Me and my family really enjoy Gran Amadores apartments we have been two years running.
The staff of the reception and also the scoth corner (poolside bar) are very friendly towards the people staying in the apartment the only thing wrong is in and around the pool there are a few tiles missing. The entertainment is good but not enough people join in. The apartments are very basic but clean the cleaners are very friendly and towels are changed every two days and bedding once a week.
I recommend people to go to these apartments as it is a family complex and exclusive to Scottish. To get to Puerto Rico town centre you ask at the reception and they phone a taxi.

Jul 2006, Miss I Noble

I arrived at this hotel after quite a long bus journey from the airport. I was welcomed into my hotel room with a lovely big cockroach on my pillow and an even lovelier grasshopper on the floor. When I complained to the hotel staff who worked at main reception, he said he didn't speak English!! You’re working at a hotel why?! The hotel "entertainment" at night was laughable!! The nightlife in Puerto Rico wasn't much better. A few nice restaurants in the Europa centre, and the Barbacoa was a laugh with the shows that were on. The Highlander Bar would be great for any Rangers fans to visit as it always created a good atmosphere and was always busy. There is literally nothing to do in Gran Canaria but go to pubs to be hounded by annoying English people and even more annoying English families with their bratty children! Never ever again! The hotel itself was quite nice and pools were decent sizes, but other than this Gran Canaria is totally boring!

Went to Gran Amadores for 2 weeks on June 2006.Major construction work being carried out at rear of hotel. This noise lasted from 7am to 6pm every day! I booked this 6 months ago and was warned on the internet about noise but seguro said there would be no noise. If you go there take some ear plugs as you have karaoke every night to 11.30 then building work at 7 so there’s not much time for sleep. Entertainment in Gran amadores is poor but the hotel next door has some great shows at night. The beach is fantastic and for a quiet night out go down to the beach for some great food (try Robinsons) Puerto rico has good nightlife and a Chinese buffet night is a must! The problem with Gran Amadores is its only half built and you are between construction sites. A holiday is only what you make it! If you want to see some pictures or any have any questions my email is :-fred.bingham@ntlworld.com

My husband and I took our granddaughter age 6 for her first holiday abroad stayed at the Gran Amadores apartments in Puerto Rico and loved every minute of it.
Very clean apartments 5 minutes walk from the very clean beach. There is some building going on and around but you don’t hear them. Only 2.5 euros to commercial centre where most of the nightlife is by taxi. Depending on your team favourites plenty of Celtic bars especially the huddle where we were made very welcome even with a child.
The Chinese restaurant upstairs from the huddle is excellent value for money all in all excellent pools kept clean we are going back for hubbies birthday in December.

What a wonderful holiday we always have at the Gran Amadores apartments fantastic & clean. Staff & Reps alike were lovely, maids in every day & also pleasant. We went somewhere else this year in April thinking we should broaden our horizons a bit. But hey! Were we wrong & will book soon for Gran Amadores again for Sept this year.
This will be our 8th holiday to Puerto Rico in 4 years and have stayed at the Gran Amadores since it opened. We hope we haven’t left it too late to book for sept however, as we will be disappointed. If you like good steak, service and prices, then a visit to the steakhouse Sabadan as you enter the Commercial Centre is a must.
Its on the right, what lovely welcome and service you will receive. Cant wait till September 2006.

Jun 2006, Miss S Mcmillan

We departed from Prestwick airport on the 31st of May on an evening flight.
It took 3 hours to get to our hotel. Don’t know why they don’t use Gerona airport, instead of Barcelona.
If you are over 40 and enjoy a peaceful nights sleep, then don’t use this hotel. We had a 3 star sundeal and I would never use this company again. The hotel was full of young German & Spanish youths, who partied/sang & played loud music from 6pm till 5am. It was horrendous. I believe that if you were overlooking the football stadium, then you had a better chance of sleep.
The food was not what you would expect from a 3 star hotel, so I lived on salads most of the week. The hamburgers were pink inside.
The resort is beautiful though and so was the weather.
On our return to Barcelona airport, we were taken to the wrong part of the building. It took over 1.5 hours to check in and no time to go round the 'duty free' shops. For someone who usually pre boards, it was terrible, running through the airport, on the last call, to catch our flight.
Never again!

I stayed in the Gran Amadores Apartments in Puerto Rico for one week in August, the apartments were very clean inside and out. The maid came every day and cleaned (even done the dishes).
The rooms were a great size, they have a TV (pay as you go) microwave, fridge, freezer, and pots and pans the only thing I would recommend is taking a travel kettle as that’s the only thing that was missing or you come hire it from the reception.
All the staff throughout the week were more than friendly the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. The apartments were only a 2minute walk away from the beach which was superb the beach was very clean and very busy.
There were shops and restaurants all along the beach which was great if you just wanted to nip out from the apartments. There is also a small shop located at the apartments. I think these apartments would be ideal for everyone as you are not right in the centre of everything so it is your choice if you want to head out to the nightlife which is a 20minute walk into Puerto Rico or if you were just wanting to keep it quiet and stay at the pool bar or nip down to one of the local restaurants.
If you wanted to be more involved with the nightlife it is a 20min walk into Puerto Rico or a 5min taxi ride which is only about 4euros and it just takes you right into the centre which is full of clubs and bars. You can also make a night of it and go into Playa Del Ingles which was the highlight of my holiday as the clubs were fantastic, it only costs 20euros to get into from the apartments, I would recommend Linekers, zig zags and ask in linkers about the school discos which are wild.
Overall the apartments were fantastic as we never had any hassle with anything and when you came home and night it would be straight to be as they would not tolerate and late night noise which is very suitable for families.

