only a 2* hotel
from sunisland
Booked allocation on arrival 4*T. Have stayed at other 3 & 4 * in Cyprus this is neither. Rooms grotty, toilet bowl moved and bathroom flooded, air cond noisy, pool area filthy, staff rude, etc etc. Paid another £435 just to get moved. This hotel is being closed down for a total rebuild. It needs it.
fantastic

23rd August 2006 We are seasoned travellers aversging 2-3 holidays a year Absolutely fantastic holiday All hotel staff very pleasant and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble in fact they bent over backwards to be of assistance. The food was to a very high standard and an amazing choice every day. The pool was the most inviting one that we have ever swam in. the whole place was so clean and tidy. The "First Choice" rep (Jim) was probably the best rep that we have ever had, as with the rest of the staff was very courteous and extremely helpful. We can't understand how anyone could give this hotel a bad review. The one and only downside was the location but this did not spoil even one minute of our stay. We Will return to the Atlantica at some time in the near future Jim, Glenda, Rheanna, Amie & James weston Super Mare England
Great Holiday
from Kezlop
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Atlantica Hotel and have to say that it was one of the best holidays we have had. The wonderful weather helped. I have never been one for being tied to a hotel, but with so much entertainment and a wonderful pool there was very little reason to leave the complex at all. Our 6 year old daughter made the most of the Kids Clubs and the Entertainment Staff produced an excellent variety of shows in the evening which kept the kids (and us) amused and meant you could always have just one more cocktail before having to retire to bed!! The staff were friendly throughout, the complex was very clean and the food in the dining room was excellent (we stayed on a self catering basis but paid to eat in the restaurant a couple of times). When we did eat out we found that there were a number of excellent restaurants within walking distance and as the evening entertainment didn't start until a little later we could always get back in time for that. The rules around non reserving sunbeds before 8am were completely ignored and as it was during the school holidays I often had to get up at 7am to make sure that we had something to lie on. Its a shame but everyone has to resort to this as otherwise there were not enough. We did find that the situation improved dramatically during our second week as the school holidays came to an end. Overall an excellent holiday and with the plans for the hotel next year, to include a rebuilt pool with slides and a man made beach, I am fairly certain we will be back.
really good holiday
from lisaaa
We started our holiday on the 22nd july and went away with my partner, familiy and and my younger brother. Rooms was of a nice standard and we had a great view of pool. we arrived as H/B but after first day decided to go all inclusive after seeing an offer. this was a great option. Pool was lovely. but after a week of being there when the hotel started to get busy we found ourselves getting up at 5.00am to put towels on sunbeds if you didnt you would not get one. staff and entertainment were brilliant. different shows every night. and great for kids as there were kids disco. only problem with night time entertainment was trying to get a table. its a very small room for size of hotel. Loads of selection of drink, plenty of cocktails and local beer is nice to drink. there is a great pizza place on pool area but if your all inclusive you only get it from 3pm there worth the wait. buffet at night was good plenty of option but after being there a week you get a bit fed up of pork and beef. outside hotel there is not much to do. beach is poor but if you travell a bit further down there is a nice little stretch of sunbeds and watersports there. we still did eat out a few times, at a great restaurant further up the road called shakesperes. do great english food. Really enjoyed the holiday would go back.
