This was a last minute deal for me, husband, and 16yr old son. I went onto the review pages and was pleased to see that those who had been to the Paphiessa were happy with their holiday.
On arrival, the hotel is not the most up to date and fashionable but was spotlessly clean. The staff worked all hours and were so helpful and friendly. A/C (essential) was only £2cy per day and car hire was organised through the hotel at really reasonable rates.
Our S/C apartment was really clean and all equipment provided was in a good condition. Cleaners came in daily.
The pool area was gorgeous with plenty of beds and the pool temp was perfect.
Although the hotel is near a main road there was almost no traffic noise.
There is a shop over the road from the hotel and lots of restaurants nearby.
Entertainment at night was not lively but the atmosphere was great and I think that all visitors were having such a good time that it kept the evenings lively and friendly.
I would highly recommend this holiday and would go again.

Well we have just got back from our honeymoon where we stayed at the hotel Paphiessa in Paphos.
The Paphiessa was a fantastic hotel very very clean, cleaner in your room every day except Sundays. The rooms were perfect.
The bar was very nice, the reception very welcoming, the pool area brilliant, there is nothing else to say except 150% brilliant.
The busy road I keep hearing about, our bedroom was on the main road. I am a very light sleeper and it was not a problem at all.
When round the pool the very high palm trees hide the main road as I said not a problem at all.
The bar staff at the hotel well they are the most fantastic set of lads I have ever met, brill sense of humours, they could not help you enough we mainly got to know mahammid and the very cheeky little one called purna, he was really nice but as I say cheeky but in a fun way.
Paphos its self is really nice. If you want loads of night life go anytime after mid April, as when we was there it was quiet, but still we made our own night.
Certain pubs were really good, we ended up at Black & Whites every night with the delightful Alex on the door, getting you in for a drink.
If you do happen to go in there please say hello from the honeymooners which was the name they gave us.
We did not eat at the hotel not for any reason, just cause we wanted to be out enjoying different places.
We ate all over but my ultimate favourite was a place called RELAX, doesn't look real posh but it’s the best restaurant in Paphos by far and the cheapest.
From the Paphiessa it's about 10 mins away depending on which way you go, walk up towards the tourist area then down the street where the school is on one corner and the big beautiful mosque church is and it’s at the bottom of there .
I would recommend Paphos to anyone it is fantastic and probably the biggest advice I can give is, do not hire a car from the car place next to the shop across the road from Paphiessa.
We hired 2 cars in all, the first one was from in the town somewhere, very nice jeep type thing, very cheap. Then we got one from their cost twice as much was like a works van. The second day we had it we left it in the car park we said we'd rather walk then go in that.
Other than that one thing Paphos, the hotel Paphiessa, the pubs everything, excellent, go you'll love it.

We had seen some bad reviews before arriving but were actually very impressed with the paphiessa. It is a little dated but very clean. Fairly quiet location, even with the dual carriageway behind - there are hedges etc which block some of the noise. There are so many great restaurants in paphos that we didn’t eat at the hotel at all, but prices are not far behind the uk.

We found the hotel to be clean, friendly and good value for money. Although we were on half board, we ate out more than in because we wanted Cypriot food and there was not much served in the hotel.
Having said that, the food provided was of a very good standard. Breakfast was a little basic, but unlimited in quantity, so no problem. There are several restaurants within a few minutes walk, so there is no need to go to the tourist strip to eat out. We were surprised at how few Cypriot staff there were in the hotel, a sign of the times, probably.
If, like us, you have not been to Cyprus for some years, be prepared for prices being close to those in the UK. We would not hesitate to go to the Paphiessa again.

