Arrived at the Gran Amadores apartments around midday and were quickly and without fuss shown to our apartment, which was on the second floor.
Apartment was spotless comprising a bedroom with two single beds, kitchen/lounge area in which the sofa converted into a twin bed, TV etc.
Balcony had stunning sea views. All in all, apartment, although basic, was excellent.
Facilities included 3 pools (1 kids pool), pool bar/snack bar which was called "Scotch Corner”. Pool bar was slightly pricier than most other places but I suppose you can expect that.
Only downside was that on our 1st week’s holiday, pool bar closed at 6 o'clock each evening.
Beautiful Amadores Beach is only 5 mins walk from the apartments which has a range of places to eat and drink, and the resort of Puerto Rico is only 20/25 mins walk along a stunning costal path, which has as many restaurants and bars as you can imagine.
Staff at the Gran Amadores Apartments were extremely friendly and helpful as was the maid service, which too was excellent.
All in all we had a great holiday and wouldn't hesitate in going back.

My fiancé and I stayed at Gran Amadores apartments for 1 week in July 2007. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would definitely go back.
The apartments are terrific. They have a living room (with pay TV), bedroom, bathroom, and fully equipped kitchen with lots of utensils.
The rooms are all very spacious and kept very clean and tidy. There is also a balcony complete with table and chairs which is great for relaxing with a drink.
Gran Amadores apartments have 3 pools which are great for families. It also has an onsite bar called Scotch corner, which sells good food (for lunch & snacks) and drinks.
The apartments are just a 5 minute walk to Amadores beach, where there are varied restaurants, Play Park, and a mini golf course.
The only reason we decided to give this accommodation/location a 9/10 is due to the fact that there is not much night life in Amadores (not any bars/nightclubs). For this guests would have to travel to Puerto Rico, which is a 20minute scenic walk away or 3 Euros in a taxi ride. The taxi service is great in Gran Canaria!
We felt that Amadores itself could benefit from a bar that remained open until 2am for those guests who want to party later.
However, despite the lack of bars (needed by most Scots) we would highly recommend this accommodation/location and will definitely consider returning next year.
1) These apartments are located in the flatter part of Gran Canaria.
2) Give the Scotch corner BBQ a miss we heard it wasn't worth the money.
3) Visit Puerto Mogan and have some food it is great.
4) Go to Aqualand it is ace!
5) Don't miss the Scotch Corner Reptile show...kids will love it (even big kids)!

We stayed at the Gran Amadores and the holiday was fantastic. We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the staff were all friendly that belong to the Amadores.
The entertainment is a bit same old same old and the karaoke thing gets boring after a while, so we didn't stay there long at night!
The resort is fantastic for families and the beach is wonderful. You have the opportunity to go into Puerto Rico for nightlife for about 3 Euros.
Will definitely be back great value for money and flying from Prestwick was hassle free.

I am just back from my holidays at the Gran Amadores apartments. Me, my husband, and my boy aged 10.
The Gran Amadores apartments are very clean, nicely decorated and a gorgeous big balcony that faces the pool.
My list could go on and on as we loved everything about them, especially watching the sunset from our balcony. Everyone was very helpful and friendly and you have your safety deposit box in your room for a small fee, and can hire a fan and they have a mini market at reception for essentials.
On the computer the beach looks a bit away but I can assure you its only 5 mins away.
The entertainment closes at midnight which is great if you go to your bed early or have a young family, but if you want to be up to all hours a taxi to puerto rico for about 3 Euros will take you there and also the reception are happy to call one for you.
As I said I have a young boy who had the time of his life, it was very safe for children, and he had lots of fun at the apartments or at the beautiful beach, which was so clear and looked like a postcard from a tropical island.
We really didn’t want to come home and can’t wait to go back again and again and again.

I loved this place! I and my boyfriend went here for our first holiday and were both very impressed! I was 17 and my boyfriend was 19 at the time but I can say that these apartments would suit all ages!
We arrived late at night but were kindly welcomed and quickly attended to! Once in our apartment we found a lovely, modern layout (these apartments are fairly newly built), lovely bathroom, beautiful balcony from which you have a view of the pool and the sea in the distance, and a pleasant bedroom and small kitchen! What else do you need!
All I can say to people who weren't happy with their stay is don’t go to a 3* expecting a 5*. For the price paid, these apartments are great value for money and very comfortable for a 2 week stay!
Amadores is a beautiful little resort; it is quiet and peaceful, although slightly expensive! A short walk from the apartments takes you to the stunning man-made beach, where there are some lovely restaurants and bars and also some shops!
Although we loved Amadores, we headed into Puerto Rico most nights for some good nightlight, we weren't disappointed (don’t get me wrong it’s definitely not Magaluf but there’s plenty to do and it kept us busy!) Only a few Euros in a taxi and your there, bonus is there will be no one being sick on your doorstep at 4am once you get back to your apartments.
All in all we found the apartments and locations spot on, we loved it and can’t wait to go back again!
Don't think twice about going to Gran Amadores, and take no notice of the few bad reviews!

