Comments:  We were allocated an apartment on booking as my eldest daughter is 13 and classed as an adult, but what a stroke of luck! We had two adjoining rooms with two balconies, two TVs and a kitchenette, bit dated but clean, and maid service was great.
The apartments have their own pool a short walk through the gardens, which was quiet and sunbeds seemed to be available all morning, as well as a bar with a pool table and TV, lovely for a quiet drink, as the entertainment wasn't up to much at the main hotel.
Being half board, we had to walk across two roads and through a lovely but at night unlit pathway to get to the main hotel for meals, but the food was fantastic, the Cypriot desserts a must, wear something loose ladies!
The pool and other facilities at the main hotel were crowded and noisy, and I heard from other guests the rooms were not 4*.
We took the shuttle bus to the Fassouri Waterpark, which was great but the bus was awful and I would recommend doing the excursion or taking a taxi, (not much more expensive!)
Wanted to do the Famagusta and Turkish border trip, but I was told the two trips planned had Russian tour guides only!
Ventured to the beach but its dark sand and a bit of a trek, but on the way back the golden arches of McD's kept the kids going!
The staff were helpful but not overly friendly as in other parts of Cyprus, wouldn't recommend Limassol or the Hotel, but the Appartments were great :)

Comments:  The main reception area has been refurbished but the room we stayed in was awful. There was no hot water pressure for the shower and no hot water in a morning. The bath/shower taps were filthy and covered in thick lime scale. The toilet flush handle was also filthy and covered in thick lime scale. The bathroom floor was dirty with thick black dirt in the corners. We were lucky to have our room serviced at all - and then only got two towels - one hand and one bath - for two people.
At one point we had to buy our own toilet rolls.

The room was not at all clean and really needed refurbishing. Hotel reception staff were not interested and simply said our complaints would be passed to the House Keeper.

Parts of the poolside area would be cleaned with detergent by staff in the evening but we were alarmed the see the whole lot simply rinsed away into the pool.

All I can say is - if you are thinking of staying at this hotel - DONT

Comments:  We booked this holiday on a late deal and were delighted getting a four star deal paying a bit extra for the service. Having been to an excellent 2 star hotel the previous year we were very much looking forward to it. Being allocated on arrival we knew of the resort/hotel once arriving. Once arriving at the Atlantica in Limassol first impressions were ok, the hotel seemed clean, good restaurants/facilities, big pool and plenty of sun loungers.

The room was quite nice with air conditioning, TV, plenty wardrobe space, drawers etc. The balcony was good size, though no privacy screens meant we hardly made use of it. Kitchen area was quite poor and not even a toaster to hand, but maid service very good and room always clean. Overall we were expecting a bit more.

You need to get up at 6am to get a decent sun lounger even though signs say not before 8am. Pool was very good, hotel shop/bar ok. Quite a few cats hanging around pool area and plenty of ants too!

Hotel entertainment was good, and food in restaurant very good, (McDonalds next door as well!) Overall we enjoyed our stay but we think there is room for improvement so people do think they are getting the four star treatment.

Comments:  After an unpleasant coach journey we arrived at an average looking hotel. We weren’t greeted with drinks or even as much as a smile.

First impressions weren’t great and the room was a bit dated and not as good as hoped.
The pool is over crowded and pretty shabby.

All inclusive is terrible - the worst I have experienced! You have to get a ticket for your drinks and join a long queue with people who aren’t on an all inclusive basis, its very time consuming. At the pool bar you can only have particular ice creams, the ones that are included in the all inclusive deal.

Night life was ok - a bit rowdy in parts with a few undesirables spoiling it for younger families.

Staff: I don't know where to start. They were unhelpful, grumpy and down right rude.
The waitresses in the restaurant were particularly unhelpful and were more interested in having a chat than dealing with the customers.

Our Thomson reps weren’t helpful. They would show their faces now and again but didn’t' want to know if you had a problem of any kind.

Around the pool it was rather slippery and I witnessed a few people falling over.
It’s disappointing that this hotel isn’t on a beach also - and the beach that is a short walk away isn't very nice.

The food is terrible. Lunch is last nights left overs from dinner. We complained to the rep who said that she had never had a problem with the food before.