We've just come back from 2 weeks at the Paphiessa apartments and had to say we had a brilliant holiday.
Along with many of the other comments on here I would agree that the apartments were basic and dated, but spotless, with faster running hot water than we have at home! The staff couldn't do enough to help and Mohammed and Sakra in the bar were too brilliant for words.
As for Paphos being a building site - they've got to build at some time of year, so it stands to reason that they're going to do it in the winter time.
Night time was certainly not quiet and perhaps if DJFrosty had had more of an adventurous spirit, would have ventured out of the Paphiessa and tried the several locals bars and many restaurants that were open. They all gave us a very welcome reception and with some help from the locals our (somewhat bungled) attempts at ordering food/drinks in Greek meant we were treated like royalty, probably only paid for half of it and have been invited back for a wedding!
Stay away from the sea front if you want to try the real food and hospitality at very reasonable prices.
We met the most fantastic people - if you get chance drop into Harry O's for the happy hour - cocktails only £1.50CYP and say hi to Johhny & Penny who are a wicked laugh. Piatsa Greka on the Tomb of the Kings Road is highly recommended for some real Cypriot food with not a chip in sight! Panicos was a great host and there were free drinks galore whenever we went there! An average 2 course meal for 2 people with drinks came to £20CYP
The weather in Jan/Feb wasn't great, but the holiday definitely was - watch out Paphos we'll be back in the summer!

We got a really good deal here from Thomson winter sun paying £114 each so I have little cause to complain and we did as always make the most of our break.
Our room was a huge apartment away from the hotel and was well equipped although a bit dated. Though always hot water and serviced daily with linen change twice in a week.
It was also cold and the Air Con doubled as a noisy fan heater. We asked for extra blankets which arrived minutes later fresh from the shop!-The staff in general were excellent and couldn’t do enough for its guests, all public areas were kept clean and tidy and the pool area was pleasant although unusable being so cold!. The only meals taken was breakfast-standard Greek continental style with scrambled eggs for the Brits nothing too exciting!
The hotel is only 8 minutes from the town centre but a brand new duel-carriageway is literally just a pavement width away so I would think it will get noisy and dusty in the summer months-this is out of the hotel's control and I fear it will be unusable for British operators soon.
The resort of Pathos is a building site/rubbish dump-real estate is going up everywhere at an alarming rate and pavements and roads are left dirty and unfinished.
Most of bar street was closed in January as many were carrying out refurbishment
The night times were quiet beyond belief as everybody stayed in the hotels sheltering from the wind and rain!
The much heralded sites of historic interest can be looked at in a morning-all very disappointing.
restaurants were more expensive than the UK as was eating and drinking in general-nowhere really stood out for outstanding food quality.
A cheap break this is not and winter sun destination I question-stick to The Canaries!

The staff at this hotel were very friendly and helpful, we were half board and they were happy to cook an alternative meal if you didn’t like what was on the menu.
The rooms were clean and the maid was in every day changing towels, (and no travel plug was needed!)
The road works behind the hotel were a problem to some people.
Evening entertainment was poor but I'm guessing this is due to us going in March.
I would definitely go back and stay at this hotel.

The Paphiessa Apartments were good quality for 3* accommodation with plenty of entertainment in the evening including Cypriot dancing etc...
Overall the holiday was enjoyed thoroughly and the resort was lovely with a good mix of nightlife, sightseeing, shopping etc. Locals were very friendly and one plus was that there weren't as many annoying time share sales people about as we have experienced on other holidays in Europe e.g. Gran Canaria.
Easy access to other resorts Larnaca, plenty to do for all the family.
The apartments were good value for money, clean etc. and food was satisfactory.
Overall would rate this place as a holiday destination.

We holiday 3 times a year and they are always brilliant, so I guess we shouldn’t really complain about this being a bad one. But I have to.
The hotel was of substandard quality in a very run down part of Paphos. We went self catering, the weather was 35degrees plus and yet we had no fridge or any self catering facilities in our room.
It was grossly expensive and they insisted on taking your money for food and drinks as you went along which made us feel quite uncomfortable and we felt entrusted and treated like thieves.
The rep was from Sunset operators and she was unhelpful, very rude, and unprofessional, yet she informed us that she has been there for 10 years, obvious to us that her interests were with the hotel and not her guests.
We had to be upgraded from our original room because instead of the patio area we paid for our door lead out into a gravelled car park.
The roads were littered with dog poo, thank goodness for our laws back home here we couldn’t get out of the place quick enough.
The only good thing about our holiday were the flights with First Choice they were brilliant on both journeys.