Great Holiday
from juliegt
We just returned home (yesterday) from a week at the Atlantica Hotel in Limassol. We have 4 children ranging from 14 t0 10 months so we needed catering for all ages. Firstly big mistake going in school holidays, first time I have but wont again, it was heaving with bigger kids which I know I have 2 of, but no good for little kids which I also have 2 of! I dont get up so early on my hols as I have late nights so getting a sunbed was impossible, and an umbrella never! People were out sunbathing and swimming so early! Pool area large but not large enough for the time of year, but due to lack of bins around pool area people would leave rubbish everywhere, although staff do go round clearing it up, not as quick as people are leaving it! Lots of cats, which I dont mind, but if you not cat lover dont go to Cyprus as they are everywhere. We were all inclusive which I am glad of, food of excellent quality, no complaints at all, and huge choice, and they also supplied baby food which I have never seen before. No problems with food, but getting drinks in evening was better to go to bar yourself, as if you wait for waiter service die of thirst! Simply because they do not have enought staff for amount of people. Lifts extremely small, we could not get in together. Rooms large and clean, we had 2 rooms with interconnecting doors so made ours massive, we hired a fridge for £10 a week which we needed for baby food. Staff very friendly and helpful, in afternoons would come round pool with fresh fruit etc. Location ok, plenty around it, bowling, small funfair, crazy golf, cinema etc but beaches no good. Did not venture out to eat so cant comment, but hired car for one day, lovely island, stopped in Limassol old town to browse shops, but like any tourist area really. Limassol is commercial and industrial area of island so not too scenic but excellent central base to expore island from. Entertainment in hotel 11 and 6 year old daughter liked mini disco, but actual animation team entertainment bit corny, although they work hard! Doing things all day for kids and in pool, so if you dont want to move plenty going on. All in all we had a great holiday and am looking to go back next year but in June, will not go peak season again, also Larnaka airport absolute nightmare to get through going home due to far too many planes and people. We moved 20ft in 2 hrs just to book in and was still booking in when our plane we due to take off, so had to be delayed!
Great Hotel Avoid The School Summer Holiday Season
from moiraann
The Atlantica Hotel is lovely, the food fab, the staff pleasant. The biggest gripe was a huge number of british holidaymakers with children, whom they let run riot throughout the hotel from morning till night, and the night time sunbed brigade, shame on all of you. All inclusive is the best value for money we've had at a hotel. Would recommend but don't go during the school holidays. Should add, the hotel closing in November for major renovations
Not good, go to a Hotel in Paphos instead
from LatedealAvoider
Booked as part of a Thomsons Late deal. Totally mislead, thought we were going to stay in 4T accommodation in Paphos as we've been to this area in a 4 star accommodation before and had a great time. Limmasol: Not a great deal to do. Not very picturesque. Very much over tourist-ised. A bit like a warm Blackpool. Too many English / Irish / British pubs & bars. How many Cyprus bars do you see down your local high street? Area was pretty unclean, with lots of litter and development work being undertaken. Sea was poor and quite murky at times, lots of litter on beach. Hotel: Very poor, have stayed in mostly 4 star+ on majority of my holidays. Thought I'd be safe with a Thomsons 4T.........wrong. Hotel locally listed as 3 star, but some of the facilities are strictly 2*. Arrived at hotel late evening, absolutely bedlam in hotel reception area. Lots of screaming kids and general chaos. Booked a 3-bed room, ended up with a 2 bed and a camp bed. Rooms are very small & cramped. No privacy on balcony area. First adventure into the bathroom was greeted by an infestation by the local ant population. Further inspection revealed the local ant motorway outside the door to the corridor. Phone call to reception resulted in copious amounts of ant killer to breathe during the very noisy first night. Air-con did drown out the din of slamming doors somewhat. Complaints to Thomsons rep next morning did not yield much success. Robot model answers just like the training manual says. Took my complaints to manager, and finally got moved across the road to the Hotel annexe. The Atlantica Gardens. Much more pleasant accommodation and a nice view to boot. Why not there in the first place, who knows ? The small pool area fills up really quickly, mostly with Brits ignoring the "no reserving sunbeds" rule before 08:00. Towels are there from before 07:00, with the people strolling into the area around 12ish! This needs to be more strictly enforced along with a no smoking policy around the pool area. Apart from that the food was OK, nothing special but what can be expected from a "cattle class" all-in deal. Just a shame we had to eat at the Atlantica trough every evening. Breakfast was taken at the Atlantica Gardens, which was a much more pleasant experience. So to recap: Limassol 3/10 Atlantica Hotel accomodation 2/10 Atlantica Gardens accommodation 7/10 Thomson late deal 2/10
Better than expected
from Sherrie01
