La Cachette Hotel Reviews
" Hotel was very good value for money,... "

Hotel was very good value for money, and very close to ski lifts which was great.
The only down side was the child care, (my daughter was 14 months old) the nursery was very full and not many staff.
Those who were there didn’t speak any English which made explaining things like my daughters routine and food likes/dislikes very difficult, plus she was the only English child there for most of the week.

" For Skiing accommodation, this hotel... "
Submitted By: Lost-who's-lost?
For Skiing accommodation, this hotel is probably the most luxurious hotel & best food we, as a skiing group, have experienced so far - therefore it is very good value for money.
We did however book this hotel with the childcare in mind as the hotel runs it’s own kids clubs & crèche. Unfortunately there is hardly any English spoken in the kids clubs, with only one man who can translate & not always available. This was distressing to the older children who couldn’t communicate and one of our little girls of 4 yrs was in a group of all French children.
Although the staff are very helpful (with lots of miming to try & get over the language barrier), they were in my opinion understaffed. I walked in one day to 1 carer & at least 6 babies all crying on the floor. My son was 18months & it was the first time that I’ve ever left him crying - he is used to crèches & I’ve never known him to behave this way. I had to put him down to sleep in the crèche before I could run away & collect him early afternoon , I worried about him until I could get to him & couldn’t enjoy my skiing.
Also for the older children the carers & ski instructors hardly spoke any English. One little boy in our group asked twice to go to the toilet & ended up wetting himself as they just kept saying wait a minute & didn’t attend to him at all. He even learnt how to ask in French, so we knew they understood!
Suffice to say I wouldn’t use childcare in this hotel chain again, but would stay in one & employ a British private nanny or try & use the Crystal run kids clubs (our experience of these are excellent).
