Be Warned!
from sparkelydebs
The air con is not true air con, just a cold fan that doesn't cool the room. It works only between 5pm and 5am (not good to cool off in mid day). There is no swimming pool either, for a price you can use another hotels, and you have to pay for loungers on the beach. All inclusive in Greece has 4 types (light, standard, classic and premier). This hotel does 'standard' which means you do not have snacks inbetween meals, you have to wait until 11am for a glass of water, fruit joiuce is a dilute juice and not fresh (our holiday company didn't explain this but by rights they should have). Dinner reminded me of school dinners. The food is not served and the next meal is re-hashed food from the last meal. Hotel was clean. Staff at reception were helpful but don't be fooled by the 'family run' hotel, there is no such atmosphere. In fact ambiance was definatly missing in the hotel. All in all it wasn't terrible but it was a disappointment, do not pay over the odds or expect great service and food. If you want a cheap holiday with little expectation, this is it!
Great Time

Just arrived back. (July 15 2008) Hotel clean, food OK (breakfast poor, (but always toast )) (Food NOT English so don't expect it. Not piping hot, more Greek luke warm) Everyone from staff to guests very friendly. Air Con noisy- so had better take your ear plugs. Room always clean. Location fantastic - beach just across a small road, lively town centre 3 mins walk, but never heard any noise. Music in bar could be better (sometimes it was house/garage/dance all one beat and not sure when one song stopped and another started - prefer 60's. 70's 80's - proper music!!) We were there a week and it went so fast. As a base would recommend it to anyone. BUT not 4* more 2/3* NO POOL (but one next door but have to pay 2/3 euro). Went All inclusive (choice of drinks limited but most of the time too hot so was drinking soft drinks/water) Would not hesitate to go to this hotel again
disappointed

Going Dutch..
from geebeedorset
Very good reception staff, (HI Katerina..) clean rooms, changed beds every day, food not too bad, drinks VERY limited. However when we stayed in early October the place was full of Dutch students who came back from clubbing early hours screaming and shouting, doors banging well into the early hours. VERY NOISY. Good for families not so good for couples looking for a quiet break. If you stay dont get stuck with room 103...right above the bar area..! Try out the many bars and tavernas nearby.
Thumbs Up! X

