Just returned from our 2nd visit of the year to Atlantica Golden Beach in paphos and was not dissapointed.once again the food was 1st class with plenty of choice and although the weather was not as hot as it was when we went in june 2008 it was still well in the 80's which was fine. Many of the bar staff and waiters had changed since we last went but they were still fantastic particually a waiter called Adrian who always remembered our drinks order and room number and always had time for a smile and a friendly chat. The entertainment in the evening was very good resident duo Roscoe kept us entertained with a wide variety of music and some of the other singers particually Katy were excellent. Two people who really made our stay at the hotel enjoyable were the two hosts mark and debbie they work extremley hard both day and night to make sure that the guests are kept entertained although we did find out before we left that debbie isnt being kept on for the winter season which is a real shame and im sure the hotel will be worse of without her being a part of it as she was fantastic with all the guests and always made sure that she kept a smile on her face and a chat for all the guests. All in all we had a great holiday and would recommend this hotel for people who are looking for a relaxing holiday with good entertainment and great food.

We went to the Golden Beach in August for our honeymoon and were not disappointed. We were allocated a Superior Room which overlooked the sea and hotel pool - the views where fantasic. On arrival we had a bottle of bubbly in our room along with a plate of fresh fruit. Room lovely, with slippers, dressing gown and jacauzzi.
Shall I do the good first or the really petty bad things? OK... bad first.
Only 3 things.....
1) First day of marriage and I had packed wrong for my new husband. It was mandatory to wear long trousers in the restaurant at night and I had only packed tailored shorts. Poor thing had to wear jeans all week at night (unless you were female and hotpants were fine!!). It was so hot we could not understand why there was such a sexist rule.
2) Although advertised as a childless hotel, there were quite a few children via another spanish/greek operator, so not quite as peaceful as we had hoped.
3) Location - had to take a bus everywhere, although this was fun as the bus drivers were so comical and miserable!!.
Good stuff, and there are lots. Superior room was lovely. Maid service twice a day (not always convenient when on honeymoon!!!), fresh towels every day and bed turned down with sweets at night.
Food was fantastic.... great variety every day and it was great that the all inclusive lunch was served in the beach Taverna as the atmosphere was great and with all inclusive you do tend to get sick of eating twice a day in the same room. Drinks service was great too.... a few reviews mentioned that they did not like you to go to the bar... this was so you could be spoilt! There were ample waiters/resses walking around all the time in the hotel and by the pool so you could sit on your lounger all day and be literally waited on. You had to sign for all your drinks, but as it was a hotel that was not 100% all inclusive, they were just making sure people were not carrying H/B er's.
Staff were lovely.... most were young girls from Poland who were really friendly. We could not believe how they could work in the heat (42 degrees some days). They were so friendly and helpful.
Entertainment - some good and some bad - depends on your taste. They had a resident group called Roscow who my husband wanted to shoot by the end of the week as he thought they were depressing (I did agree and it drove me to wine), but some other groups where good. We had a comedian from Britains Got Talent who was great.
We were only there for a week, so would definately recommend hiring a car if you are there for longer, as local places (harbour/market/coral bay) are only worth a couple of visits. Coral Bay had a lovely beach which we went to a couple of days, as the hotel beach is man-made and rocky. Coral Bay was sandy and had water sports.
The Harbour offers lots of cruises, has a few touristy shops and lots of places to eat. The Market is what you would normally expect, with a few other shops scattered around. I was a little disappointed with the shop offerings, as I had thought it would be a busier resort in the centre.
WARNING - timeshare.... the first day we went to the Harbour it was like playing Gladitors, with us running through the masses of timeshare reps. They get more sneaky every year and get chatting first, ask you to do a scratch card, tell you that you have won and ask you to go and collect from a different venue. We saw so many people get sucked in by them - please beware.
Overall, a lovely honeymoon. Food, staff, hotel, operator - all great.
Just come back from this resort,...

