stayed here in August 2011. Was so disappointed overpriced for what you get. We were in a villa ....if thats what you could call it..horrible dirty musty smell, house keeping left very little to be desired...they are not self catering by any means..there is no laundry... more

We stayed at the vilanova for a week in july. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there. We have a three year old girl, and the complex is ideal. There is entertainment all day and all evening, as well as kids club if you wish. The pool is very big, and the surrounding area is quite nice. Very clean. We stayed in a studio, which was very clean, it was spacious with a good kitchenette. The balconies were also very safe if you have young children. The reps and entertainers were fantastic. My boyfriend and I just got back from the Vilanova last night, and I have to say i'm amazed at some of the reviews i've just read about them! We booked as a late deal and had no idea where we were going but we were very pleased with what we got. The apartment was very spacious and clean and had everything you needed for your stay, including good cooking facilities and even a tv with the bbc! The Vilanova Apartments are located at the top of "The Strip", but are not the easiset to find if travelling independently as there is no sign outside the buildings! Look for "Casablanca Dancing Bar" and you've found the car park next left. There is plenty of car parking and you can park near your room once you have checked in so no dragging luggage for miles. The villa was far too basic with not even a bar of soap in the bathroom. We booked self catering but I would not have used the equipment in the kitchen. There was food stuck to the place mats and the grooves in the dining table were full of crumbs and bits of food. The microwave and fridge were rusted and dirty. I have 3 kids and have stayed at the vila nova 4 times in the past 3 years. I have never once had a bad experince. The thompson reps were all great and where always on hand. All my children had a wonderful time as did my self and husband and have already booked to go back in 2006. We have just got back from the Vilanova apartments yesterday. These are fantastic apartments, right in the strip in Sao Joao (new town of albufeira). We have a 3 years old with us, who went in the kids clubs and creche, both of which are fantastic, the kids clubs are free (however you have to be on the ball in reception at the time the sheet goes up to book your children in, they tend to queue up for this - happens at 10am and 6pm!!!), the creche was 15 euros for 2 hours, but well worth it. We have just returned from a 2 week stay at this self catering accomodation. The rooms were cleaned every day, towels and bedlinen twice a week. Other beach towels available from reception, small fee payable but changed for more as and when required. All staff were very friendly, and kids zone excellent.Our granchildren aged 2years 11 months and 4 years old really enjoyed themselves and would reccommend this accomodation to everybody. Vilanova Villas and Apartments in Albufeira is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. We stayed there in July 2004. The first night we were put in a room overlooking the resort which was incredibly noisy because of music from the clubs outside. One of our beds was also very soft and lumpy. We could not get to sleep until 5am when the clubs shut down. The next day we were moved to another room, but that night people kept running around the corridor of our block throughout the night.
