" Great Hotel - Difficult customers "

We are a couple who decided to escape to the sun for a few days. We picked the hotel because it seemed to be in a good location and was resonably priced. We weren't expecting much but we had the most amazing time! The food is great, the rooms were clean and the staff were fantastic. A special thank you to brothers, Nick & Nick who were really friendly and attentive and not to forget Mikaella. A nice hotel with a great atmosphere, we will definitely be going back!

Advice: great staff

" Paradise which attracts strange guests "

First time in Cyprus and we definately go back because of the Paphiessa Hotel. Excellent staff, clean, perfect location and a great atmosphere have made our holidays unforgetable. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to visit a 3 star hotel in Paphos.
Don't pay any attention to the bad reviews. Due to the CHEAP rates this hotel gives to the tour operators it attracts CHEAP guests so they only want to make money out of it. Internet is the latest form of threat.
So please close your ears and visit this PARADISE.

" englezoi eiste garoi "

Booked 2 weeks at the begining of November 09, bit apprehensive having read the reviews but found our stay excellent. Staff were very good and always there to answer any queries you had. We had a couple of problems and was quickly sorted out, we stayed in a 1 bedroomed apartment which was excellent although cooking utensils where not adequate and need updating, but rooms cleaned every day and also towels changed daily. Room clean and tidy and never saw any insects in the room.
Would definately go back there again has you are close to all the bars and restaurants this was a warm and friendly hotel and enjoyed our stay. Down side not enough sunbeds unless you get up early to get towels on beds but preferred to go the the beachs instead which are just a walk away. Great to have the 9 litre water cooler in the room and would recommend purchasing one on arrival. Overall would recommend the self catering accomadations but did not see the hotel accomadations so can make no comment

" Heaven on earth "

Stayed here for a week at the end of September and had lovely weather. were told that it was going to rain but didnt see a drop!
hotel fab, really clean when we arrived and good service at the desk when we arrived. We had paid for a side sea view and were pleased with the result. would have been a little better on a higher floor but still an excellent view! breakfast pretty standard, cereals, toast, jams, cheese along with teh cooked which i didnt sample much!
paphiessa is lovely and just a little quieter and smaller than kato paphos and is very pleasant for meals and drinks out. Very easy and pleasant to reach the seafrond along the boardwalk alongside the sea, very enjoyable half an hour walk for tea and drinks!
water park definately worth a visit and the beach which is less than a 5 minute walk from the room is also a very nice way to spend the day. As said below, judging by the comments on the transfer home, definately one of the best hotels in the area!

" Ugly, depressing, rude "

Awful place
The rooms are damp and dated and it is totally depressing and ugly, and we had back ache from the hard beds.
The communal area is just as vile, and the bar full of rude idiots.
We had no hot water for days, and the owner din't seem to care in the slightest
Shoddy location - miles away from anything

Advice: Sweet little haven - but try a different hotel

Activities: jeep safari mountains

" Enjoyable stay "

Hotel in ideal location for Paphos harbour and many sites and museums. No good beaches within walking distance. Hotel decoration is very dated but has a certain charm and is clean and tidy. Staff are very helpful and friendly and alot of the staff are locals and can speak good English. The pool is large and clean and although not overly attractive is quiet to enjoy catching the sun. Too many people put towels down early morning and hog sun beds and there are not really enough of these for everyone! Breakfast is self service with tradfitional cypriot, Englishish style and tea and toast as much as you want. Paphiessa we love you!!

" Paphiessa Hotel "

