The complex and facilities are excellent value for money. It is all kept very clean and it is in good position in a small and attractive resort that is within an easy walk of Puerto Rico.
The on site pools and local beach are both really good and the staff are most helpful.
My wife and I would certainly go there again.
Travelling around the area is quite easy and reasonably priced by reliable bus services.

We have just returned from the Gran Amadores apts and can reliably say that this accomodation gave my family and I a throroughly enjoyable holiday. The rooms themselves are basic, bright and clean, the notable absentees are air conditioning and a kettle. They were cleaned to a good standard every other day,and fresh towels were supplied on the same timescale. There were no incidents of drunken rowdiness and the vast majority of fellow residents were very friendly.
The pool area was clean and well kept with absolutely no problem securing sun loungers and plenty of room for everyone to relax. The pool bar/eaterie'SCOTCH CORNER' was staffed by friendly people and served good british grub(Bellybuster breakfast is a must). The apartments are located 5 minutes from amadores' superb beach and nearby bars/restaurants.Nearby Puerto Rico is a 25 min walk along the promenade or a €3/4 taxi ride.Puerto Rico is well worth a visit offering countless bars, shops and restaurants.
Based on our experience we would highly reccomend these apartments and would have given 9/10 had much needed air con been availiable, the fan we rented just did'nt do enough.Gran Amadores apts are not 5 star but, offered us good, clean, value for money apartments.£954 for a family of 4 for a week in the school holidays, inc flights and transfers.enough said!

We had a fabulous holiday at the Gran Amadores. (family 4). The aptms were basic but very comfortable. Maids came in every second day and cleaned the place.
Kids loved the pool area, had to drag them up at 8pm!!!!! Scotch Corner was ok, however couldn't sit there every night. 5 mins away in taxi to Puerto Rico thats where the night life is.
Amadores beach is beautiful and loads of places to eat and drink.
Highly recommend it.

Gran Amadores is located at the bottom of the hill about 5 minutes walk from the superb but small Amadores Beach. Small, but never any problem getting a space and several places to eat. It is around a 20 minute walk to Puerto Rico itself, over a clifftop path that has been constructed. Not for the breathless, as a couple of bits a quite a climb! A taxi ride will just be a couple of euros.
We travelled with Seguro and could not fault them one bit - they were excellent from the minute we left Prestwick to the time we left Amadores the following week. Reps were older, knew their stuff, and didn't try to sell you things.
Apartments are basic but clean and nice, fairly modern. Living room, small kitchen with all the necessities, shower rm and bedroom. Only downside is no air con, which is a must in summer. Can hire fans, but these just recycle warm air. Pools are lovely but the usual mad race for loungers becomes tiresome after a day or two, hence the advantage of the beach close by. The balconies are not that private - a 3 foot wall between each one. Great if you want to get to know the neighbours, but not great if you want privacy. Ground floor flats have terraces which lead into the flat, meaning guests are walking directly past your terrace to acess their flat. No kids club or kids activities were providced.
The guests were from very mixed backgrounds, but unfortunately some of the clientele were ill mannered, rude, and foul mouthed, showing no consideration for other guests, by shouting and swearing in the pool area and drinking and making lots of noise to the wee small hours on the balconies. We didn't bother too much ourselves, but others did and if we had kids with us, we would have left. The management did tell them to keep the noise down at 2am one morning, but with little effect. Conversations with other guests suggest this was not a one off occurance.
I would definately go back to the Amadores area and would travel with Seguro again, but in light of the poor behaviour of some guests, and the fact it was pretty much unchallenged, I would not go back to this complex. The saving grace however of this complex is its close proxity to the beach and facilities.

resort is a superb, quiet setting. ideal for a family holiday. puerto rico just round the cove if you're looking for something livelier, but definitely a lot tackier than amadores. would recommend 'la barca' on the beach, and a visit to the much plusher Dunas and Gloria Palace hotels is a must, if only to see the stunning sunsets. If you're feeling fit take a hike up the hill and catch the views from up there. One minor complaint regarding the Gran Amadores accommodation... I think this may have been a one off occurance, as no other review had previously mentioned it, but as every room was taken the week we were there, a crazy senario developed with all the sunbeds being covered in towels before 7am, but most were'nt actually used 'til after mid-day ! A right royal pain which should have been nipped in the bud by management, as several people complained. It was 4 days before they took steps and was easily resolved. By the way, we checked the 10 day weather forecast before we went. The prediction of 26 degrees was way off, as it was 35 degrees all week ! hot hot hot. Overall we were very happy with Amadores. A real find, and we'll definitely be back.

