This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in, you cannot fault anything from the food to the staff, all were excellent, the staff go out of the way to make your holiday the best, the food is so varied and you can always find something to eat, one tip if you want to eat... more

Me and my boyfriend stayed at King Minos Palace last year and were very impressed, so much so that I am already anxious that this years holiday won't even come close to our stay in Hersonissos last year. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and on many occasions went... more

As we stayed here for one night only on route to our timeshare apartment in Koutouloufari, I can only give a short review. Check in went smoothly and the pleasant receptionist was astonished that we were only staying for one night. When we told her we were staying in... more

The hotel staff were fantastic nothing was a problem. The main resort was a 15 min walk away and 20 mins to the harbour. Lots of pubs and places to eat on the prom and the food was fabulous. Star Beach was just 5 mins away with foam party and live DJ in the afternoons... more

We have just spent a fortnight at the King Minos Palace and cannot find fault with anything. The hotel is spotlessly clean in all areas including the toilets. The rooms are excellent and are cleaned every day. There is also a fridge in the room which is great. The air... more

This was definitely one of the best, if not best holiday destinations I have been to. The King Minos Hotel was an excellent hotel in a perfect location across the road from the popular Star Beach. The staff were extremely friendly at all areas of the hotel, making our stay... more

A most relaxing holiday
This was a package holiday for 2 adults and a 10 year old booked through Portland Direct (Thomson Holidays). The hotel is just outside the busy ressort of Hersonissos and we deliberately did not go into town. However, our trip to Knossos was worthwhile for the history. The highlight in all the positive aspects of this hotel is the staff. They are friendly and cheerful and nothing is too much trouble. This is service with a smile at its best. The hotel is spotlessly clean. Our three bedded room was spacious, with a safe (extra payment) and fridge as well as TV. The air conditioning worked efficiently, which was much needed in the sky high temperatures. Our room was in a 'bungalow' where, I understand, the air con was more efficient than in the main building. However, I had no direct experience of that. The only drawback in our room was too few drawers. There were only 4 and they were small. There was wardrobe space. The en suite bathroom had an over-the-bath shower and we occasionally ran out of hot water. The food is well presented and very tasty with a wide choice. There is a definite international approach here, with an emphasis on Greek. The main swimming pool is wonderful and there were enough sunbeds for all - even at this time of year. There is a paddling pool for children. The Animation team was responsible for offering and running low key activities for both adults and children during the day and evenings. They were not pushy at all, which was a relief. Overall, an excellent holiday in an outstanding tourist and package holiday hotel. If I wanted to return to this resort then I would almost certainly stay here.
Not the one for us
Whatever people tell you, the King Minos Palace is not geared towards families, merely making token gestures. It is more suited to couples who are 50 plus who are looking for a quiet retreat from the hum drum of Hersonnisos (otherwise known as Blackpool!'). In our room the plug in the tiny bath (about 3' long) could not be prised from the hole, as the plug lifter was broken. The air con was inoperable, by both ourselves and the staff, until the technician arrived. After that it was barely effective, and had to be left on all day and night with curtains drawn and shutters down. The balcony french patio doors wouldnt lock, and the toilet door was similarly afflicted. On a positive side the food was of very good quality, mostly Greek dishes and plentiful as long as you were able to fit into the restricted mealtimes. Breakfast finishes at 9.30 and they actually start clearing away the buffet at 9.35, and laying the tables for dinner! There were steps everywhere, and some could not be avoided - eg the 30? 40? steps up to the hotel door. Not for those with mobility problems. In summary, not good for families, and only acceptable if you like a Basil Fawlty like routine, and then disappear for the rest of the day.
Fantastic Hotel
After just returning from the King Minos Palace I can honestly say what a fantastic hotel this was. The staff were extremely friendly, the food was brilliant (as was the choice - it was buffet style for both breakfast and dinner) and the pool and cleanliness of the place was amazing. It is a 5 minute taxi drive from Hersonissos costing approx €6.
Fantastic ! ! !