Me and my boyfriend stayed at gran amadores in June last year, it was our first holiday together, and it was great!
When we arrived it was night time and we were surprised at how close the beach was to the apartments. We checked in which was really quick and easy. We walked past the pool which looked lovely.
There were ramps to get your suitcases up then we went up in the lift to our apartment which was on the top floor (there are only 3).
When we got in our apartment we just thought it was great, it was really spacious, it had a large bedroom with 2 twin bed and mirrored wardrobes, the bathroom had a toilet, sink, and a walk in shower, the kitchen was in the living area and had a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, and every utensil you need.
The living area had a sofa which could be used as a bed as well, and a pay TV. The balcony was massive with table and chairs and coz it was the top floor it didn’t have a roof over it so the sun would be on it all day so I would recommend requesting the top floor.
The pool was good and there were always sun loungers available. The poolside bar was good but food and drink were a bit overpriced. Every balcony faced the pool!
We liked the fact that it was in a quieter area but still had some nice bars and restaurants down along the edge of the beach (you literally walk off the sand into the restaurants and you can watch the sunset as you have your meal).
These restaurants were a bit more expensive than the ones in puerto rico, which is about 20 mins walk round the walkway on the edge of the hill. The views are amazing.
Taxis into puerto rico were only 4 Euros at most and took about 5 mins and the guys at reception were happy to phone one for you.
We went into puerto rico every night as there wasn’t much evening entertainment. But we are young and wanted the nightlife anyway we were just glad that we didn’t have it all the time as amadores is nice and peaceful during the day which was what we wanted.
My mum and dad went there last year as well but at a different time and they loved it too, they took my sister who was 13 and she made lots of friends.
Definitely going back!

We stayed at the Gran Amadores Apartments in Amadores, just 20 minute walk to Puerto Rico or 5 minutes in a taxi.
The apartments and resort were gorgeous; beach was like a bounty advert in both resorts.
Nightlife in Puerto Rico even in May was great, something for everyone.
Food was superb everywhere we ate.
I would highly recommend Gran Canaria and also Seguro Holidays 1st class service in every way!
We will be returning to these apartments again and again...

I & my partner went to these apartments for a week’s holiday & I can honestly say it was the best week’s holiday I’ve ever had & I speak for both of us!
The resort of Amadores is beautiful, very clean, the beach is like something from a Bounty advert, the sea is crystal clear & the weather was glorious.
You are only a 20 minute walk to the lovely & lively resort of Puerto Rico where it caters for everyone’s taste.
The Gran Amadores Apartments were superb, very clean & the pool etc was immaculate, staff cleaning & tidying day and night. All the staff were very pleasant & helpful.
The rooms were cleaned everyday which I was very pleased with, and the view from the balcony was lovely too.
All in all there is not a bad word I could say about Gran Amadores Apartments or the resort & I will definitely be returning there again very soon.

I went with my girlfriend for two weeks. It took us a incredible amount of time to reach our hotel at least three hours as we had a late flight we finally arrived at 3.30am.
The food was very poor and the pool was dirty all the time one day we decided to take a swim when it looked as if it had been cleaned we were in the pool for about five minutes when my girlfriend at the time got a piece of glass stuck in her heel as you can imagine this was very painful and ruined her holiday as she struggled to walk without extreme discomfort.
When I approached the manager his complete lack of care disgusted me we did say to our rep about the incident but nothing was done. The only plus point was the friendly staff at scots corner.

Went to Puerto Rico with partner and 1 yr old son. Gran Amadores Apartments were spotless, staff at reception and poolside bar were very friendly.
Walk into Puerto Rico was stunning and took about half an hour walking fairly slow, getting an ice cream half way. Can also get a bus from just round the corner for about 1 Euro each (didn't pay for baby).
Didn’t like the bbq night at the apts though not up to much and was 10 Euro each.
Was told about building work before we went but didn't hear anything as we spent most of the day at the pool, the beach or going into Puerto Rico.
Would recommend it for all the family.

If you are looking for a very peaceful holiday these are the apartments for you! The Pool Bar closed are 5pm every day & there was no entertainment on any night! On the positive side the apartments were clean and had lovely views.
Amadores Beach is only 5 minutes walk & is a manmade beach so the sand does not get hot! Staff are friendly and very helpful. A taxi into Puerto Rico (about 5 minutes away) will cost you about 3 Euro. You can also walk along the cliff walk which will take you about 20 minutes. There is a supermarket onsite or you can use the one at the hotel next door.
There is also a launderette in the hotel next door which is handy. It is on the 3rd floor but you can use the lift. There is a large washing machine & tumble drier. Saves you taking all the dirty clothes home!

Just returned from a brilliant holiday at the Gran Amadores Apartments at Playa del Amadores and were delighted when our flights were delayed for 3 days.
In a very quiet location, short uphill walk from the beautiful Amadores beach. Apartment’s basic, but well equipped. Apartments and pool area cleaned daily and towels also changed daily.
Staff at reception and bar very nice and helpful. Lovely walk into Puerto Rico along the cliff top path- takes about 20 minutes, gives you the chance to exercise off all the lovely food you will eat both in Amadores beach and Puerto Rico.
Would recommend the Greek restaurant at the Marina in Puerto Rico - Cafe Rhodes I think it was called, and Anexo restaurant on Playa del Amadores - food delicious. Staff in Anexo restaurant particularly nice- wouldn't give you the bill until you accepted a drink on the house!
If you are looking for a lively holiday with lots of night life you would be best staying in Puerto Rico itself - it was too lively for us and we got a bit fed up with people trying to talk us into going into their bars and restaurants. We found where we were to be the ideal base as a taxi to Puerto Rico was only 2-3 Euros.
