Hotel public areas lovely clean and well staffed. Food very good, just coffee in the morning only warm even when you ask for hot coffee. All inland view rooms are very noisy due to road, racing bikes and karioke. If you can afford it book pool/sea view room then you will... more

The Mediterranean Beach Hotel will suit all types of people. There is a large two tier pool which offers a great place to cool off from the lovely summer sun. However there is also the beach which is just a 2 second walk down the path. We have been to this hotel many times... more

Good points Bad points in my opinion
I stayed in the hotel with my family, we booked a sea view quadruple room whic was two single bed , one extra bed and one sofa bed. The thigs I liked in this hotel: - The stuff was very friendly. - The bus station is gust at the left corner of the hotel. - The hotel beach was very nice and clean. - The food was very delicious . The things I hated in this hotel: - The AC was very noisy it was like a Helicopter above my head. - The bathroom shower was not working propebly.
What a shambles
I booked this hotel via www.travelrepublic.co.uk and paid for my room via the website too. On arrival last Thursday, I gave my booking receipt to the gentleman on reception, who then proceeded to tell me (without making eye contact with me) that as the hotel was fully booked, they were sending guests to the hotel next door, the Elias Beach Hotel. This hotel I know to be very old, run down and not a 4Star but a 3Star. As you can imagine, I caused a scene and argued with management for over an hour until they found me a room at the lovely Miramare hotel instead. Another member of staff there told me that this happens on a daily basis, they take our bookings and our money and then try and stick us in the disgusting hotel next door. However, as I was leaving, a very wealthy looking Russian couple walked in and they were found a room straightaway!!!
Excellent value
Excellent staff. Food for a Buffet style dinner was as others have reported, very good. Good breakfast too Excellent public areas and luxury suite we rented was very nice with good air con, sat t.v. with tea and coffee making in room. Great pool with enjoyable swim up bar But smoking allowed at swim up bar and therefore allowed in pool!! Cigars were also smoked in outside restaurant We tried a few of the restaurants outside the hotel for lunch and whilst we agree that the hotel is slightly more expsensive, it was worth it On days when there is a wedding at the hotel ( 3 times in our 1 week stay) some of the grass areas, adjacent to the pool were cut using noisey motor driven mowers from 3.45pm . Far too early. Together witn great flights from Monarch we had one of our best summer holidays, really relaxed. Beware!! chicken served both inside hotel and in restaurants outside was often pink and in our opinion under cooked. We sent it back in outside restaurants, only for it to come back pink inside again!
Mediterranean Beach Hotel has the WOW FACTOR!!!
I have just returned from the Mediterranean Beach Hotel in Limassol. The Hotel has been refurbished recently.I cannot fault the hotel at all.I am a travel agent and have been lucky to stay in some of the worlds finest hotels.I would certainly put this hotel in one of my favourites. The staff at the hotel are polite and friendly and it comes across that they enjoy the work. The hotel was wonderful lovely rooms, restaurant, gardens, pool area. The food was excellent and the desserts to die for, only trouble is the extra weight put on because I could not decline the desserts, I could not find anything to fault at the hotel and would definately want to return at some future date.
Great holiday
Can't fault the hotel. Clean, well maintained, good facilites. The thing that made it stand out was the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. From senior management to chambermaid everyone smiled. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The waiting staff made mealtimes as much a pleasure as the excellent buffet food. On the subject of food, no limp lettuce and soggy lukewarm stews here - trays were changed regularly, salads were fresh and crisp, everything was well cooked and well presented, and the rotating themed menus made sure that even after a fortnight there was no danger of food fatigue setting in. There were never any difficulties finding sun-loungers, mainly due to generous supply thereof around the pool, on the lawns and the beach. The German problem didn't occur - in fact the only people who wound me up at all were whinging Brits! My only criticism - organised daytime activities were thin on the ground and the evening entertainment of variable quality, but I believe this is par for the course for Cyprus cf. other Mediterranean resorts.
want to go back!