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed two weeks at this hotel. We were a bit sceptical after reading some mixed reviews but decided to make our minds up when we were there.
We could not fault the staff, the cleanliness and general ambience of the hotel. The standard rooms are in need of an upgrade as they are now a little dated but they were comfortable and cleaned every day. The bed linen was changed regularly and towels changed every day. We were shown an upgraded room and it was very nice. If the standard rooms are, as we were told, going to be upgraded to the same level then that will make the stay even nicer. There was plenty of choice of food. If you are prepared to say Good Morning or Good Evening in Greek then you will score "points" with the restaurant staff.
The Ouzo and Meze night at the beach Taverna was good fun. We couldn't eat everything. It would have been better to have had several tables together and everyone share as what we had was easily enough for four people. We gave up after the third course! There was a Greek duo playing and singing which was very pleasant. Then there was dancing. The restaurant manager Nicos gathered the ladies, then eventually the men were told to join in. After a while the staff who were there enjoying a Meze performed for the guests. It really was good fun. The Barbecue evening at the beach Taverna was also enjoyable.
It is worth hiring a car for a few days or for the duration of the holiday as there is a lot to see on the Island. A must place to visit locally are the Mosaics by Paphos Harbour - The House of Dionysus. It is hard to believe that some of these date back to 3rd/4th century. Also on the site is the Odeon ampitheatre which has been restored. They hold productions there on certain evenings.
Coral Bay is a pleasant beach and not too far away from the hotel. Further afield towards Limassol is another pleasant beach at Pissouri. Follow the signs for the "Jetty" not the village. A drive along the West Coast is rather nice, it is greener there. Latchi has a harbour behind the main road where you will find several bars and restaurants. You can hire Water Sports equipment or take a boat trip. A trip up into the hills near Paphos Forest reveals some spectacular views. Look out for the herd of goats crossing the road. We encountered about 100 crossing the road presumably making their way to the milking parlour on the farm the other side. They were being shepherded by a dog! Not a human in sight. We guess that was the dog's task, he knew what he was doing!
We did the "Untouched North" trip which was interesting. The downside was that we spent more time travelling than we did looking around. It was interesting watching the security checks at the border crossing in Nicosia. It was worth going just to say that we crossed the "green line" and went through the buffer zone. I understand that you can cross the border yourself by car but I doubt it is as straightforward as people say. Certainly if you have a hire car they request not to take it into North Cyprus. The Harbour in Kyrenia was pleasant, the town was very busy and a little old fashioned. The views from the Bellapais Monastery are stunning.
The evening entertainment was better than some places we have been. We were very impressed by the resident band Roscoe. We weren't too struck with the comedians, especially the one whose punchline didn't match his "story" He said the wrong animal prior to his punchline! The Greek Dancers were excellent, especially the second week when half of them performed on the outdoor stage which was good if you were on the terrace. We have seen the Glasses dance before but it wasn't done the same way. We also liked the Opera2nity duo and the singer who came on dressed as the "Phantom" was very good too. The Gold Team shows were very good.
Overall we had an excellent holiday and would certainly go back to this hotel again. If you want to be near the centre of Paphos then it would be wise to choose a different hotel, but if you like a fairly peaceful surrounding then this hotel will serve you very well.

My partner and myself have just returned from a weeks all inclusive holiday at the Atlantica Golden Beach Hotel.
Prior to going I was concered after reading some peoples reviews of the hotel, but once there I am happy to say that this hotel was lovely and clean, the food was plentyful and very nice.
My partner and myself had a great time at the hotel manly due to the lovley staff, George (pool bar) and Debbie was brillant, also on my birthday that hotel had arranged
for a bottle of bubbly to be put in my room which I thought was a lovely touch.
The only thing I can say that was not great about the hotel was the location, but lets be honest you know how far it is away from the town pior to booking.
If you want a relaxing and stress free holiday, then this is the place for you.

We booked this holiday before we read any of the reviews on here. We were a bit apprehensive after reading but decided to make our own minds up on arrival.
There are good and bad points to this hotel, just as there are with all others. The down sides are mainly the location and the "golden beach".
Location is poor, there really is nothing there, a scattering of pub/restaurants, car hire offices and a local store.
The " golden beach" may be golden in colour but is not much of a beach, very small and on a very rocky front. There is discarded rubbish lying either side of the hotel frontage.
There is a very nice grassed area just above the beach and is very popular with residents.
The pool area is very clean, plenty of sun beds (be prepared to get up very early to get your towel on)
The actual hotel has had a makeover, most rooms are reasonably comfortable, but are cleaned every day and the cleaning staff very helpful and friendly.
Main area of hotel is very nice, spacious and well maintained.
Restaurants are well kept, clean and food is plentiful and the choice is huge. All inclusive get a free al a carte meal which is very nice. You cannot fault the food.
Entertainment is ok, and the cabaret acts are good, we were lucky enough to have Roy Walker (excellent) one night. There were a couple of comedians ( one won't make you LAFF) and the singers were very very good. Especially a duo called opera 2 unity. If they are there when you are, get a front seat.
Mark and Debbie the hosts work their socks off for you. Simple fun and games that anyone can join in, and if you think your good at games think again. There is always a twist.
The staff are very hard working, and a customer liasion manager is there to help make things run smoothly. Which she does!
A car is a must if you stay here.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay here and have given the hotel and staff an 8/10 rating.

Could not fault this hotel in any way at all. Food was absolutely superb in choice and quality. There really was something for everyone. Hotel always extremely clean and staff so polite and willing to do anything to help. We came to this hotel for our honeymoon and constantly wish we were there again. We had champagne etc left in our room on arrival.
Hotel very peaceful but there were lots of activities available if you wanted to do them.
A really nice gesture and something we will always remember is the managements cocktail party, we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The hotels beach was perfect very calm warm water and very secluded. What else can i say "it's perfect".

