Just back from one week holiday. Evelyn is nice and clean hotel with basic rooms. would say it was 2/3* not 4*.
ROOM:
-clean daily
-including small refrigerator, air con, tv (just a few channels but we didnt go to watch tv!)
-shower in bathroom (hot n cold water)
FOOD:
absolutely love it! for breakfast choice of hot or cold dishes including eggs, sausage, pancake, toast, cereal, fresh bread, cheese, cold meet, fruits, salads, hot or cold drinks. Lunch, again lots to choose from.. love the roast beef in orange sauce-delicious. soup, spagetthi, roast potatoes, chips, fish, lots of salad, olives, etc. Fruits, ice cream cakes, jelly as a dessert.Dinner never same like lunch, always different food!
STAFF were very friendly. Jorgo (George for English people) and Sokol (big thanks to him)from bar area made us feel welcome. They talk a lot with people n were very helpfull. Receptionist welcoming-we had problems with people next room and asked for different room. Lady gave us sea view room with no extra charges.
All inclusive means free local drinks from 11am to 11pm which i didnt like it, no snacks between meals. At the beach they charge us 3euro for sun bed and 2 euro for umbrella, and we werent allow take any drinks from the bar. we could also use next hotel swimming pool (3euro/day).
however Star Beach is only up the road (4euro for sun bed) with free entrance, swimming pools, water slides, water sports, kids area, bungee jumping etc DJ play all day, there is a foam part every day, and plenty of crazy people which was brill. The city of Hersonissos is perfect for nightlife, with lots of bars, restaurants, clubs.
I wouldnt suggest Evely Beach Hotel for all inclusive. i guess better go b&b or half board so you can enjoy your holiday out of this good value hotel.

This Hotel is depicted as a 4-star, but is more likely 2.
The food is simply awful, always cold and always boring.
Every effort is made to charge for what should be included within the cost - even the shabby sunbeds on the grubby beach were at a price.
The whole atmosphere gives the impression of penny-pinching management.
We spent as much time as we could away from the place and ate in local restaurants, rather than eat the miserable meals that were provided.
As far as I can see, this hotel would be ideal for those just wishing to have a bed for the night as it is very clean, but that is all that can be said for the place.

Just returned from the Evelyn Hotel and having experienced the place, belatedly checked out the previous reviews. I have no-one to blame but myself for not reading these prior to booking. Every negative comment produced is perfectly true.
Cold food, cold showers, cold atmosphere - not a touch of luxury anywhere, together with indifferent staff and holiday rep, made this such a very disappointing week.
How the company is getting away with such a poor effort is beyond belief.
Every opportunity to cut corners on food, drinks and holiday essentials such as sunbeds etc., is taken. The place is devoid of any holiday feeling whatsoever and the penny-pinching attitude to everything made us feel uncomfortable.
The only thing that can be said about the place is that it is clean.
Never again! Don't go there.

I have just returned from the Evelyn Beach Hotel and was very disappointed. It was sold to me as a 4* but it is a 2/3*.
When I booked the holiday there was no mention of the hotel not having a pool. You have to use next doors pool which you pay 2 Euros per person per day to use and as there was 6 of us it ate in to our budget each day.
The food was pretty poor and whatever is put out at lunch is rehashed and made in to something inedible for dinner. They do like Brussel Sprouts and they were in all sorts of salads YUK!
The staff were the most unfriendly and unhelpful that I have ever come across. This is my 3rd visit to Crete and I have never encountered such surly and miserable staff. It is definately an unhappy ship as most of them spent the majority of the time having full blown arguments in front of the guests. Most of the guests found this quite entertaining and amusing!!
Talking of entertainment well quite simply there wasn't any!! The bar lacked atmosphere, warmth and friendliness!!
We went out quite a lot and the staff in the restaurants and bars that we ate and drank in were far far friendlier than back at the hotel.
The only positive I can come up with is the room as it was cleaned every day and was spotless. The maids were ever so friendly always a smile!!
It has it's own beach directly on front of the hotel but again you have to pay for sunbeds and brolly's. The sunbeds are all on top of each other and the beach is quite dirty as they only clean up the mess as and when they feel like it. There is a lovely beach about a 10/15 min walk away or 5 mins in a taxi.
We were one of 3 English families in the hotel as it is mainly made up of Dutch, German and Russian guests this didn't worry us at all as we met some lovely people but it may influence others.
As for All Inclusive it is more like full board with a few half filled glasses of drink thrown in! Again the worst All Inclusive I have ever been on.
The weather was glorious and the resort is lovely just don't stay at the Evelyn!!