This hotel has everything you coud wish for. They are friendly and even cater to special wishes (as I'm a diabetic they made sure I could get a Coa Cola Zero, which is one of the few drinks I'm allowed to drink) although they normally don't carry this. The food is excellent and the rooms are nicely furnished. The animation is good and especially Kathleen is very friendly (although there were some problems/changes while we were there). We will certainly consider coming back here. Although we don't know if this will be possible as this hotel is not offered on the belgian market (we booked in Germany this year).
Our 5th Year
This is our 5th year at staying at this wonderful hotel the staff are so helpful and polite. we booked with Portland It is very clean and the food is good. Looking forward to next year
King Minos Palace lives up to its name!
Absolutley wonderful relaxing holiday. Quiet location (15 mins outside Hersonissos but excellent public transport). Hotel food fantastic- amongst the best I have ever had, hotel spotless. Staff helpful, friendly and knowlegable. Lovely pool which was always spotless. I would certainly visit this hotel again and would recommend it. The only downside was the flight but I would not let this spoil what has been a truly wonderful holiday. I found out about this hotel from this website and it was spot on!
Fantastic Hotel
This has been the best run hotel I have ever stayed in, the food was excellent, the staff magnificent, the cleanliness could not be faulted. everyone I met at the hotel had the same feeling and consequently everyone was so relaxed and friendly. It truly was a first class hotel to chill out because there were never any hassles. We had a lovely sea view room with balcony which was cleaned quickly and effficiently everyday, the pool was large and uncrowded, with plenty of sunbeds to choose from. Guests were banned from reserving them with towels before 9 am which was very refreshing and gave everybody a fair opportunity to pick their spot. The resort of Hersonisos was however not our cup of tea, a bit scruffy in places and untidy but the overall friendliness of the hotel and its wonderful animation staff such as 'Eileen' [enthusiastic but not pushy] made our two week stay an absolute delight!!!
Staff so friendly
We had a wonderful holiday. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. The food was excellent although they are maybe trying to please British and German tourists too much in the selection. The hotel is in a great position, the pool is very good, the rooms are clean but the best thing of all was the staff! They were always helpful and always had a joke when applicable and made you feel that they thought it a pleasure to make your holiday special.
Excellant Holiday
King Minos Palace... What a Hotel!!!! Very Clean, All the Staff are Extremly Friendly. I First stayed at King Minos in June/July of this yr for 3 Weeks with 2 other friends, We enjoyed it so much we went back for another 2 weeks at end of August. The rooms were all very spacious and clean. A safe key can be Hired from Reception for your stay at king minos if you require. The food is very good with a large variety being offered each night. The Pool is very Large and refreshing , there is also a little one for children.. I found this one good for reading in as it was just the right height not to get my book wet when sittin in it!!! Throughout the Day at the Pool there is an Animation Team(Very Friendly) who have organized activities such as Watergym Darts,Ping pong, Boccia and WaterPolo. They go round and ask if you wld like to join in but do not hassle you if u dnt!! I would recommend though as great way to spk to people. At night time there is also organized activites at the pool bar like quizes, karaoke, bingo and for the children Mini Disco. The Hotel it self is situated on a hill out of the main strip of hersonisis which is good as it means you can enjoy a good night sleep. It takes about 15 mins to walk to the far end of the strip but along the way there is lots shops, resturaunts and bars. The far end of the strip you cut down to the right and this takes you to more shops and the lively end of hersonisis as this is where most of the bars and clubs are that go on all night...Overall i would recommend this hotel for anyone as it caters to young and old.
Wow!
The King Minos Palace was an amazing hotel, it was perfectly situated between the hustle n bustle of Hersonissos but also in walking distance of a very quite beautiful long sandy beach. In a Little resort called Stallis! The Staff at the King Minos were awesome, especially the very friendly bar staff, also the reseptionists were always there to help you if the a a problem (which while we were there didn't happen once). As a young person age 14, the animation team was a great privilage to have, you meet lots of friendly people and the actual team were extremly friendly and by the end of the holiday we were exchangin email adresses and farwells. By the end of the holiday i was very dissapointed to be leaving but all good things have to come to an end(and hopefully bad ones come to an end as well)......
