From the moment we got to the hotel and were greeted with a glass of champagne we were made to feel really special.
The food was awesome, with continental or fry up or fruit etc for breakfast, lunch was superb grilled meat or any other light refreshing dishes from the buffet and dinner was a multitude of tasty dishes to choose from. The staff were friendly, and exceptional in most cases. When relaxing by the pool, they would bring you drinks and melon to refresh you, bending over backwards to help. Great holiday in a great location.
Two things didn't make it a ten grade however- the entertainmant was by Thomson (not the hotels fault) and was Butlinesque, somewehat ruining a great atmosphere. But this was overcome by sitting a bit further away where the tables were nicer anyway. The other thing was that we were not told that at dinner, you are supposed to go to the main door of the restaurant and wait to be greeted and seated. For the first two days we just walked outside and sat at an empty table, probably getting evil looks from other guests and eventually a jovial shouting at from the staff.
Otherwise would recommend it to anyone, great stuff. Oh- one more thing. Go all inclusive otherwise you'll pay through the nose for drink and snacks..

I have just arrived back from Atlantica Golden Beach Hotel near Pathos. It was a very good hotel. My room had side view of sea and you heard traffic from main road. Staff very nice and friendly.Your table was cleared right away. The food was excellent.
Entertainment was not bad. The comedian was telling old jokes. The Violinist was very good and funny. Was not keen on opera.
It was very hot when we were there. People were up and sitting on sunloungers at 6.30am. We never had a problem in other hotels. We always managed to find a sunbed around the pool around 7.30am. I came down and the beds were all taken. If there was towels on
the beds before 8am and no-one there, staff removed the towels. There are loads of seats on grass which are still available up to 10am before they are full. Staff come round getting you what you want to drink. We were half board but upgraded to All Inclusive for just under $20 each per day. We asked for packed lunch when we went to Nicosia on a trip. We were given a cool box half full with sandwiches, apples, tomatoes, cake, crisps, water and orange juice. You are given a bottle of water on the way to airport. We were first off bus but first on when we were returning home which took 1 hour to collect people.
The hotel beach could do with a tidy up. Too many boulders and stones. Need to get stones removed and add more sand. you need water shoes. Coral Bay is not very big beach.
It is $1 each way for bus journey. You get number 610, 615, 10, 15 from hotel to Coral bay or Paphos or go straight onto market on number 10/610. If you go to the waterpark stay on the 615/15. If you still have Cypriot pound, you can change any old currency at a shoe shop in Paphos. Get off bus at Debenhams at harbour in Paphos and go back towards carpark make your way down towards harbour. There is a tree with a sign on it saying changing old currency.
This hotel is Adults only but were only 1 or 2 there. Thomsons Gold are adults only but there are people from other countries.
I am sure you will enjoy this hotel.

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted with a glass of champagne. It was passed evening meal time but we were informed that a buffet meal was available to anyone who was hungry.A quick inspection of our room showed the attention to detail included a bottle of complimentary champagne, a rose and chocolates.Into the shower then to the dining room for the late meal.We returned to our room after our first full day to find a happy honeymoon message and ballons on our door, a nice touch i thought. As the week progressed it became obvious that the staff were all very attentive, (and happy) the food was varied and of good quality and the entertainment team was as good as hotel entertainment goes.
Michael on the desk was always helpful and Victor in the restaraunt was friendly and funny. We made some new friends and would love to go to another Thompson Gold Hotel

Good, Bad & (The Ugly)

My wife and I have just returned from a week all inclusive at the resort May 2010.
We are middle 30's no kids.
RECEPTION and staff on the whole excellent, a couple of 'mardy cows' as my wife puts it, but generally staff were helpful and polite.
RESTAURANT - Georgio a real character - very good food, lots of choices, very good quality for breakfast, dinner and tea.
FACILITIES - again no major issue, TV hardly got a reception all week, but you don't go on holiday to watch TV.
ENTERTAINMENT - The main acts that came on a 10pm were generally very good, comedians and magic shows.. The resident duo 'Break In The Middle' to be fair were pretty poor, you get them most nights from 8.30 till 9.15 and then after the main act from 11 - 11.30 ish.
Most songs sound the same sound, and end up driving most people out of the bar. There were more people dancing when they put music on.
REPS - Were reps, quite annoying and jolly... but then that is again their job. They were loud around the pool area during the day... But if you like the games etc then you are fine.
POOL - Nice to relax and have a swim, jacuzzi by the poll is pool cold... so no one went in there.
BEACH - Not very large at all, mostly pebbles.
BEST BIT - for a sunbathing holiday go down by the other restaurant right by the beach area, very quiet down there.
OVERALL - Not many kids but other holiday companies do put kids in the hotel. Hotel is a liitel away from a walkable distance of the town so you need either a car or bus that do go frequently. Very Nice holiday, nice people and good food.
IF I WENT AGAIN - Def go all inclusive as drinks can be expensive if not, well worth the money.

Not the best place for a honeymoon!

