A basic dated hotel but it does what it says on the tin having researched the hotel and the area before booking there were no surprises on arrival. Staff very friendly and helpful Rooms cleaned every day (except sundays)Ideal location within walking distance to the tourist areas and the waterfront. Good car hire facilities a small but well stocked shop nearby for basics.

where do we start - this was just completely dreadful. Supposed to be a 3* hotel - it was barely 1*. Like going back to a hotel in the 1970's - completely out of date, grubby, smoke filled, appalling food - i.e jelly for desert and burger for dinner. Cheap, Cheap and cheap! The drinks were watered down imitations - done on the - you guessed it - cheap!! No entertainment, fitness club shut. dark, dank and 'orrid. Just don' go there! Are complaining to Libra Customers services and getting responses of denial. But we will not stop until the cost of our supposed Honeymoon is reimbursed.

Where do I...

Mar 2008, Ms S Morgan

Where do I start?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the only good point to mention about this hotel was that the reception staff were warm and welcoming plus very helpful.
The rest- staff are rude, the food is chronic, breakfast is the same every day (if I eat another egg again I will scream!), if you choose not to have a drink with your meal the staff get stroppy.
The highlight (if you can call it that and if you enjoy that sort of thing) is kariokee or quiz night. Believe me, I have never felt so bored.
The hotel itself looks set in the 70's, although clean, it looks shabby.
The town itself is full of construction work that you cant actually get near the harbour, also equiped with tacky gift shops.
The pavements are not level with things sticking out of the ground, so it is not disabled friendly.
Wont be going there again.

Horrible, horrible horrible!
A smokers paradise. Dirty shabby and old fashioned.I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The owners are rude and uninterested. The decor looks like it hasn't been changed since the 70's. The rooms are grubby and stink of cigarette smoke. The bathrooms dirty with cracks in sinks and bath.
The food - dreadful. Poor choice, and reminiscent of british seaside hotel in the 60's. eg Tomato soup, fish and chips, ice cream and jelly. I kid you not! Breakfast - sliced bread, reheated eggs, undrinkable coffee. No Cypriot food on menu apart from Haloumi!
Evenings - Appalling down - market entertainment in a smoke filled bar.
Definitely the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dreadful value for money. There must be better than this, surely?
Paphos itself, has some nice parts, but the area near hotel is tacky, all gift shops and fast food chains. Hire a car and see the real cyprus, away from the crowds. There are some gems to be found , but you have to look for them!

I have been going to the Paphiessa...

Jan 2008, Miss L Chaplin

I have been going to the Paphiessa now for 8 years. My family enjoy themselves so much in Cyprus that they actually bought an apartment off of Nicos so we can go whenever we want and just pay for flights. I can’t praise the Paphiessa enough; the staff are like family to me. Mohammed is a good friend of the family and we get Christmas cards every year. We are also very good friends with Nicos and his family; he treats my brother like a son.
I have been to a lot of nice hotels in America, Cuba, and St Lucia etc. and you just can’t beat the Paphiessa, I love the way it’s like returning home every time I get off that plane and walk into Paphos airport.
The harbour and bar street are only a short walk and it’s a lot closer than other hotels. The dual carriage way was a worry but it hasn’t affected the hotel, you can barely notice it and it’s easier to get to and from the airport now. Cyprus is a lovely place to go it has great restaurants (like Othello’s and relax) and if you’re a bit of an adventurer I recommend the Acamus Gorge... Its great fun. Hopefully I will be returning this summer to my second home country and I'm very much looking forward to it. I would recommend the Paphiessa to anyone.

Dec 2007, Miss L-A Neil

I went to the Paphiessa with my 12year old son in August. We were so disappointed when we were dropped off at The Paphiessa as it is in a Residential area and isn't the most attractive hotel we had seen on our journey.
During our stay, however, I could not fault the place! The hotel was clean, comfortable and extremely well run.
The staff were friendly and most helpful. The food was good and the bar/restaurant staff worked so hard - Mohammed was a pleasure to know - he was so helpful and when my son did not like the set meal he would exchange it for an a-la-carte at no extra cost.
The walk to the harbour was a killer in 46 degree heat but some of the more luxurious hotels were way more than walking distance. The bus service was good and for 70c you could travel anywhere from one end of Paphos to the other. The little supermarket across the road have a taxi business also and for only 4 Cyprus Pounds will take you to the harbour.
Yes the hotel is quite outdated but they have done the best with what they have.
If the bed is too hard they will supply a mattress topper, if you do not like the meal they will provide an alternative, The rooms were always spotless. I saw only 1 cockroach in my entire stay and that was near the trees in the pool/patio area.
The nightly entertainment was good enough for us and most people found it enjoyable.
The pool area was kept clean and, trust me, you will be glad of the shady side in the afternoon!
Paphos itself was a bit disappointing - not what I expected but I would go again just not when it is so hot!

Just arrived home from the Paphiessa...
4 / 10
Oct 2007, Mrs P Hatton

Just arrived home from the Paphiessa (self catering), my husband and myself went for one week to chill and get some sun (88degrees). Rooms very clean but decor needs some serious updating, the two boys who work the bar do a good job (Purna and Mahammid), the rest as they say is downhill.
The pool area is surrounded by over 100 year old sunbeds and tatty mattresses piled high, you have to move round the pool with the sun as the very high trees are there and block out the noise from the duel carriageway which is deafening at times. Went to the beach most days.
The hotel is so run down and dated (1970s), only ate in the restaurant once and it was okay but a lot of complaints from half board clients. It is situated in a lonely position with quite a long quiet walk to the beach (15mins), and harbour (20mins). Good restaurant is the SEAGULL down by the beach, stylish, clean and excellent food.
Overall we had a good holiday but definitely not be returning to the Paphiesssa. Hello to Gerry and Dee.