We stayed here for a few days prior to moving to a villa in Coral Bay, we came for my son's wedding at the Athena Beach Hotel and we wanted a few days to ourselves before the rest of the family arrived at the villa we had also arranged to go out to dinner (at Sienna) with my son, future daughter in law and in laws. We didn't want nothing fancy but the Paphiessa we thought was very good. The breakfast was okay plenty of choice hot and cold food, tea, coffee and juice. The evening entertainment was quite good too, a couple of live acts plus karaoke. We didn't eat there in the evening we went to a few local restaurants afore mentioned Sienna being one, the food here was really good and bill being 230 euros for 7 of us seemed reasonable. The other place we went to was Adelaida, we went to Cyprus last year and this was our favorite, but this year although the food was still good the service was terrible, we waited three quarters of an hour to get served and then it was only because I told someone we were ready to order, this was after she served someone else who came in after us. Still the best value around though 3 courses plus wine for 14.50 euro. We didn't do that much here though as we were only here for a few days. We left after breakfast and drove up to Coral Bay we had a few hours to kill before we could get into our villa so as it was Sunday we had Sunday lunch in Goosefat and Garlic this was really good, a bit expensive 3 courses plus wine and drinks for 62 euro.

" eglezoi eiste malakes "

We are a couple in our 50's and we had a week at this hotel from 13th - 20th September 2009. We came home feeling that we had really had a holiday. We felt relaxed and rested. The hotel was clean and run like clockwork. The location was wonderful and the weather absolutely glorious!! The staff were friendly and were intent on you having a good time. The entertainment was good (although some acts could have been better but not the fault of the hotel I might add!!) and the animation staff were great. Landrie in particular was a lovely guy! The hotel is right on the beach so all we did was go to the beach then....hotel...beach....hotel......beach.........hotel.....for a whole week!! We were SO lazy. But that is how it is at this place. Sit back, relax and enjoy! If you fancy a night out from hotel food (although it was really good) try Sizzlers down the road. Lovely Cypriot dishes. If we had to be really really really picky........the only downfall was smoking in the dining room. But - good news.......the holiday rep said this was being 'irradicated' after this season. So go and enjoy!!

" Think before you write a review! "

We arrived early hours of the morning and we were greeted SHOCK HORROR by a friendly gentleman member of reception whose english was very good ( not at all rude and unhelpful as we'd read on here) i was struck immediatley on arrival by how clean the hotel was (and another shock no cockroaches crawling around as per previous reviews). Yes the gentleman didnt carry our cases as previously stated in reviews but to be honest we wouldnt of expected him too and there is a lift right next to reception so its not exactly a hardship!!! but if you are disabled there is a ramp and they would be more than happy to assist as they are very helpful. We got to our room and it is just like pics on here, ok maybe a little dated so no its not brand new, and state of the art but again we werent expecting this and it doesnt bother us as long as its comfortable as its just somewhere to sleep, again i was struck by how clean it was in the room as after reading reports this had been my main concern so immediatley then i felt at ease.
We went half board so we woke up the next morning for breakfast which again SHOCK HORROR is very nice, there is a wide choice eggs;scrambled, fried or they had omellete and they did boiled eggs every day , sausages, bacon, beans, toast white or brown, jams, wide choice of cereal, tea, coffee, fruit juice;apple or orange. We then checked out the pool (we had read pool was totally in shade on reviews) am pleased to report its not but obviously the sun moves during the day so although the pool is in sun all day but the loungers to the right of the pool get the most sun in the morning then ones to left of pool get the most sun in the afternoon, but there was alot of people that liked being in the shade anyway to have a break from the sun as it is so hot so it wasnt a problem. There is a pool bar we only ate there once as we were usually so full from breakfast and previous evenings meal that we didnt need a full lunch everyday, was very nice we had cheeseburger and chips . The food in the evening was just as nice as breakfast they put the menu up everyday in the morning for you so you know what your having and they give you plenty of choice, fish, lamb, turkey, beef, pork, veg;meat and fish melted in your mouth, also differen vegetarian dish every night (good for veggies), a good few different types of lovely fresh salads and sauces, everynight about 3 different types of dessert, choc gateau, apple pie, cheescakes. We never normally eat dessert at home but we did here it was so yummy. We didnt eat out once we ate every night in the hotel which says alot, we didnt actually meet anyone there who had any complaints with the food. The waiting on and bar and pool staff are really friendly and always said hello, they come and clear your plates and see if you want to order any drinks, im totally baffled to read someone say the staff were asian as they werent we talked to them all and they were either romanian or cypriots, anyway like i said all the staff were very friendly. Our bedding was made everyday and we got clean towels every 3 days. The only one thing is that yes the air con is very tempermental it worked fine first couple of nights and we even woke up freezing and had to turn it off it was that good but sometimes on other nights we couldnt get it anywhere near as cold, there didnt seem to be any method too it, but we managed and it wasnt that bad as if it had of been we would of been first to ask to be moved to another room. we didnt once during our 2 weeks stay have any cockroaches in our room! :-)
We didnt use the internet at the hotel as there is an internet cafe opposite the hotel and you can use it for half an hour for 1euro 60 and its very fast.
Kato Pafos where the hotel is situated is a lovely resort. we walked to the harbour a good few nights which is a nice walk takes about 20mins and there is plenty of shops and places to stop and get a drink if you get thirsty on the way. At the harbour there is plenty of small bars and restaurants which have seats on the front of the harbour and there is also bar street at the back if you want somewhere a bit more lively that stays open late into the night. If you dont want to go as far as the harbour then there is the irish pub opposite the hotel which is really nice the staff are so friendly and then there is the triangle at the bottom of street from hotel (5mins walk) which is a triangle of bars and restaurants, we went to the crocodile pub (which has baby croc in tank) or pegasus next door, both have promos on where you can collect tokens for free drinks or teeshirts etc and again staff are really friendly and make you feel welcome and its reasonably priced, one thing we learned anywhere we went there is always check out or ask what offers they have on, they always have something on to draw people in.
During the day theres lots to do, the beach at Coral Bay is really nice but dont go the main one got to the one just after it ( if you get the bus its the last stop where it turns round) its 1euro 50 each on the bus whatever stop you get off at, we also hired a 4x4 while we were there and got a good deal on it over there, we went all over in it, the troodos mountains which are beautifull and we also did a coastal drive along the coastal paths to lara bay and stopped at few beautifull little bays on the way (four wheel drive definaltey recommended). It is defiantely worth hiring a car if you can as there is plenty to see and we were so glad we did as we saw some beautiful sights.
All in all we were happy with what we got at the hotel for what we paid, its a 3* hotel so we werent expecting it to be lavish and luxiorious, but it was a pleasant stay and as long as your not expecting 4* or 5* you will be happy, i spoke to a lady who has been going to this hotel for last 5 years and everyone we spoke to that was staying at same time as us had no major complaints.
Hope this helps to put anyones minds at rest who have booked you really have nothing to worry about ;-)