I would recommend these apartments, especially Room 301 which is the top left corner room with a huge balcony and lovely sea view. Its a very quiet resort which is lovely. Nothing is allowed after 11.30pm which is the local law as there is no intention to turn Amadores into a mini Puerto Rico. Not a very romantic holiday with fixed single beds! Sheets only changed once a week. The Seguro reps were very professional. Met lovely couple but didn't manage to get their contact details before we left. No building works, racket or groups of youngsters so ideal for peace and quiet. A lovely holiday.

WHAT CAN I SAY BUT A BRILLIIANT HOLIDAY!!!! AGAIN!!!! SECOND TIME ME MY HUSBAND AND BOY AGED 11 HAVE CAME TO GRAN AMADORES APARTMENTS AND WOULD NOT GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! MY REVIEW IS STILL ON THE SITE FROM LAST YEAR AND WOULD SAY THE SAME ALL OVER AGAIN! I LOVE THESE APARTMENTS AND SO DID ANYONE I WAS SPEAKING TO THERE. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY AND DONT WANT TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN GO HERE, TWICE I HAVE BEEN THERE I WATCHED MY SON AND ALL OTHER CHILDREN HAVING THE TIME OF THEIR LIVES! VERY SAFE WITH ONLY ONE ENTRENCE TO THE APARTMENTS SO YOU CAN SEE THEM AT ALL TIMES AS EVERYTHING FACES THE POOL. THE APARTMENTS WERE VERY CLEAN AND EVERYONE IS VERY FRIENDLY. THE BEACH WHICH IS 5 MINUTES WALK AWAY IS LIKE A PICTURE OF A TROPICAL ISLAND AND LOTS OF NICE RESTURANTS ALONG THE BEACH, SO YOU CAN EAT YOUR MEAL AND WATCH THE SPECTACULAR SUNSET ON THE BEACH AT THE SAME TIME. RECOMMEND CHIO CHIO'S THE ITALIAN RESTURANT AS THE SERVICE AND FOOD IS SPECTACULAR. GREAT WALK TO PUERTO RICO AND GREAT ICE-CREAM IN GLORIA PALACE BAR HALF WAY ROUND . CHECK MY LAST REVIEW JUNE 07 FOR MORE INFORMATION. CANT WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Just returned from Gran Amadores apartments and could not fault them, and had I paid twice as much would not have been disapointed, they are exactly as described, totally adequate and equiped except kettle and toaster ! , as mentioned in the many good reviews,
Very clean, towels changed every couple of days and maid cleaning regularly,
The views from the balcony overlooking the ocean and beach are fabulous and must rank among the very best on the island, and perfect to sit with that pre meal drink before going for dinner!,
The Scotch Corner bar on site is fine, my partner liked the food ( though I didnt !, must be just me, as others all seemed to have enjoyed it ! ), the local beer good, the staff friendly and watch out for the happy hour twice a day, two drinks for the price of one, but only on " local drinks ",
Lots of good eateries down by the beach, but do try the restaurant Playa Amadores, on the corner, right hand side just before you cross the road to the beach , similar prices to the beach restaurants, but the quality of the food and service a little superior, we went back more than once!, and the highlight of the local restaurants had to be the Beach Club ? ( the one at the end of the beach, on the righthand side looking out to sea ) again, fantastic service, delicious food served with a flair for only a little extra cost, but more than worth it, the sunset is wonderful from here,
And yes, we did go to Port Mogan on the ferry, took the long trip via the dolphin watch area, didnt see any dolphins, but well worth the money, enjoyed yet another few beers and an excellent meal in the square there, overlooking the harbour and people watching, a nice few hours,
We went into Puerto Rico a couple of times along the cliff path, a lovely walk, but not having been to Puerto Rico for several years, had the happy memories of the previous visit, shattered by what appears to have turned into local "Blackpool with sun ", dirty, noisy, full of lookie, lookie men and time share touts, and that so called Shopping Centre is like something from a third world country, Glad to heading back to Gran Amadores pronto, back to a nice peaceful place ( must be getting old ! ),
Will definately be returning here again soon.

just back from Gran Amadores apartments. We had a great time. The apartments are clean and spacious and the pool area is lovely. Never had a problem getting sun loungers.
Nice walk to the beach. Easy walk in to Puerto Rico, but avoid the shops round the harbour as the salesmen push cameras in your face and are very pushy.
The staff in the apartments are very friendly, likewise the Scotch Corner bar.
We went to the apartments next door a couple nights to watch the entertainment, which was quite good especially the hypnotist, but the drinks are more expensive. A trip to Mogan is also a must, we went there by public bus, the views on the journey were spectacular if you can stand heights.
Would thoroughly recommend these apartments. We are planning another holiday there this year.