At the end of my week at the atlantica I was happy to be going home. Once at the airport we were made to queue outside in the heat of the day for nearly an hour. The Thomson rep just didn't seem too bothered, just so long as she was ok in the air conditioned entrance. This again, was another mark against Thomson.

This is an overall poor hotel with rude staff and all I can say is I’m glad we didn't book for two weeks.

Elena, aged 14

Comments:  Just returned from holiday where weather absolutely fantastic. Went on holiday with 4 children aged 2, 5, 5 and 12 - booked through Thomson. The younger children loved pool - Thomson Club not the best I have experienced - I think most days all the reps did was get them to colour in pictures and my twins were reluctant to return to the club after 2 trips there.

If you have teenagers they will find very little to amuse them in this hotel though apart from the pool and sunbathing. You had to be up especially early to "reserve" beds (some people were up as early as 5.30!)- even though rules say reservation of beds not allowed before 8am everyone ignored this and staff did not remove towels either. The hotel opens up its doors to the Atlantica Gardens which is self catering and means that the pool is exceptionally busy - too busy at times and if you turn up at 10 am hoping to get a sun bed for the day you can forget it.

All inclusive option meant that lunchtime meals had to be eaten indoors and only self catering or half board clients could eat at the pool bar between 12-3 which was very disappointing. Not a huge selection of snacks either apart from Pizza (limited choice of Pizzas as well).

There were cats at the hotel although very tame. I did not like the fact that the cats were up on the chairs at the pool bar and sat watching people eat waiting for food to be handed out - however I certainly did not experience any urine smell.

Parts of the hotel are in desperate need of an upgrade - the part of the hotel we were in had one small lift to service over 100 rooms - certainly kept us all fit as we ended up walking up and down 4 flights of stairs on daily basis. Rooms are basic and they could also do with a bit of a facelift.

The service in evening for drinks was slow and I could only see about 2/3 waiters busily running round taking orders. My advice would be to order more than one round at a time - that way you will make sure you always have a drink.

There is limited air conditioning in the public areas of the hotel - in some parts of the hotel the air conditioning is too fierce whilst in others it is non existent. Evening entertainment was fantastic - all down to efforts of Claire, Debbie, Zoë, Kat and Michael - they seemed to work 24 hours a day and always put in an excellent performance. My kids loved them and my youngest took a particular fancy to Michael! They were certainly the best value for money and a real credit to the hotel. There were also nightly films put on - sound quality not always great and films not always suitable for family audience but did give a choice of entertainment at night.

Not a bad value for money holiday although if you are looking for an All Inclusive holiday, I would suggest you shop around - I did not think much of the location and I have certainly been to better 3* hotels for All Inclusive.

Comments:  Just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Atlantica Hotel & Apartments in Limassol with two teenagers 19 & 16. (Not to be confused with the Atlantica Bay and Atlantica Gardens although all Thomsons)

The hotel was very clean and our apartment was spotless with lovely views over the pool from our balcony. Maid service everyday, she even did the washing up for my two lazy teenagers. (Elena you were great!).

A few very small cats who lived on the complex but gave us no concern and there was definitely no smell of cat urine as previously mentioned.

All local amenities available within minutes of the complex, supermarket, taxi rank, bars and restaurants.

Thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. Highly recommended.

Comments:  What can i say i have been to this Hotel 9 times out of the last 10 years and absolutely love it. Having started to go in February 1997 we have slowly moved to going in early May which i find better as more business,s are open and the weather certainly gets better.

The Hotel itself is always friendly and very clean in particular Nicos the Bar Manager is a credit to the Hotel and has become a very good friend over the years. The £7cyp all inclusive option for drinks only is a bargain and one you should consider. After pestering Nicos to add Fosters in the bar it was installed while we were there. Also they are going to have extra cold put in within a Month. Both the indoor and Outdoor pools are very clean and sunbeds are easily obtained. You also have an option of lying in the garden area near the indoor pool.