This was the first time I had been abroad. After reading all the of the reviews I had quite a few reservations. Well I needn't have worried. Hotel looks nothing from the outside, but go through the front doors and it is a totally different ball game. It has got marble everywhere and was exceptionally clean. Our room was adequate, everthing we needed, not that we spend much time in it. Pool area was great, however we did have to put our towels out at 6am to get a good spot. If you are prepared to do this then you should have no worries. The surrounding area isn't too great. There are a couple of beaches which have grey sand, however the sea was lovely to swim in. We went into the old town a couple of times on the no.30 bus which was really easy. Most of the time we stayed round the hotel. Our son loved the swimming pool and so did we. We upgraded when we arrived from half board to all inclusive (great value for money). If you are looking for a relaxing holiday by the pool then I could recommend this hotel, however I think this would be best just before the school holidays start. All in all this was a fantastic holiday
Not what we expected
from Scuzzlebutt
We stayed in the Atlantica Studios for a week in July. As self catering we had planned to only eat out in the evening but the lack of amenities meant we ended up snacking in Burger King or Macdonalds. All that was provided for cooking were 2 electric hobs, we discovered after buying breakfast food that you had to rent the toaster and microwave which we didnt feel was particularly fair and ended up living on toast for breakfast - made by holding the bread on 2 forks over the hob. The room itself was okay, it was clean with plenty of 'living space' for the both of us. We were disappointed not to have had the double bed we requested and the sea view was a tiny glimpse sandwiched between 2 hotels in the distance. The maid service was disappointing - in the usual hotel info left in the room it said that towels were changed every other day and bedding once a week, we arrived on a Wednesday and on the Saturday left our towels in the bath to be changed, arriving back at the hotel we realised the maid had just hung our old towels back up so we had to ask for more towels, and didnt have them changed again during our stay, our bedding was changed on the Monday night which hardly seemed worth it since we were leaving on Wednesday. Regards the general resort there isnt much to do or see, if you arent able to hire a car its difficult to get anywhere other than the Old Town by bus, we wanted to go to Paphos but the 'service taxi' would have cost approbx CYP£13.00 each both ways which we felf was too expensive. DONT go to the Limassol Zoo up the main strip unless you dont mind seeing bored, lonely and cramped looking animals, it was a disagrace and no wonder it only cost 80cents to go in. With regards restaurants a few people have mentioned Toscana Restaurant which was our favourite place to eat and went there almost every night, Shades restaurant next door provided us with Lasagne made with lasagne sheets, odd looking mince on one layer only and mousse-type cheese and a rather dry chicken chasseur, we complained and asked for the bill and noticed they had tried to charge an extra CYP£1.00 for the lasagne. All in all considering we only booked the holiday 3 weeks before and got an excellant deal I wouldnt recommend this holiday to anyone other than those that just literally want to lie by the pool all day and opt for half/full board so you dont need to leave the hotel complex which I think would make for a boring holiday anyway!
The Wedding Week
from abra886
My fiance and myself stayed 1-7 July 2006. The hotel was recommended through my travel agent so we went with it. Our week however meant we had little time to spend at the hotel as we had 28 family members posted at various other hotels for a wedding on the Monday. I read alot of reviews from this site before we left and found most experiences to be fairly spot on. The Hotel is tidy there is no doubt but it is extremely busy.If you want to sit at the pool you will have to be there early. We had breakfast at 0815 and the pool area was full even then. The food is excellent but one criticism,no sooner have you taken your last bite of food and enjoying the chewing and taste then a waitress comes and whips the plate away. The evening entertainment offered saturday night fever and abba on the thursday, friday and we were looking forward to seeing that. The reality is the entertainment hall is far too small for the number of guests and the singing appeared to be done by the reps in t-shirts! So we let ourselves be content to wander to our room every night and forget about what the hotel had to offer. Limassol itself is a bustly area, felt quite safe except for afew english drunks on tour. Watch out for the main road, everyone drives as a nutter,we saw a guy on a moped doing a wheelie on the wrong side of the road. All in all we enjoyed our holiday, the hotel is more for families than couples. Lots of hotels being built so the resort will only get busier in the next few years. We intend to travel to Cyprus next year but will probably not choose Limassol. Good luck!
Had 2 fantastic weeks at the atlantic oasis, from day one was treated superbly, room was comfy all the extras one would need rooms were spotless, cleaned every day, amenities were fantastic, pool was beautiful very clean and well maintained, plenty of activities for all to get... more