We holidayed here in February of 2007 for an extended family holiday. There were 6 families in all, some with kids some without! We had an amazing time. The hotel itself really has the wow factor! The hotel is situated right on the beach with views from our balcony of the blue sea, it was so beautiful.
We upgraded to a superior room, which was really well furnished with king size bed, very comfy, room, with an excellent view from the balcony. All facilities in the room were great. Other family members had the basic room, which was equally as nice although a bit smaller, but more than adequate, and also well furnished.
The whole hotel is of a very high standard. The restaurant has a great range of food served in a relaxed atmosphere, with water feature. It was really well priced as well. There was also entertainment.
The pool was large with plenty of sunbeds. Very quiet with hot tub and pool bar. This hotle is excellent value for money and would recommend****to everyone. It was ideal for us as a large group but would also suit families on their own or couples.
Overall a very nice hotel to...

Overall a very nice hotel to stay at.
Rooms are clean and quite spacious. We upgraded to a superior room which all have fantastic views of the sea. The standard rooms are not too much different to the superior rooms. You get more drawers for storage, dressing gowns and different beach towels but that is about all.
Some standard rooms have sea view but not all. Fair sized walk in pool with Jacuzzi area. Plenty of sun beds to go around all guests but only a few are on the patio area. Most are on the grass.
Food is good and quite varied. Buffet style for all meals however you get an A La Carte meal included if you want it. Drinks service can be a little slow at times and you have to wait for waiters to order drinks. Ordering at the bar can be difficult depending on which bar you are at. Pool bar is ok but the other bars it gets frowned at.
The Thomson reps work hard to keep you occupied throughout the day but the evening entertainment gets a bit repetitive. There is a resident duo who sing a variety of numbers six nights a week and then an act to follow. This sometimes is very similar to the resident duo so be warned.
Location is a disadvantage although there is a regular bus service into Paphos which is dirt cheap. Fixed at 70p however you may not want to sit where you can see what the driver is up to. Cypriot bus drivers have their own way of driving. You have to see it to believe it! The other downside to this hotel is the lack of sound insulation. You can hear what your neighbours are up to quite easily and if you have a room above the reception area you can hear the chairs scraping across the floor as people get up. This goes on till well past midnight so if you are a light sleeper make sure you get a room away from reception.
Overall a great hotel. All staff make you feel welcome. Rooms are cleaned daily and beach towels are supplied free from reception. You can change them as often as you like too which is often not the case.
I would return to this hotel again if I were returning to Paphos however having spent the last three years there we will be trying somewhere different next time.

I have just come back from getting married in Paphos Cyprus and what can I say - it was fantastic!!
Everything was organised through our tour operator Thomson or through the hotel (Atlantica Golden Beach) and everything ran without any problems. We had a fantastic day and would love to do it all over again I enjoyed it that much.
The hotel couldn't do enough for us, all the staff were really friendly, and the food was out of this world. It was a little out of Paphos but we never found that to be any bother as the buses were very frequent.
The whole holiday and wedding was very relaxed and all my guests enjoyed themselves as well.
Anyone thinking of getting married in Paphos Cyprus - go for it, you won't be disappointed!

Almost totally agree with everything Mr Sales no way is this a four star. Staff are very good and do their best.
Our room needed refurbishment; paint peeling etc. The hotel is surrounded by banana plantations but on the other side of the busy main road. This is not however the tropical paradise it pretends to be.
Would strongly recommend using another tour operator Thompson are not a patch on what they were. Very disappointing

We had an excellent holiday, the quality and choice of the food was better than buffets on some cruise ships. The food was displayed at different points of the restaurant so there was not the queue and shuffle normally associated with buffets.
The entertainment was far better than could be expected at other hotels, with Thomson's Production company calling in 4 times a fortnight and guest artistes doing an hour each night, along with the holiday reps who are quite talented, every evening we felt we had been well entertained each night.
The hotel is well run, with a good ambiance and the management and staff show that extra effort. The beach is small with some stones but bathing shoes get you into the sheltered cove, protected from the breakers.
The sunbeds on the beach are not owned by the hotel and must be paid for daily. Drinks in the hotel are expensive for those not on all inclusive drinks package (CY £9.75 per day).
Local buses are frequent for Coral bay which is close by or Paphos which is 8Km away.
The bedrooms are comfortable, if a little tired. At the end of September 2007 building work began on the next plot to the north of the hotel at 8.00 each morning, so best to check if it is complete at the time of your holiday. Overall 10 /10.

We have just returned after a week’s stay at the Atlantica Golden Beach. It was one of the best hotels we have stayed in.
The bedrooms were lovely, daily maid service and they even come and turn your bed back at night, and leave a sweet or biscuit on your pillow. On the last night it was a red rose.
The food was wonderful and plenty of choice. If you don't like sauces and foreign food there was a roast every night and the puddings were to die for.
Everybody from reception staff, waiters and bar staff were very friendly.
We did not want to come home and it is certainly a hotel we will return to.
