed in Cerro Malpique in Albufeira's old town in August 2002. I had an absolute fantastic time. Cerro Malpique was friendly, clean, reasonably quiet and in a brilliant location (just up from the square in the old town). The beach and restaurants were all within ten minutes walking distance. I would recommend Albufeira and Cerro Malpique for anyone looking for a fun but relaxing break in the sun! :-)