Oct 2007, Mrs Tracy Bellmy

We have stayed here for the last 6 years and cannot fault the hospitality from Nicos and all his staff. A comment I have read earlier on the review section mentions a run down area of Paphos, not so the hotel is in a quieter part of Paphos situated where Cypriots live if you want to be part of the local community then this is Cyprus.
We come here because you are close to all the nightlife should you want it, and we do as mentioned in an other review go and see Penny and Kos at Harry'os, then back to the Paphiessa for some well earned peaceful sleep. You wake to children going off to school and can enjoy a different way of life to me that is what going on holiday is all about.
We have arrived home today with every intention of booking again, yes it can be expensive to eat out, but having holidayed in Menorca earlier this year I cannot fault Cyprus and the Paphiessa as we would rather enjoy local hospitality than be treated as the British abroad with the assumption we want sun, sea, sand and burgers and chips.
For us the Pahiessa offers very clean accommodation located in a quiet location within easy reach of all aspects of Paphos at a very reasonable price where nothing is too much trouble for guests. Mohammed has a cup of hot chocolate waiting for my 10 year old son every evening and everyone is part of a big family returning year after year.

We holiday 3 times a year and they...

Aug 2007, Mr D Perry

We holiday 3 times a year and they are always brilliant, so I guess we shouldn’t really complain about this being a bad one. But I have to.
The hotel was of substandard quality in a very run down part of Paphos. We went self catering, the weather was 35degrees plus and yet we had no fridge or any self catering facilities in our room.
It was grossly expensive and they insisted on taking your money for food and drinks as you went along which made us feel quite uncomfortable and we felt entrusted and treated like thieves.
The rep was from Sunset operators and she was unhelpful, very rude, and unprofessional, yet she informed us that she has been there for 10 years, obvious to us that her interests were with the hotel and not her guests.
We had to be upgraded from our original room because instead of the patio area we paid for our door lead out into a gravelled car park.
The roads were littered with dog poo, thank goodness for our laws back home here we couldn’t get out of the place quick enough.
The only good thing about our holiday were the flights with First Choice they were brilliant on both journeys.

This was a last minute deal for me,...

Jun 2007, Mrs C Tailor

This was a last minute deal for me, husband, and 16yr old son. I went onto the review pages and was pleased to see that those who had been to the Paphiessa were happy with their holiday.
On arrival, the hotel is not the most up to date and fashionable but was spotlessly clean. The staff worked all hours and were so helpful and friendly. A/C (essential) was only £2cy per day and car hire was organised through the hotel at really reasonable rates.
Our S/C apartment was really clean and all equipment provided was in a good condition. Cleaners came in daily.
The pool area was gorgeous with plenty of beds and the pool temp was perfect.
Although the hotel is near a main road there was almost no traffic noise.
There is a shop over the road from the hotel and lots of restaurants nearby.
Entertainment at night was not lively but the atmosphere was great and I think that all visitors were having such a good time that it kept the evenings lively and friendly.
I would highly recommend this holiday and would go again.

Well we have just got back from our...

Apr 2007, Mrs L Warrington

Well we have just got back from our honeymoon where we stayed at the hotel Paphiessa in Paphos.
The Paphiessa was a fantastic hotel very very clean, cleaner in your room every day except Sundays. The rooms were perfect.
The bar was very nice, the reception very welcoming, the pool area brilliant, there is nothing else to say except 150% brilliant.
The busy road I keep hearing about, our bedroom was on the main road. I am a very light sleeper and it was not a problem at all.
When round the pool the very high palm trees hide the main road as I said not a problem at all.
The bar staff at the hotel well they are the most fantastic set of lads I have ever met, brill sense of humours, they could not help you enough we mainly got to know mahammid and the very cheeky little one called purna, he was really nice but as I say cheeky but in a fun way.
Paphos its self is really nice. If you want loads of night life go anytime after mid April, as when we was there it was quiet, but still we made our own night.
Certain pubs were really good, we ended up at Black & Whites every night with the delightful Alex on the door, getting you in for a drink.
If you do happen to go in there please say hello from the honeymooners which was the name they gave us.
We did not eat at the hotel not for any reason, just cause we wanted to be out enjoying different places.
We ate all over but my ultimate favourite was a place called RELAX, doesn't look real posh but it’s the best restaurant in Paphos by far and the cheapest.
From the Paphiessa it's about 10 mins away depending on which way you go, walk up towards the tourist area then down the street where the school is on one corner and the big beautiful mosque church is and it’s at the bottom of there .
I would recommend Paphos to anyone it is fantastic and probably the biggest advice I can give is, do not hire a car from the car place next to the shop across the road from Paphiessa.
We hired 2 cars in all, the first one was from in the town somewhere, very nice jeep type thing, very cheap. Then we got one from their cost twice as much was like a works van. The second day we had it we left it in the car park we said we'd rather walk then go in that.
Other than that one thing Paphos, the hotel Paphiessa, the pubs everything, excellent, go you'll love it.

Sep 2006, Miss G Blagdon

We had seen some bad reviews before arriving but were actually very impressed with the paphiessa. It is a little dated but very clean. Fairly quiet location, even with the dual carriageway behind - there are hedges etc which block some of the noise. There are so many great restaurants in paphos that we didn’t eat at the hotel at all, but prices are not far behind the uk.
