Hotel spotless.Staff helpful. Food disappointing, same every day, and always running out.
Quiet location [apart from the neighbours dog].
Only entertainment provided was a singer/pianist on a saturday night. The taverna next door had a Greek night on a Thursday.
Water taxi is a great way to get into Skiathos town, 2 Euro's.
Worth hiring a car and exploring up the mountains, some fantastic views.
Skiathos as got very expensive over the last couple of years.

" We stayed here from the 2nd to the... "

We stayed here from the 2nd to the 16th of May 2008 and had a great holiday. The hotel is situated right on the beach with really beautiful sea views and a water taxi that takes you into Skiathos town (approx 10 minutes journey) for 2 euros each, (we paid 60 euros in Venice for a similar distance). Our room was cleaned every day and we found all other areas of the hotel to be spotlessly clean. when we arrived there were only six other people staying at the hotel as we had arrived on the first flight in to the island, so we were later told, the next day a few more arrived and gradually the hotel seemed to get busier day by day until when we left there were approximately 200 people staying there and many more to come. We found that quite a lot of bars and restaurants were still closed and were not due to open until around the middle to the end of May as it was the beginning of the season and therefore fairly quiet when we were there. There are a limited number of sunbeds (approx 40) around the very nice but rather small swimming pool but the beach is right in front of you so its not a problem. There are two bars at the hotel, both of these are expensive in my opinion (most spirits seemed to be about five euros exept "Ouzo" and "Metaxa" of course) one is the "Pithari bar" which is the large main bar area and the other is the "beach bar" which overlooks the sea, unfortunately this bar was not open in the evenings when we stayed and used to close at 5pm but it was due to be opening a little later when we left. There is a very good Taverna next to the hotel on one side and a very nice bar on the other side, both overlooking the beach. There are some gorgeous beaches on Skiathos and as is normal for Greece lots of them are only accesible by boat so forget the expense and hire yourself a small boat for a few hours and explore the island from the sea. There are plenty of very nice Tavernas and bars in Skiathos town, however we did find them to be a little expensive compared to our recent Greek holidays in Corfu, Kefalonia and Cyprus but we never had reason to complain as every meal we had outside the hotel was exceptionally good. My only minor negative comment would be that the food in the restaurant at the hotel was ok but we felt that it could have been much better, however, considering that we were staying in a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location with excellent friendly service from very helpful and knowledgeable staff (especially Vasiliki and Stephanos) we were not going to let this minor detail spoil our holiday unlike some guests that were constantly complaining, we even heard one lady complain to the reception that she did not like the orange juice that was served at breakfast and could this be changed, some people are never happy but that is their loss. All in all we had a fantastic holiday that cost us a little more than we had expected but it was worth it and we look forward to going back to Skiathos, although probably self catering next time.

I could not fault the hotel which was spotless, however the reception staff left a lot to be desired. On arrival we were just told our room number and pointed to the lifts and left to find our own way.
The food in the hotel although repetitive was very nice and plenty of choice. The bar where you are served with glass`s appeared to be very much in favour of the Germans as we sat in there on several occasions and the waiters would ask them their orders but ignore us, and we would end up fetching our own.
The animation team work very hard but are not intrusive when they are trying to get participation they will ask once and if you say no will go away.
My other grumble was for a hotel so big there did not appear to be enough lifts especially in the mornings and late afternoon when everyone is going out or coming back in.
All in all it was a very enjoyable holiday once you got used to the Germans who outnumbered the English by approx 65% and were always reserving the sunbeds for the whole day.
This is a great place for children although we have none, I can see why people chose to go here because there is so much for them to do.

For anyone looking to relax in a first class hotel on a lovely beach in peace, this is the one! The hotel is spotless, the staff are friendly, the half board buffet is very good. There are a limited number of young children as there is no children's club, so it's also a very peaceful setting. The hotel is situated on a very clean shingle beach with sparkling clear sea. The taxi boat runs every hour to Skiathios Town, which is 15 minutes away and is absolutely charming with some excellent restaurants.
On a cool day, take a trip to the Dog Rescue Centre in the mountains, less than 10 minutes by taxi, and walk the dogs whilst taking in the stunning scenery. The English ladies up there are doing a fantastic job, as the many waggy tails that greet you will confirm. Do take some cash for the donation box!!
The pool at this hotel is tiny, with the 25 or so sunbeds being "reserved" by dawn, so it is not suitable for pool lovers, but with such a lovely beach at hand it doesn't matter.