We went self catering for the first time and found the freedom of eating when we want much better but having been Half Board on all of the other occasions i can also say the food is basic but fine should you take this option. The Atlantica is very flexible and you change your Board option almost daily to suit your needs. Limassol as a resort may not be the most plush but they have improved the beaches and roads alot over the years and is central to anyone who wishes to drive around the island as it is only 70 miles to either end of the island. Sadly a few years ago the Government changed the law and most bars now have to close at 2am but to be honest that did not inhibit us too much. Local bars inclde the Nags Head, Happy Jacks, Shakespeares, Jimmy,s and Fawlty Towers all offer a friendly welcome. Just down the road is the Cantone Restaurant which like most places offer a set menu from only £5.50cyp and is recommended.

We are already looking to book again next year and i cannot recommend the Hotel enough as although it has a 3 star rating it should be at least a 4 star but long may it stay at a 3 star and the prices to match. Enjoy yourself as i know you will. Update:- we have left going for a couple of years due to a major refurbishment going on which now my friend who recently (2007) went over tells me is finished and is even better now so we will now continue our love affair with the hotel

Comments:  I booked a last minute Thomson Pricebreaker Holiday for a 4Star Cyprus Hotel, for myself and my two grown up children.

The evening before we were due to leave, my daughter checked reviews on your website, and was anxious that one of the four hotels, The Atlantica, seemed to be of a much lower standard than the others, was overrun by cats, had dated decor, furnishings that smelt of cat pee, smoky atmosphere etc.

Imagine how we felt when we arrived at Paphos Airport to find that we had drawn the short straw and had been allocated the Atlantica! Thomsons would not change our booking because we had signed contracts etc. The only way we could be moved to another hotel was to pay a cancellation fee to the Atlantica and full brochure price at the other hotel. Well DONT PANIC if it happens to you!!! We ended up having a fabulous holiday.

We boarded a smelly old bus and went by the non-scenic route, with overcast skies to what we had now decided was going to be a nightmare!!

The location of this hotel is disappointing with lots of concrete hotels and construction work going on...and yes there are cats around (but even 5star hotels in the area have their resident cats). Yes the bedrooms are small and brown, and the dining room no more than you would expect on a package holiday.

However, the food is excellent and plentiful, the hotel is spotlessly clean, the cocktail bar is very pleasant, the pool area is lovely, the staff are fantastic and work very hard, and best of all the sun came out.

We were not happy in our room, so we immediately paid for an upgrade to a suite, and also hired a jeep for a few days so that we could see some of the nicer parts of Cyprus. All in all, it was great value for money and gave us that relaxing week in the sunshine that we were looking for.

Comments:  The hotel didn't look very much from the front and it didn't have a nice view. However the inside was ok and was always clean. It’s a very small hotel, and because we went in February we were very limited to what we could do. There was an inside pool, but was freezing and smelt! The entertainment was terrible and we were very bored.

However there were plenty of choices at meal times and the food was nice. However we were uncertain of where the all inclusive snacks were meant to be coming from, and didn't have any!

Room was very basic but ok. We had a balcony which looked onto lots of other apartments. Room was always clean.

Unfortunately won’t be returning there again.

Comments:  We went to the Atlantica hotel for one week that’s 2 adults and 2 children.
On arrival at the airport we were not there very long as they got our cases to us very fast and efficient.

When arrived at hotel after a 1 hour bus ride we were greeted by a very friendly porter who gave us all an ice cold fresh orange juice and we thought it was a nice hotel on the first glance in reception.

When we arrived in our room it was like a 1975 hotel it’s very dated and very well worn and all the rooms smell of stale smoke as we asked a few other couples if there room was the same.

This hotel will let you smoke where you want apart from dinner room. The smoke was unbearable in the evenings and as there are no form of extraction units, it’s hard to see the ceiling through all the smoke.

be warned there are cats every where and you don’t notice at first then when you take a seat in the downstairs part off the hotel it becomes apparent with the odour of cat urine.
Please if you think I’m just moaning then go for yourself its old and dated and needs renovating.... the only good thing about the hotel was the food and the staff.

Do yourself a favour and look for a nicer hotel in Larnaca or Ayia Napa. Anyone who thinks this is a nice hotel have not got there heads screwed on as I have been in other three stars hotels and they all put this one to shame.

Comments:  We have just come back from this holiday (this morning) and I was looking on the internet to book the same holiday to the same place when I come across this site and I had to put my own review on here.