" We recommend it! - Blakes Englezoi "

We realy enjoyed our two weeeks here our only gripe was the air conditioning wasn.t too good and you need to take a kettle. We were B & B and it was continental style which was enjoyable. Only 10 min walk to bars and harbour , entertainment in hotel each night. Trips to go on were Troodos Famagusta and a flight to Egypt is a must. Boat trips expensive, as is Cyprus, need to look around for best prices for meals and drinks. Good place to eat is Tea for Two on way to harbour. We would have no problem in staying in this hotel again we found the staff very friendly and would go out of their way to help you.

" great hotel "

after reading some of the reviews we were a bit worried but we had no need. The hotel staff are friendly, it is clean and central to Paphos. The rooms are cleaned daily, as is the pool. A good place to eat is Tea for Two on the way down to the harbour area, also Comarades here you can get set 3 course meals for 8 euro 50. Keo is the local beer and ranges from 2euro 50 to 3euro 50. Bar street is the best place to be in the evening with lots of bars and tavernas. The harbour and bar street are within a 10 min walk of the hotel.Trips not to miss are the Troodos mountains, Famagusta and a brilliant not to miss is a flight to Egypt. Forget the boat trips they are very expensive. Cyprus is expensive for everything so shop around for the best prices. The only down side to the Paphiessa was that the air conditioning was not much good and you need to take your own kettle but they were the only gripes we had. Each evening there was entertainment in the hotel and the drinks were reasonable. There are some people who are not happy unless they complain about something but we would reccomend this hotel and would go back ourselves.Take lots of sun cream as it is very hot, we hope you enjoy your stay as much as us.

Advice: Expensive, plenty to do,

Activities: Tea fo Two, TROODOS. FAMAGUSTA, EGYPT