The hotel was really good right on the beach. The food and the accommodation was great, we had a sea view which we paid a supplement for and worth every penny!
The pool was a little small but the sun loungers were so comfy!
The people are very friendly and nothing is any trouble there is a water taxi that takes you into the town that is great, the town was lovely very relaxing a great place for people watching!
We went on a boat trip to Skopolos & Alonnosis it was a full day and a great trip we loved it, also a good place to go is the dog shelter its run by a Scottish lady named Helen, they look after the dogs there and eventually get new homes for them.
Our daughter loved it, as there were puppies there too, you get to walk the dogs as well so if your a dog lover this ones for you.
We will be returning again soon as it was a brilliant holiday.

The hotel is in a great location a stones throw from the beach. The hotel is clean and the staff are friendly there is a huge selection of choice at the buffet.
The boat that you can catch to Skiathos Town is a unique way to travel and especially enjoyable as the weather in August was so hot. It goes frequently so you can easily go for a meal or shopping and then come back to the beach. We really enjoyed traveling by boat, as the car taxi-drivers are a bit reckless and the road that joins one end of the island to the other is not as pretty as the coast line.
We overheard other guests complaining about the road not feeling safe as they had no pavements and the cars are quite fast, however if you do want to go walking in the evening, it is best to catch a boat and go to Skiathos town, as from the old port you can catch a boat to anywhere on the Island.

We have stayed at this hotel in 2004 & 2005. Were going back this year 2006. The Hotel is on an excellent beach and has all the facilities that you need.
The food is Greek as you would expect, is plentiful and excellent. The staff are all friendly and very helpful. The pool is a little small but the beach is a stones throw away, with plenty of room.
Could not fault this hotel.

" My Husband and I booked this hotel... "
Submitted By: Mrs H Walden
My Husband and I booked this hotel for our honeymoon. In the brochure it said it was a 4* hotel so we thought that it would be lovely - how wrong could we be!

When we arrived we were shown to our room only to find that there were 2 single beds that had been pushed together and not a double and the decor was very basic. We were so disappointed - we nearly decided to fly straight back to the UK. We didn’t though as we decided to make the best of our holiday - looking back we wished we hadn’t. The food was poor most days - everything was swimming in grease and there was limited choice. On a couple of occasions we went out and bought dinner elsewhere as we couldn’t eat what was offered in the hotel.
The service in the pool-side restaurant was also slow and the staff weren’t very polite at times - they just seemed to be nice to the Greek guests but not the English.
There was a lack of sunloungers round the pool area - we never managed to get any as the same guests would get them each day so we had to go down to the beach where we had to pay for loungers which worked out very expensive.
We would never go back to this hotel again - when we returned home it felt as though we didn’t have a proper honeymoon so my Husband went out and booked a long weekend to the Cotswolds to make up for it and that is what it did.

" The Esperides is a lovely hotel in a... "

The Esperides is a lovely hotel in a lovely setting. The hotel is right on the beach, which has plenty of water sports, bananas, donuts and water skiing. The hotel even has its own water taxi to take you into Skiathos Town (takes about 15 minutes). At the front of the hotel you can pick up a bus or taxi close by to take you into town or to one of the other lovely beaches. The food in the hotel is buffet style, and was excellent, particularly if you like Greek food. There is a lovely terrace outside where you can eat that overlooks the sea, with very good service from the waiters. Although it is buffet style it is not a mad scramble like some places we have stayed. There were a few flies around the buffet, but hey even they must have good taste!! The food was always warm, fresh, quality and plentiful. We used the air conditioning as it got VERY HOT at night once or twice being August. If I had to find a fault then it would probably that the pool area is a bit small for a hotel of this size, but when you have the lovely beach right next to it with the sea lapping around you who needs a pool anyway. Overall, lovely hotel, lovely location lets go back!!