Jan 2006, DAGNIA

My holiday in 2003 was the best holiday of my life I really enjoyed staying at the Gran Amadores apartments.
It wasn’t far from the commercial centre and only a short walk from the beach and the Europe centre were there is lots of entertainment every night and the people are really friendly.
If you are looking for apartments to sty in in Gran Canaria then the Gran Amadores are the ones to go to!

Holiday booked with Seguro Holidays...
9 / 10
Sep 2004, Mr Dave Walker

Holiday booked with Seguro Holidays via Thomas Cook
We Flew from Prestwick Airport on the late night flights that depart on a Sunday. We arrived in las Palmas at the ungodly hour of 0430 and passed through the deserted airport and met our Rep whose welcome consisted of ‘don’t loose this piece of paper it will be needed to get your Key’.
Climbing on to our Coach the tired masses nearly raising a whimper to the "say Ola to our coach driver Pedro"(name changed to protect his licence).
We arrived safely at the apartments ,crickets cricketing and the first of the towels arriving on the sunloungers. To Begin our 25th wedding anniversary Holiday.
The apartments
Gran AMADORES APARTMENTS
Have I am told just moved into their second season. The apartments are in a good sized corner under a cliff face and consist of three floors and about 90 one bedroom apartments, all of which are single beds a good sized bathroom and a living room/kitchen area with pay per view television (nothing of interest except Hallmark television and BBC WORLD).
The view from the Balcony of our first floor apartment was superb a sea view that allowed a relaxed view of the boats passing and the spectacular sunset that started the night activities in this area of Gran Canaria.
The apartments are as you would expect modern and new with two decent sized pools and a baby pool, the "scotch corner" pool bar is used by seguro for the Welcome Meetings
As new as it is it is already showing signs of Being tired around and in the pools tiles are missing the staff are unable to keep the tiles that are still intact as clean as they should be.
The BEACH
Amadores Beach itself is a 15-20 min walk around the corner from Puerto Rico itself and is a superb white man made beach ..consisting of a semi circle of shops bars and restaurants under canapé covers a bay with blue and even darker blue sea cant say any more to sell this and the fact its a mere 150 to 200 yards max walk to it from the apartments.
And THE SPOTLESS facilities toilets and showers sited on the main walk way make it a pleasure to visit...who needs Puerto Rico....if you want peace and quiet and a chilled out Holiday.
If not then a 2euro 50 cent(or three euros with a tip) taxi ride the equivalent of a visit to the rides at Alton towers with the white mercs being driven by formulae 1 drivers will take you to either up the hill to the Europa Center or into Puerto rico to the Centro commercial.
All in all this was my idea of a peaceful holiday with the time share touts of Puerto rico well out my way and the boat ride from its harbour instead of the bus round to Puerto mogan for a day out to the market letting us see the amazing coastline of Gran Canaria in a different way.
Meals/eating out
Something for everyone ,best meal for me was in Puerto mogan in a small restaurant by the harbour with Grilled fresh fish with canarian potatoes and mojo sauce....mmm delicious
In Puerto Rico Best value and most wasted food award cos you cant possibly eat it all. Was Churchill’s(Winston) go for the pork fillets and try and finish the plate. Bet you cant. Check it out in the Centro commercial...best Steakhouse we tried was the black bull (Negri)both on the upper floor of the Centro commercial...worst and one to avoid was la marina steakhouse in the europa center (just at the steps from the taxi ranks) worst meals worst service and worst staff awards for the holiday.
Also note that the 5% VAT IS NOT INCLUDED on the bill until they total up...not much but its still to go on that bargain meal.
If you Just want a cheap Drink....
M&MS BAR TOP FLOOR CENTRO COMMERCIAL
1 euro a pint cannot say more than that ..Go to it,, all beers not local cervasa dorada or the like...we bought two large glasses off lager a coke and a bottle of water and it cost 3 euro 80.
Excellent service from a small bar...Its next door to the drag artists bar at the rear end of the Centro commercial.
After a holiday that weather wise started and finished at 33.5degrees each day and 27.5 each night A fan was indeed required as no air conditioning was included in these apartments or in the three star hotel that is adjacent.
Our holiday was from day one to end what we had hoped for and on the end, only sad note was our flight home. Having boarded our flight delayed by 20 minutes we were flying home we encountered a medical emergency after an HOUR into the flight we had to turn back to Gran Canaria we had then to disembark and go back into the terminal. Where we were left to sit from 2040 until 2300 without any information on what was happening. After a young man and his girlfriend had walked off the flight...asthma or heart attack depending on who you spoke to....flight left and after the 4 hour flight with only some comedy clips and an episode of Mr Bean to contend with we arrived into the windswept and raining Prestwick on a flight that arrived 5.5 hours late and ended our holiday and returned into the real world. A temperature drop of 20 degrees ..Glad I had ignored the smiles of my fellow holidaymakers when I had put on my jeans before leaving the apartments...Hopefully Techie will post some pics I have and you will see Amadores beach is indeed a quality location and the Gran amadores Apartments an excellent location that has lift access to all floors and easy access for disabled users.