this hotel is not a 4 star hotel i would rate it as a 2 star, the food was allways cold and offered three selections on there menu for lunch and dinner, some nights food was slightly better than other nights. there is no swimming pool, you can use the one next door at 2 euros each per day or pay 3 euros for sunbed and 2 euros for an umbrella per day. the rooms are very basic but clean.the room we were given on arrival had metal shutters on the outside and glass doors inside,we looked onto the next hotel so the room didnt have much air circulating even with the air con on. we went to reception and asked to be moved, we were moved to a better room for 60 euros, better, well a partial sea view and plenty of fresh air. this hotel has nothing to do at nights. on booking we were not told there was no swimming pool nor entertainment as had we been told this we would not have booked this hotel. there is very little to do by day either, if u like boat trips you are ok.i would not recomend this hotel to anyone.there are lots of mosqitos plugins dont work.i paid £430 each, i thought reasonable price for a week, boy was i wrong?

The air con is not true air con, just a cold fan that doesn't cool the room. It works only between 5pm and 5am (not good to cool off in mid day).
There is no swimming pool either, for a price you can use another hotels, and you have to pay for loungers on the beach.
All inclusive in Greece has 4 types (light, standard, classic and premier). This hotel does 'standard' which means you do not have snacks inbetween meals, you have to wait until 11am for a glass of water, fruit juice is a dilute juice and not fresh (our holiday company didn't explain this but by rights they should have).
Dinner reminded me of school dinners. The food is not served and the next meal is re-hashed food from the last meal.
Hotel was clean. Staff at reception were helpful but don't be fooled by the 'family run' hotel, there is no such atmosphere. In fact ambiance was definatly missing in the hotel.
All in all it wasn't terrible but it was a disappointment, do not pay over the odds or expect great service and food. If you want a cheap holiday with little expectation, this is it!

Absoulutley shocking service at this hotel. Food is not fit for canies unless your a Russian called Boris. All inclusive drinks is a complete sham, staff are not people friendly. Hotel is clean thats the only positive. Air con is non existant as are the bar staff- manners are shoking,
If youve booked this hotel be afraid, be very afraid. Change it now if youve got chance, you have been warned. Trust me nowhere near a 4 star, take extra money youll need it.

I’ve never really done anything like this before but I need to spread the word about the Evelyn Beach. They say it’s a 2* which I have just come back from on 29th Sept 07 and it’s now a 4* hotel.
Me and my fiancé 22yrs old have just come back from the holiday and it’s the most beautiful place I’ve been to.
HOTEL - it states it’s a 2* hotel, it’s actually 4*; that’s what it says on the building.
You've seen the pictures on the hotel, it’s very hard to judge the hotel it looks a bit dated. Take my advice the place was clean, fresh, maids came everyday to change your sheets, fresh towels. The rooms were on the small size but you have to compromise - you had bed, cupboards, mirror, hair dryer and air con and telephone all included in the package. I would recommend getting a sea view, well worth it. It costs an extra £20 but that view in morning and the sunset was to die for.
STAFF - the staff are so polite it feels like you’ve known them for years, very polite and kind, make you feel very welcome and every staff can speak many languages so you'll never feel left out. The reception are so helpful, they take you to your room ask if you want refreshments etc.
FOOD - the food wasn’t too bad but I think what annoyed me the most was a few people moaning because they didn’t like it as there were no chips or beef burgers! They’ve travelled all around the world to eat that, its crazy! It’s a European restaurant so you'll have to expect the food is going to be different! There were dishes of jelly & ice cream, fresh fruit, lots of watermelon, fresh cakes and buns, every meat you could think of. Tea/coffee, juice, lots of booze. It’s a beautiful spread and you can eat much as you like!
POOL – wouldn’t really rely on the pool too much as the beach is under your nose. If you want to use the pool you’ll have to use next doors pool - 2.50 euro includes parasol & chairs, very nice to lie around but if you don’t want to pay that go to 'Star beach’. Its 5/10mins walking distance, it’s free and it even has a few waterslides included. There’s crazy golf and bungee jumping and karting.
BEACH - you’re literally on the beach, it’s a stone throw away and the next beach 1 min out of your way walking (not even that). It’s like your own private beach. The views are gorgeous
NIGHTLIFE/ AMUSEMENTS - shops closed about 3am and bars are closed at 5am in morning. Recommend going for a drink in 'Murphy’s', an Irish bar the staff are fab.
If you love your food definitely go to 'Fotis' restaurant next door but one from the hotel. The plates were huge, full of every meat you can think of.
Recommend going to 'Water city' waterpark. You’re there all day but be very careful when you buy your meal, we bought spaghetti Bolognese, chicken & chips, fanta and beer – it cost us 40 euros, we was robbed! Think they were taking advantage so beware! Fun day to go out even the kids have a really fab section too!