We stayed at the Mediterranean last September and my boyfriend and I couldn't fault it! We arrived early in the morning and were greated by friendly staff who took us to our room, with a lovely see and pool view. The breakfast is beautiful! A really good selection, we were spoilt for choice, a chef prepares omlettes and waffles to order outside, which we took advantage of. On the first night we had a meal at the restaurant overlooking the pool, my boyfriend booked us in at reception and when we arrived were given the best table in the restaurant! the food was very nice, buffet style but lots of choice. The pool bar food is lovely also, all cooked fresh on order, no greasy burgers in sight! little expensive but worth it we would say. We would recommend going on the full day catamaran trip, all drinks and food included, plenty of stops for snorkelling which I really enjoyed, my boyfriend not so much! you need to get a bus to the centre as the hotel is a bit out of town, although Franx bar which is opposite is great and we had plenty of nights there kareoke-ing! for which every song you do you get a free shot! not such a good idea the next morning! really friendly staff there and the foods good too! also amazing cocktails. Shakespeares bar futher in towards Limassol is great aswell, brilliant cocktails and food aswell and very friendly staff! Overall we couldn't fault the hotel at all, didn't want to leave and I am just on the internet searching for next years holiday and we are very tempted to just book to go to the Mediterranean again! we enjoyed it that much!
Good Hotel especially for Families
Stayed here for 2 weeks from 8 August 07 and really enjoyed it. Good points, very clean and helpful staff. Great swim up bar and pools in genral. Hotel has good facilities for kids and considering how expensive the UK is it was reasonably priced from our perspecitve. Being slightly critical I would suggest that the bath rooms are starting to get a bit tired. Recommend the following. Take a pool or sea view as you may get a room facing the main road - pay the extra. Would not hesitate recommending it to friends - however, having stayed at Paphos and Protarus - had it not been for the hotel I would have been disappointed at Limassol. The hotel has about 70% of the Guest coming from Russia - so don't look for warm and enchanting fellow guests from Russia!
Excellent hotel - would definitely return
We have just returned from a two week stay at the Mediterranean Beach Hotel and were very impressed overall. The hotel itself is very clean. Communal areas were always very cool which is essential with a 37 degree heat outside. Rooms definitely of a 4 star standard. We paid for an inland/garden view room but were very pleased to discover we also had a part view of the sea. Many reviewers have mentioned the noise from the road but with the patio doors closed we weren't really disturbed by this. The only small complaint about the room was we had one which is also used as an interconnecting room for larger families, which meant there was a door leading to the next room (which was of course locked). The noise between the two rooms therefore travelled very easily. This didn't bother us until the last few days of our holiday when it seemed like our neighbours were up all night having a party! Pool areas were excellent, always plenty of sunbeds to go around. Staff at the pool bar very friendly and helpful even when they were very busy. There is even a shaded pool for children. The private beach is very good and there are plenty of watersports available for a reasonable price. We would definitely recommend swimming in the sea in the afternoon as the pool becomes very warm in the afternoon sun - almost like a bath! There is also a lovely cool indoor pool that you can cool down in. The Spa is lovely but some of the treatments seem a little pricey. However the manicure and pedicure are excellent value for money at CY£15 and CY£16 and you get treated like royalty! The bars and restaurants in the hotel are, as you would expect, more expensive than those outside. Other than the breakfast we did not eat in the hotel so can't comment on the standard of food but it certainly all looked impressive. The hotel is quite a distance from the centre of town but there are plenty of bars and retaurants in walking distance. We were especially impressed by an Italian restaurant a few door down from the Four Seasons, 'Il Sapore', excellent food and sevice. We went back four times! 'Franx' right opposite the hotel is great for lunch and offers a bigger selection than the hotel bar. As other reviewers have commented, not many of the hotel guests are English, we'd guess about 25%. We also found that some of these other guests lacked common courtesey - getting barged past when holding a door open for someone, or getting a door shut in our faces was pretty common place. But this by no means spoilt our holiday!! Overall, excellent hotel and we would definitely recommend to couples and families alike.