Ive never really done anything like this before but i need to spread the word about the Evelyn Beach, they say its a 2* which i just come back on 29th sept 07 and its now a 4* hotel. Me and my fiance' Gary 22yrs old, we have just come back from the holiday and oh my god its the most beautiful place ive ever met. We shared a taxi with another couple think they was gobsmacked! :P HOTEL- it states its a 2* hotel, its actually 4* now that what it says on the building. You've seen the pictures on the hotel its very hard to judge the hotel looks a bit dating coz i was oowwing and arghing but believe me dont rely on the pictures take my advice the place was clean, fresh, maids came everyday to change your sheets, fresh towels. yeah the rooms were on the small size but you have to complemize you had bed, cupboards mirror, hair dryer and air con and tele all included in the package. i would recommend to get a sea view well worth it cost an extra 20pounds but that view in morning and the sunset was to die forwe stayed for a week it did cost us 11.90 euros a week (8.29 UK) but at the end of the day its priceless if you misplace your personnel possesions! think about it!!! and the remote you dont pay for tv or air con at all it was all included in the stay!!!. STAFF- The staff are so polite feels like youve known them for years, very polite and kind make you feel very welcome and every staff can speak many language so you'll never feel left out, got to watch out for 'George' bar staff very good with the playing tricks! the reception are so helpful, they take you to your room ask if you want refreshments. FOOD- the food wasnt too bad but i think what annoyed me the most was a few people was moaning because they didnt like it coz they was no chips or beef burger!!- theyve travelled all around the world to eat that its crazy! its a european restaurant so you'll have to expect the foods going to be different! they was dish jelly & ice cream fresh fruit a lots of watermelon, fresh cakes and buns every meat you could think of. Tea/coffee juice lots of booze .its was a beautiful spread and you can eat much as you like!!! :) POOL- Would really relyon the pool toomuch coz the beach is under your nose. BUT if you wanna use the pool youll have to use next door pool 2.50 euro includes parasol & chairs very nice to lie around but if you dont wanna pay that go to 'STAR BEACH' and its 5/10mins walking distance its free and it even has a few waterslides included. theres crazy golf and bungee jumping and karting. BEACH- Your literally on the beach its a stone throw away and the next beach 1 min out of your way walking (not even that). Its like your own private beach. The views are gorgeous NIGHTLIFE/ AMUSEMENTS- shops closed about 3am and bars are closed at 5am in morning recommend going for a drink in 'MURPHYS' an Irish bar the staff are fab miss them SO much so much so where meeting up very soon they everrn chuck you peanuts in and loads of shoot drinks for appreciation- bless. If you love your food defo go to 'FOTIS' restaurants next door but one from the hotel, the plates was huge fullof every meat you can think of. Reccommend going to 'WATERCITY' waterpark your thereall day but be very careful when you buy your meal, we bought * spag bol * chicken & chips * fanta * beer Its cost us 40 euro we was robbed!!!, think they was taking advantage so be aware! fum day to go out even the kids have a really fad section too! THUMBS UP HERE! YOU'LL LOVE IT!!! :) x
Amazing
from kRaeTwin
Just got back today from the warm dry 29 degrees midnight heat to Scotlands 5 degrees rainy morning. The hotel is amazing i am only 12 and i was very entertained. The food is really good and so is the staffs friendliness. The beach is good. I recommend buying a snorkel and diving mask from the shop down the road. There are millions of fish on the beach. The drinks are good too. This hotel is one of the best but don't play on the hotels pool table its 2 euros and isnt very good condition. You should go up onto the main st and go into the Saloon bar its only 1 euro in there. all in all amazing
Not what I consider a 1st class hotel
from pycastoria
Although I was told this is a 1st class hotel, I wouldn't stay there again! We arrived about 9:30PM on a Sat. and learned that "Half Board" meant bkfst & dinner. I had asked for bkfst only. The dinner hour had long finished, but since I had already paid for dinner, one would think they would offer us at least a "cold plate" to take to tour room. No mention of this, nor do they have anyone to take your bags to your room. They do have an elevator. You have to pay extra for use of the in-room safe and mini fridge. The electricity is turned on and off with your key as you you leave and enter your room. Not a big problem, however they don't always turn on the a/c compressor! During the day it's kept off and If they feel it's cool enough outside, in the eve. they leave it off! After sightseeing all day I wanted was to take a shower and relax in a cool room.! Thankfully we were close enought to the beach and opening the doors helped. The mattress was really old and lumpy and when I mentioned this at the desk they said they would replace it, they never did! No Internet access. They didn't leave clean towels the first day, nor did they bother to make the bed up with the bedspread. They left it with the sheets only!
Very enjoyable stay.