Me and my new wife booked this hotel for our honeymoon, and considering it was gold rated and cost over £2,000 all inclusive for a week we would have expected much more.
Even though we were told by Thomson this was an adults only hotel the pool was constantly overrun by children who's parents had booked directly with the hotel. Also the fact there was a crying baby in the room next door certainly didn't add credibility to Thomsons claims.
The reps did not seem to care about the problem at all and when we tried to speak to the hotel they said it was not their problem and wouldn't send a manager to talk to us. In the end my wife had a blazing row in the middle of the foyer with the pool manager and the receptionist who were just rude and didn't care at all. Many others also complained about the children to both the hotel and Thomson and seemed to get the same response.
The only plus side about the hotel was the food which was excellent, but perhaps not worth the extra cost of going all inclusive.
Overall a very dissapointing hotel and the staff have put me off going back to Cyprus again in the future!

Pros
Quality and cleanliness of public areas and bedroom.
Cons
Food and restaurant-These were not four star quality.
Cleanliness okay, except for several cats prowling the restaurant at breakfast. Most waiting-on and kitchen staff lazy. They tried to avoid serving and preparing hot snacks on the all-inclusive. (The beach taverna was closed). Breakfast tables were not cleared. There was no butter at any of the three meals of the day for four days out of seven. Show cooking was a chef carving a joint of meat at dinner and a bowl of batter stood on the display for 1 hour at Breakfast, waiting to be made into pancakes!
Trays of food were not monitored and topped up- for example there were no fried eggs at breakfast time nor chips at lunch. We had to send for more. Choice and quality of cooking were barely three star, and the same basic dishes came around again after four days with a different sauce. I have never before had frozen crab stiks material made up to look like king prawns.
Our voiced concerns about the restaurant were not actioned. The quality of food spoilt our stay at what otherwise would have been a great holiday venue.

Absolutely amazing hotel with amazing staff. As soon as you arrive you are met by a few members of staff who give you drinks and some quick snacks whilst they explain where everything is and who to contact with any problmes. By the time you have your keys your bags are waiting for you at your room. The rooms are fairly basic but very clean well made.
The food in the hotel is fantastic! Dinner has a huge range and a great variety each night, we were given a free a la carte voucher but did not use it because the buffet food was so good every night. Again the restaurant staff were brilliant and made sure we had a great experience every night. We have stayed in 5* hotel with Thomson Gold and the food may have even been better in this hotel.
The location is not fantastic and taxis are very expensive so consider hiring a car. It is well worth shopping around as there are plenty of places that will offer you very good deals.
Although the beach is small it looks lovely and has a reef that you can swim out to. The grass area above the beach is well maintained and has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas which is were we spent all week even though there is a very nice pool.

  • Advice: Can be quite expensive so half board at least is a good idea

The accommodation was satisfactory and spotlessly clean but at the time of booking you need to make it clear that you would like a double bed , as when we arrived we found that we had to single beds put together to make a double . The facilities at the hotel including the gym , both of the swimming pools , food restaurant and bars were excellent and i would give them 10 out of 10 . The staff we found to polite and professional at all times . They were also very friendly and approachable . The restaurant manager George is a credit to this hotel and treats everyone with the highest respect , he is a true gentleman . The food caters for every need and is of the highest quality , and the presentation of the food is outstanding , we would also give this 10 out of 10 . Public transport a bus service every 20 minutes just outside the hotel , we found this to be very cheap , but be aware to check the timetable as the last bus back was 17.30 . During our stay we visited the Troodos mountains , which included a visit to Kykkos Monastery highly recommend this trip . Mosiacs in Paphos harbour well worth a visit , also Coral bay . Found the local people to be really friendly , helpful and polite . The only concern that we had during the whole of our holiday were people with scratch cards harrassing you everywhere you went including driving up to you outside the hotel at bus stop . These were not local people they were mainly british people trying to sell you a time share . They will approach you in cars , on motorbikes and on foot TAKE CARE they are not all friendly . Overall rating for this holiday 9 out of 10 . We will be returning to this hotel .

  • Advice: Wonderful place to visit will return
  • Activities: cant miss the troodos mountains trip to monestary

We have just returned from a week at this hotel all inclusive - our 2nd experience of Thomson Gold and the level of service, cleanliness, good food, lovely satff and very friendly-FANTASTIC. A great place. The only downside would be the location as it is a bit far out of Paphos(too far to walk) but there is a good bus service by day to Paphos and Coral bay. Would be nice if there was a courtesy bus from the hotel a few of evenings a week to the harbour - sure people would pay the going rate - just to give you a variation and chance to see Paphos by night. (Maybe everyone given opportunity of going one night during their stay). Wouldn't want to stay too late but if you have a drink then you can't drive your hire car! The hotel entertaninment isn't always our cup of tea yet you feel you have no alternative unless you just want to sit in bar and chat.
It was lovely weather but not just warm enough to use the pool. We sat round the pool/grassed areas and bar service was great.Staff very attentive. Loads of sun beds etc. Nice to be able to listen to the sea lashing against the rocks.
We went on the trip to Nicosia (149 km).It was a long day and we seemed to spend the day on the coach! Can say we have crossed the line now and once done if we return we wouldn't have to go again.
We also hired a car and it was delivered to the hotel full of petrol and collected from the hotel. No hassles. Gives you freedom to visit places and just spend a little longer somehwere if you want too. The roads are windy and can soon become tracks so beware! At least they drive on same side of road as us. You can see all the hire cars en-route. We all seem to head to the same places!