Not disappointed
Second visit in successive years to the Mediterranean Hotel. Stayed for two weeks in July (see earlier review from July '06). Wasn't disappointed and here's why.. • location - hotel on beach with water sports; quiet and relaxed but a few quality and reasonably priced restaurants nearby. Not much nightlife in Amatheus area - go into tourist area if that is what you want (taxi £4-5 each way) • people - about 30% from UK (40% Russian and 30% local); mostly more middle class families who were looking for quality accommodation without too many noisy children or boorish adults. Hotel has an air of 'calm' about it • accommodation - good quality fittings and furnishings, clean and everything well maintained; atrium lovely and cool and well appointed. No noise roadside as double glazing (twice) prevents any disruption to sleep. However, sea view/pool view is spectacular and worth the extra cost • service - again staff polite helpful and hard working. Be patient you are a foreigner in their country! • facilities - swimming pool area spotless; lifeguard vigilante; plently sunloungers all day; excellent spa and squash courts, etc., available; table tennis and video games for teenagers, etc. However, need to show some balance in this review: • hotel bit expensive for food and drink. We stayed on B+B basis (breakfast OK - what you might expect from 4 star but not 5 star) and ate out at lunch and nights but other guests felt hotel meals not always what they might have expected • Cyprus very hot and humid this year and can be uncomfortable for some Overall, wife and son and I had very relaxed break. Son (10) made friends with several other good kids and had great time. Acid test - would go back again to repeat my holiday experience.
Staying for a third time
We returned to the Med Beach for a third time and once again enjoyed ourselves very much. The hotel is situated to the eastern strech of Limassol some 45 minutes travel from both Larnaca and Paphos airports. Due to some excellent road construction the drive is very pleasant indeed. In fact for those who know Limassol well, the by pass which has frustrated many for years with a number of congested roundabouts, will be pleased to note that elevated motorways have reached Cyprus now making travel much easier. As always reception staff were excellent, a small tip I would suggest is to try and arrive as early as you can as on several occasions I noted that the queue appeared longer in the evening. Oh yes and remember to book a sea view room, the view is truly outstanding. If you decide to book a road side view, you may have some late night karioke for company, its up to you. The 3 pools are very good and sun beds are always available, there is no need to place towels on beds early in the day, there is space for everyone, even on the busiest of days. We stayed on B&B and enjoyed a thoughtful variety of breakfasts but I returned my coffee on several occasions because it was cold, the problem being that they bring in pots of tea and coffee at 50 pots a time so they can get cold, don't think I am being unfair here. Mind you the waiting staff were very good and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are very good and have had some modernisation although they need to decide whether blue or brown is the lead colour. If I was a betting man I guess they are half way through a new upgrade programme. The TV options for Brits was excellent with BBC ITV and Sky, which was nice when waking up ar getting ready to out in the evening. The external colours of the hotel need looking at because the colours they have chosen are not good. The hotel bar was very good but more expensive than the local bars over the road. However the service was very good and the cocktails were outstanding. We chose to eat in a variety of places and found the excellent 'Kissos' taverna over the road ,met most of our needs. Typical warm cypriot hospitality, good food, service and reasonably priced. Car Hire was very reasonable which we had for 12 days. On our last day we took a bus down to the old port area to St Andrews street which provides all the souveniers of Cyprus that you will need, cost is 80 cents each way, busses are plentiful. Previous contributors have mentioned the many russian people who stay here, like all, most are pleasant enough but I am sure you know the european views on queues.... Overall a very enjoyable experience with only a couple of minor issues, remember if you have a problem, tell Reception and they will help you, just be patient, remember although they all speak good english, it is not their first language, so go steady and you will find nothing is too much for them. As return visitors it is always nice to be greeted and made to feel special by staff that do their very best to make your stay an enjoyable one. So its back next year then.