I am 18 yrs and my boyfriend and I have just returned form a week’s stay at the Evelyn Beach Hotel in Hersonissos. HOTEL All in all we had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel, it is very clean with a spacious reception area overlooking beautiful views of the small shingle/sandy beach. Luckily we pre booked a room with a sea view and balcony (please note I would advise you to make sure you book a room with a sea view as we stayed in a normal room for a day and it felt extremely cramped and stuffy with hideous views of the building out of a very small window). The room was very basic containing shower/bath, tv (only English channel being CNN) hairdryer and dresser table, with low beds which I found very uncomfortable. The cleaning service was efficient and the beds and towels changed almost everyday. I must stress that the air conditioning although was on full blast was inadequate, the room remained stuffy and just bearable for the whole week. There are a lot of extra costs that all add up by the end, for example to hire the safe for the week was over 25 euros and to book a courtesy room if you have a late flight on your last day is an extra 25 euros. We stayed on an all inclusive basis but it felt more like full board as drinks and snacks were provided only at set times. The food was buffet style the cold options were delicious very fresh with a mixtures of salads, peppers, red onion, rice, feta cheese and a selection of bread. The hot options I didn’t find so appetizing with a selection of pasta, chips and potatoes which seemed to be very greasy. The dining room over looks the sea and a positive was that it never seemed to get too crowded with plenty of tables. BEACH/POOL The hotel is overlooking the beach so it is literally a 30 second walk from the hotel. Although the beach is small, no matter how late in the day we tried to get a sun lounger there were always quite a few spare. If you’re looking for an idyllic long stretch of sandy beach this isn’t the beach for you because the sun loungers are arranged very close together and you feel quite cramped although it did have a lively atmosphere close to plenty of beach bars. The cost for a sun lounger is 2 euros and an umbrella is an extra 2.50 euro per day. The pool is situated just outside the hotel with a cost of 2 euro per day because it is not owned by the Evelyn beach hotel. HERSONISSOS I loved the resort of hersonissos there is something for everyone with its lively atmosphere and huge selection of shops, bars and clubs only a 3 min walk away from the hotel. The main part is along a long a stretch of main road lined with bakery’s, jewelers, clothes and shoe shops, bars and clubs. There are many shops crammed with realistic Gucci, prada, Armani and louis vuitton fake bags, wallets, t-shirts the list could go on foreverer……at very low prices. The shopkeepers and locals are very friendly, although the continual persistent nagging for you to buy their product does get incredibly annoying after a couple of days, they don’t leave you alone!!. If you love jewelry the selection in hersonissos is incredible. About an 8 – 10 min walk from the hotel up the main road is the beautiful harbor lined with traditional shops and a huge selection of restaurants and a larger beach. The restaurants were all over looking the sea and the cretin cuisine was delicious and very affordable. The harbor is beautiful at night with a lively and friendly atmosphere, the area felt very safe. Although we didn’t go to Malia it is only a 10 min taxi ride away and the water park is only a 20 min taxi ride away for family fun. If you get offered the opportunity to go on the “lazy day cruise” (55 euro plus 9 euro transfer) definitely go, you sail to a deserted island where you are left for a couple of hours to lay on sandy beaches and swim in crystal clear waters. A delicious traditional buffet is included and snorkeling is available. I have to say although I loved the trip I did get very sea sick as you are sailing for most of the day. All in all my boyfriend and I had an extremely enjoyable holiday and would definitely return to the resort and the hotel because of its ideal location where no noise from the surrounding resort is heard. Hersonissos is perfect for couples looking for a relaxing and romantic holiday or a group of friends looking for a lively buzzy week with its large selection of nightlife. My boyfriend and I have just returned form a weeks stay at the Evelyn Beach Hotel.
Could Do Better

We recently stayed on an all inclusive deal. This wasn't all it was cracked up to be. The food can be best decribed as adaquite and mostly not that good and even if you were there as soon as the buffet starts the hot food was not hot at all. The all inclusive drink was very limited to beer, brandy, wine, ouzo, raki and soft drinks these are avalible only between 11.00 and 23.00 you do get a remote to work the TV and the key to the fridge.. All in all quite a dissapointment but one saving grace is that the staff are very helpfull and friendly.
relaxing, friendly and laid back

This hotel has just started all inclusive holidays, its a small family run hotel, we found that it is more like a full board hotel with free drinks. There are no snacks in the day or ice cream, you can only eat in the hotel at their set times. The rooms were lovely and big, maid service every day. Nice size balcony over loking the beach and the pool. Standard of food was good, limited choice on drinks. Staff very friendly, would go back again, no entertainment at all, just back ground music.
We arrived at 7.00 in the morning to find this hotel to be very clean, beds and towels were changed daily, the staff appeared indifferent but when we requested extra pillows at 11.00pm they obliged immediately, the food was good but basic (great if you love salads, I did,... more