Overall, I disliked the accomodation interior as it was extremely basic and a bit of an eye sore to look at, however the cleanliness was ok and the views were spectacular as they over looked the atlantic ocean.
The staff at Gran amadores were very pleasant indeed and enjpyed having a laugh. If basic and boring is your idea of fun then I say "what the heck, go for it! your worth it!"

a 2nd honeymoon for us we were looking for peace and quiet and busy when we wanted we got exactly that the place was quiet , clean and pure bliss getting away from the buzz of life. The photos do not do the place justice the apartment was lovely and clean the pool area was lovely and clean the bar staff made us feel very welcome there was only a couple of nights entertainment both great nights at the pool bar the entertainment will increase when the season is in full swing. we went into porto rico couple of times taxi very cheap had a good time but was glad to get back to our tranquil apartment area highly recommend it for people looking for a peacefull break away .

Thanks to everyone for their feedback we based this last minute two week trip on your comments and you were spot on. We wanted peace and quiet thats exactly what we got. The apartments are described as basic so we did'nt expect much however were pleasantly surprised I am a real fuss pot. They are spacious and have all mod cons, you can rent a fan (you will need it fairly high temperatures this week ) travel kettle advice was spot on too makes a big difference. No grumpy bar staff they were all very pleasant. Nice places to eat recommend Italian on the beach and Zenubia, if you want to push the boat out go to the Amadores Beach Club fantastic food and chill out lounge. Would recommend a trip to Puerto Mogan on the ferry really nice. My only criticism is they need to invest in some larger sheets! Already planning a return trip. Enjoy !

Just back from here and what a holiday I had. the apartments are basic but what do you need when your on holiday? A bed, shower and somewhere to cook. Its not as if your going to be sitting in the apartment all day long. I have no complaints what so ever. The people at the reception are friendly and very helpful, the bar on the complex beside the pool is very welcoming and very clean. The grub is brilliant aswell. the three ladies behind the bar (Leigh, Paula and Fae) are very pleasent and love a good laugh and a bit of banter. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the apartments and is very clean and well maintained. There is a mini supermarket within the reception area of the apartments and a Spar a few minutes walk around the corner. The night life in Puerto rico is great and Playa de Ingles as well. There are lots to do, I strongly recommend the dolphin tour which is 24 euros per person and lasts for two and half hours from puerto rico. There is a pub in Puerto Rico called La Fiesta is fantastic with entertainment on every night starting around midnight, and also Sparkles in Playa de ingles. You must check these out you will go away in fits of laughter and an all time high. Hope you have a great holiday the way I did, all being well I will be returning again next year.

Just back from these apartments, went with my sister and my 84yr old father..we had a fantastic time, very friendly mostly scottish people who know how to enjoy themselves.Quite basic apartments but lets face it you get what you pay for, they were clean and the pool area is great.very handy for the beautiful clean amadores beach.i can highly recommend the Irish cottage for food, excellent food with friendly service. We will definately go back there very soon.great for all ages...quiet area with a 3 euro taxi ride to puerto rico.also recommend a visit to magan on a friday for the market.A great night out in Dicey Rileys is a must for anyone who likes the irish music and the billy connolly type humour.

just arrived back from the gran amadores which was my second time there.
again had no faults with the accomadation as they were exactly how i had remembered them from the last time. i would reccomend you take a travel kettle with you as there is no kettle in the apartment but with the usuall basic kitchenette.
if you are looking for cheaper groceries go to the hyperdino just underneath the highlander bar which is alot cheaper than netto and spar(i got a 5 litre bottle of water for 1 euro 5 cents) and it also cut alot from my shopping bill.
if you are booking excursions please please please dont go with fabiar as the guide that i got spoke very little english on the excursion and kinda smelled abit.