We arrived on the 10/12/05 and stayed for just one week. We arrived in the airport and were in and out of there within half hour which was nice. Once on the coach it only takes about 50 minutes to get to the hotel.
Once there, there was a nice cold orange drink waiting for us before checking in and the checking in was so quick I hardly had chance to put your cases down.

We put our cases in the room and went to explore where we were staying and we were not disappointed in anyway. The hotel is classed as a 3* but I would put it more of a 4* plus. The view from our room was as you see it in the broachers and what you see when searching for the hotel on the internet and it really is that nice. The one thing I did notice was that it was a really double bed and not to singles you have to push together.

The hotel is kept in a very clean and high standard and is very well laid out. The food was really nice and everyone is catered for when it comes to the choice of food.
The staff are so friendly and will do anything for you.

As you enter the hotel there is a large reception area and an area for people to sit and chill the space is well managed and is open and inviting. There are 2 computes for people to check their emails, search on the internet or just play games, also there is an area where there are a few arcade games from pinball to racing games.

There are 2 bars; the first is next to the indoor pool and one in the main entertainment room. The first is a nice and relaxing room where people just sat and chilled they had live singing entertainment every night. The other is in the main hall where there is more lively entertainment from Mo-town sisters to Saturday night fever.

I have been on holiday before in the main seasons to many different places and have enjoyed the entertainment they have put on but this was our first holiday that is out of season so wasn’t expecting much as it wasn’t going to be that busy. I can truly say that I was so so wrong and the entertainment was outstanding much better than the holidays I had in the main seasons.

There are 5 main enetertainers at this hotel. There are 3 younger entertainers (Jackie, Adam and Jo) and they really did keep me entertained for the whole week. They are funny, charming and caring and keep you entertained from morning to night.

The first activity starts at around 9.30 in the morning and the last is about 3.30. The activities are also varied and interesting you could never get bored, just a few of the things you can do are water aerobics, Killer pool or even archery and that us just a few of the activity’s. Even when there are no activity’s the entertainers are there talking to you or making sure you know what show is on in the evening.

There are 2 other entertainers who are Fred and Rosie who dance the night away on some nights with ballroom dancing as well as other slow dances (wasn’t for me but shows that everyone will have something to do).

There is only 1 negative to this review. When you do leave and you have to check out your room there is no where secure to put your cases if you have an evening flight. Everyone places their cases in the arcade area which is open plan. I would have liked a secure room that could be locked just for peace of mind, but if you do have an evening flight book a late room like I did for that piece of mind that your stuff is safe and somewhere to freshen up before you do have to leave.

I have gone on a bit with this review but I really did enjoy it that much.

As well as the hotel and the staff the other thing that makes your holiday go really well are the people that you get to meet and we did meet some wonderful people and it just wouldn’t be rite not to include them on this review.
I know that they will also be looking to go back to this hotel and I hope we meet up again. Some of the lucky people like Paul and his wife Rupie (Not sure how its spelt) and Eddie (118) and his wife Jean are still there. Wish I was too. :-(

All I can say is a Big Thank You to all the hotel staff for a wonderful stay and a Massive Thank You to the 3 entertainers Jackie, Adam and Jo for keeping me entertained for the whole week.

If you are thinking of booking a holiday to this hotel then my advice would be STOP THINKING AND BOOK NOW.

Regards

Ray-Ray and Lesley

Comments:  We arrived on the 8th Oct 05 for one week and were a bit nervous after reading all the reviews but everything turned out fine!

We arrived ok - had no delays! The airport in Paphos is not very nice, on departing from Paphos there is not any eating places jus a little snack bar selling sandwiches and crisps (Even then there is only a few not enough to cover the amount of people flying home!)

I advise that you eat a proper meal at the hotel or restaurants before you leave for the airport.

Our transfer time from the airport was an hour and a half but it went quick didn’t seem that long. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with orange juice which was nice, I couldn’t really seen anything as it was quite late but we were shown to our room which was on the top floor and had a lovely view of the pool!

The hotel was very clean I never saw any bugs only them horrible thins that fly above the pool! The people were about everyday cleaning the pools and floors!! We used to get up at 8am an there were loads of seats!!