Everything was basic, absolutely no entertainment. You don't get served at your table if your all inclusive you have to go to the bar where if you were half board they serve you. The Staff are friendly enough, however many people struggle with English which sometimes causes communicating difficult.
The food is also basic, they seem to love pork because you can't go one meal time without a ration of pork. The beach is quite good, it is clear enough and many fish if you take a look. Star beach just down the road is a really good beach with a nice smooth sandy beach. There is also pools in Star beach free of charge and slides which cost 8 euros per person for the whole day. You can also do watersports there. The Water City water park is a great day out.
The hotel was ok but whatever you do DON'T GO ALL INCLUSIVE!!!! It's a con, a number of things you still have to pay for, half board works out a much better deal.

After reading various reviews on the internet it was with a little bit apprehension that the holiday approached. I'm very pleased to say that most of the reviews were way off the mark; the hotel and staff were first class.
Although we were All Inclusive, it turned out to be little more that Full Board with free drinks (served 11:00-23:00) but the quality and variety of food served negated the need for snacks between meals.
The food was mainly traditional Greek fare (Stifado, kebabs, veal etc) with plenty of salad options and soup. I was there with 2 young children and there was always something that they could eat. Some guests complained about the food, but if you're in Greece you should expect to have Greek food and not sausage, egg and chips for every meal.
The staff were extremely helpful and all spoke very good English. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they all tried to make sure that your stay was as pleasant as possible.
I would definitely go back here again and would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends.

Went on holiday in July last year with 3 lads all 18. Just had to say Evelyn Beach was the best hotel we saw in Hersonnisos in terms of position and noise. 10 minutes walk from the centre and on the beach.
There’s a small pool but if like us you are going for the night life it’s not a problem. Food was average but we tended to eat out in the cheap restaurants nearby. All inclusive option is good because you can get free drinks beer/ water/ shots etc so very useful after a night out to settle your nerves before bed!
The night life was awesome and the drinks initially appear expensive but when you consider the offers most are buy one get one free with another free shot! Or 3 drinks for 1!
Overall staff were friendly especially the cleaners who put up with my mate, making the beds up around him! Would recommend it for first time trips away for groups of young people if you don’t want to sleep at night.

We arrived at 7.00 in the morning to find this hotel to be very clean, beds and towels were changed daily, the staff appeared indifferent but when we requested extra pillows at 11.00pm they obliged immediately, the food was good but basic (great if you love salads, I did, my partner doesnt!), all inclusive drinks were a big let down - watery lager, cheap and nasty coke, watered down fruit juices, only raki, ouzo and brandy available (clearly stated in the hotels rules sheet given to you on arrival), wine was okay tho. Good selection of fresh fruits at lunch and dinner times but evening meals tended to be well overcooked and dinner is served between 18.30 and 20.30 strictly which is a bit limiting really. Needless to say we ate in the hotel a total of 2 lunchtimes and once in the evening. Our room (No. 321) was situated at the back of the hotel so our balcony overlooked the residents opposite so not much privacy but it was better than nothing. Beach opposite was shingle and dried seaweed, beds cost 3 euros each, pool next door doesnt open till 10.30am and was full of noisy russians (lots of eastern europeans at this resort). We happened across a bar called Paradise further along the beach from the Silva hotel and it has a lovely pool for free use and also free sunbeds, parasols etc. Kim, the dutch girl that worked there was extremely friendly and pleasant, very clean pool and very relaxing, you have to try their fruit slushes, to die for! We spent the last 3 days of our holiday visiting the resort of Stalis, 2 stops on the bus from Hersonissos. It was fantastic, lovely clean sandy beach, 4 euros for 2 beds, 1 parasol and a table, sea was a little rough here but lovely. Always a cool breeze blowing. Chinese and Thai massages offered on beach which I tried both of, fantastic, you must have at least one of these. Friendly staff at the bar outside where we lay, bringing freebie rakis and peach schnapps for the ladies frequently during the day with our drinks. It was much less commercialised than Hersonissos and everything was so much cheaper, restaurants there were excellent, you have to try Maria's Golden Beach, it was the best restaurant of our stay, plate smashing at 9.0 o'clock each night, traditional greek music very friendly and helpful waiters not rushing you. Robin Hood's cafe there gave the best english breakfast, very reasonable too, only 3.50 euros whereas in Hersonissos we were paying roughly 6 euros per head and it wasnt proper english sausage or bacon. We had a lovely holiday but next time we will definately be staying in Stalis, Hersonissos is too commercialised for us and too expensive, dearer than being back home in England in fact, food drink and gift-wise. So, unfortunately we would not return to the Evelyn Beach unless it was on a B&B basis and Stalis had no rooms left!
