Fabulous short break
10 / 10
Mar 2011, SarahS

We've just returned from a short break at the Do Golfe and can't stop raving about it. It was our first trip to Portugal and definitely not our last. Vilamoura is convenient to Faro airport and such a beautiful area. The hotel is keep spotless. Staff were friendly and while we only ate in the restuarant one night the food was good and service brilliant (with the waiter doubling as barman he had his work cut out).
I'd recommend this to anyone who has a car and is looking for a quiet, relaxing break.

Just had a long weekend on a golfing break on half board basis. Breakfast brilliant. Although limited choice for dinner, the food was excellent quality & waitresses happy to change things when asked.
Room was great with & balcony, kitchenette & the best shower I have had in a long time. Pillows a bit hard but Reception happy to change or give more. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Cosy bar which created a great social atmosphere & able to chat to everyone about the day's golf.
Walk in to Vilamoura took 40mins & taxi back was 6 euros. Thought there would have been more going on in Vilamoura so a bit disappointed as so few shops.
Golf was great & weather super for golf at this time of year. Old course rather expensive but Hotel booked & passed on small discount. Free shuttle to/from golf courses a great services.
Possibly not the best choice if you don't golf & therefore would need a car to get out & about

Just got back from a long weekend (27/08/10 - 30/08/10)
Good value for what we paid, food was ok nothing fancy plenty of it. We were half board the room had a fridge, kettle cups, plates, cutlery and a cork screw.Room was spacious and cleaned every day.
Pool area spotless and plenty of sun loungers.
Not a hotel for children as there is nothing for them to do but play in the pool.

Wonderful place to stay. Just had 1 week there June 2010 and having done States and most of Europe this was the nicest peaceful break we have ever had.
Staff were great the rooms are superb and have everything you could need. Fridge, air-con, cutlery glasses even a cork screw. Clean, very safe and friendly. I recommend this for anyone wishing a quite peaceful time.
Its is listed as a golf resort, having so many golf courses around vilamoura. Great food and the pool was spotless. We highly recommend this. The free mini bus 4 times daily to Vilamoura is brilliant for self catering. Supermarket run every morning at 9.30.

Just returned from staying at the do golf, the room that we had was very clean and the maids were in everyday to clean and change the towels. The beds were soooo uncomfy, very hard. some of the bar staff were less helpful than others and the same can be said of the reception staff. There was a singer 1 night a week (the same one was there the next week) and no other entertaiment on the site. Nothing to do on the site apart from lay on the sun loungers (Plenty of these for eveyone). The food on site was good (try the omlette and pizza).
The 10 min walk to the marina wold be more like an hour and the heat that we had this would not be possible. The bus service which the hotel provided stopped at 5pm, and I dont think that many people want to go out for dinner at this time, so you were spending around 7 euros on a taxi each night (X2 X14 =169 euro's for 2 weeks) ( a bit much when you have not budgeted fro this)
Nothing much in the marina, restaurnts and pubs but no entertaiment at all. O'neills is a good place to go for someting to eat and the staff are really good.
Went to the zoomaria, this was a good day out with plenty to see for the day ( the divers were great)the actors before the shows were fantastic really got the crowds going, it is not expensive when you get into the zoomarina for food and drinks, the katamarn boat trip was alright, it was a day out, but the jeep safari.....that was something good, what an experience.
Went to the gypsy market on the last day, waste of time , hundred of stalls all selling the same tings (nothing much)this took us about an hour to walk to from the marina, not really worth it.
Just to let you know that Faro airport is a joke on your return journey, all you do is stand in lines of people that seem to go on forver but these do go down quite fast, we didnt have time to get anything to eat at the airport even though we were there 2 and a half hour before the flight.
Dont think that we would go back here, due to the lack of things to do. met Nice people while away, Christine and Paul and Gordon and Norma, some of us shared the same opinions about the place and lack of things to do, burt then others thought that it was the bees knees.

It was so good the first time I had to go back.
Facilities are excellent and the villa even when occupied by my familly of 23 was large enough for us all to enjoy without tripping over each other.
Good entertainment with multi media and disco room. Table tennis and pool plus neumourous other indoor games.
Good garden and childrens area and of course superb swimming pool ideal for all abilities.
Its a villa to spend time in and enjoy, unless of course you are a golf addict, when you are in the heart of a golf world.
There is a leisure club within walking distance offering tennis, football, snooker, squash etc, and nice bar and food.
You need transport, to get food and visit the local fish, and vegetable markets. Here there is a good beach for the sun worshippers.
The villa was exactly as represented on the web site, and the cleaners maintained a high standard.
We were greated on arival by the owner who was very responsive to any requests, and made time to ensure we were fully informed about the villa and local amenities.
I would recomend this villa and location to my friends.

We stayed at the Do Golfe for one week. I dont really know how i stumbled upon them, but they are fabulous. They are small, but extreamly clean and tidy. The maids visited everday (even Sunday) The poolbar food is lovely and reasonably priced. The pools are very clean and well mamaged. We did have a small amount of noise when in bed from kids clip clopping up stairs, but it can be expected i supose. It would take about an hour to walk down to the Marina, the road & paths are all now finished so a walk is ok now. We have flights boked for 2009 and we will definately be booking Do Golfe.

Apartments were just out of Vilamoura...

Apartments were just out of Vilamoura and roughly 5 euros for a taxi to the Marina. Apartments were bright and fresh and situated in the centre of all the major golf courses. They rooms extremely clean and maid serviced them each day. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Hotel was quiet and peaceful and you did not have to fight for a lounger! Bar snacks were ok, but would not recommend restaurant food. Restuarant food and drinks were quite expensive and not that great, although there was a happy hour for drinks, which deducted 30% from bar bill. Pools were cleaned daily and lovely to swim in. There is a local supermarket (roughtly a 10 minute walk) - this is quite expensive, but saves you having to get a taxi into Vilamoura itself (if you do decide to go into Vilamoura for groceries - go the the Jaffers supermarket - its the cheapest around). When ordering taxi's please bear in mind to book 20 mins in advance (particularly on Saturday's and Sunday's). All in all, we would go back to the Do Golf Aparments.

As first time visitors to Portugal we booked our week long holiday through our travel agent and travelled with Thomsons. We booked a 1 bedroom apartment and that was more than adequate for us 2. There were 2 single beds in the bedroom and a pull out bed in the lounge. The kitchen was equipped with microwave, hob, kettle and all the necessary crockery and cutlery. All areas of the apartment were immaculate. Cleaning was carried out every day as was towel change.
Breakfast can be purchased for 6 Euros for those who have not included it and is a buffet style. Meals can be purchased throughout the day at the bar up to 11pm and the dining room always has spaces for those who wish to dine in.
The pool area, which was only a dozen or so steps from our apartment was also very clean and very quiet as a lot of groups who visit are golfers who are away during the day. It was lovely to swim in a pool which I had all to myself.
The only downside was the courtesy bus which only runs down to the marina and beach a couple of times a day, once in the morning and once at about 5pm so we needed to use taxis most of the time. This said it has not deterred us from going back again and have already booked for June 2008 and are in the process of booking for September.

We have just returned from a wonderful family holiday at this resort. We have been to Portugal a few times now, staying at different resorts but by far this was the best, very clean, friendly and food was great. Lots to do, free shuttle bus down to marina at selected times, if times don't suit its not far to walk if you feel like it.
Our room was spotless, clean towels every day we were there, ladies friendly and all staff were great. Highly recommended.