You had to be careful were to sit as some areas are shaded by 2pm! We managed to get sun beds near the pool and had sun till bout 4.30 then we would move to another area or our balcony as there was sun on it, there was always seats spare round the pool but maybe this was because we went in Oct I suppose in the summer it different!

The hotel was still busy for the time of year and it was very hot! There were loads of little kids and families!

The location of the hotel is very good as it is near restaurants and pubs within 5 min walk! There was a good pub across the road called the Nags head which we went in on our last night they have football on as well as music channels the people were very friendly.

It was true what they said about the cats there were quite a few! There are some little kittens which are so cute and I couldn’t stop cuddling them my boyfriend isn’t very keen on them and couldn’t stand them near us when we were eating but there not that much trouble!

The snack bar in the hotel is very nice serving everything from salads to burgers, we were self catering an I like it as you have a choice of were you want to go and when.

Where as in the hotel they had 2 time settings for dinner and lunch etc, which I don’t like the idea of, me and my boyfriend prefer to do as we please but if you have children I recommend all inclusive, there is a pizza express which does wonderful pizzas.

We never ate in the hotel restaurant but there are loads of lovely restaurants around the hotel and on the main road which is 5 mins away there was a nice one called Cantone, which done nice steaks and another one jus along from happy jacks, there’s also a nice fish restaurant across the road from McDonalds!

There is also an Irish bar there is so many to choose from - a 3 course dinner with drinks would come to about £35! Which isn’t bad!

We used to go back to the cocktail bar in the hotel which was very nice and the bar people were friendly there was a TV as well, also happy hour from 6 - 7 and 11 - 12 so we were getting half price cocktails!! Very good!

There was also a TV showing corrie and x factor ha-ha! We never really went to the evening entertainment as it was just mainly for kids!

Overall I enjoyed my stay here and will def be coming back esp in Oct as the weather is still very hot and it isn’t as busy!!

I recommend this hotel and resort to anyone it caters for families mostly but there were loads of other couple the same age as me and my boyfriend but also older people, if you are planning a holiday book this one!

Comments:  The last time we visited this hotel was august 2005, this was our 5th time at this hotel and we are booked to go back this year again (august 2006).

We have been going to Cyprus for 15 years now and having other holidays in between that, we have been to New York, Thailand, Jamaica, Portugal, canaries, most of the Spanish islands, Italy, etc, etc, and I must say out of them all we much prefer Cyprus to them all.

This hotel is far by our best choice as it caters for all and it is the type of hotel you can make it as quiet or as lively as you want, it has lovely relaxing gardens if you choose to have a relaxing break through the day where as around the swimming pool area is more livelier. Personally I cant fault this place and never hesitate to book it. For those of you’s who are going for the first time or are thinking about going do not worry at all as you will have a fantastic time believe me, don’t wait to long to book though as it is very popular and places go fast.

Anyone not sure of the resort they want to go to in Cyprus then I can also recommend Protaras, it is more laid back with lush beaches and ideal if you have got kids for safety. I would also recommend the golden star apartments, they are just about on the beach and are very spacious and well kept, they also do very good food at good reasonable prices.

You can book these apartments through Airtours or book through the net. Thank you for reading my review and happy holidays to you all.

Comments:  Arrived at Atlantica hotel mid-afternoon, party of six (71,66,38,38,8,4)offered refreshing orange juice.

When shown room seemed bit on small side for 2 adults and 2 children but after the initial disappointment was very pleased with hotel. Food was superb every night and morning. Everything from kids clubs, playgrounds, pool tables, internet and pool activities during day ideal to keep kids amused. Entertainment in evening for both children and parents, kids disco at 9pm, movie on every night for kids at 9.30pm.

Didn't venture far from the hotel on an evening, usually ended up in happy jacks over the road or the small fairground 5 mins away. Mini golf also 5 mins away. All in all great holiday, only downside was the cleaning staff were not very forthcoming with clean towels!!!

Comments:  Hotel was clean and modern, staff was very friendly. our air con did not work properly in our room however we were moved immediately.
there was plenty things for children.

hotel was just far enough away from all the noise of the main road and clubs but near enough to walk, there are no hills or lots of steps anywhere.
The main road by the hotel was not a problem during the day at night it got very busy but was not intrusive.

would definitely go again and use the same hotel.
