Wish we were still there
from daisymoochi
We arrived at Vila Gale Nautico at 9pm on 23rd August, just getting dark but a lovely warm evening, followed instructions from Expedia, all went well until we got to Armacao De Pera where we could not locate the hotel, it turned out that we had driven past it and not realised because it is not really signposted and the hotel sign is not actually on top of the hotel, it is in fact in the middle overlooking restaurant and pool area. Check in was quick and easy and a porter took our cases on a trolley for us as in his words it was confusing to find our room, initially perhaps but was ok after the first time. Requested a pool view and was not disappointed, had a view of pool and sea, plus the roadworks which were almost non existent, the workers arrived one morning looked at the work and never returned, but this is quite usual inPortugal. The walls inthe rooms are pretty thin so you can hear the people next door but it is not a real problem, there are two resident seagulls who perch on top of the roof but never woke us in the morning, we also had a family of sparrows waiting for crumbs every day. Room was comfy, air conditioning was a must as it was 37/38 every day. We prebooked a fridge and was very pleased that we had. I just e.mailed the hotel to ask for one and they replied a couple of days later confirming the request, we paid for that and the safe on departure, I took a travel kettle for a cup if tea though as they do not supply tea making facilities. Shower/bath water was hot and plentiful. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of food, fruit was fresh every day apart from one day when they had tinned pineapple instead of fresh but I looked forward to the fruit while my husband and son had bacon eggs, toast etc. The only down side was the queue for the toaster, just one, and very slow. Only had one evening meal which was at the Thursday BBQ, very nice it was too. Music each evening, including a karaoke night and folk dancing on Tuesday, I would say if you want an early night then ask for a room away from the dining area as this is where the music takes place. We were fortunate to be at the other end to the music. Staff friendly, games room hot as the air con did not work. Pools lovely, kept spotlessly clean, we enjoyed the indoor pool when most people were at evening meal. We hired a car at the airport and was able to park in a carpark opposite front of hotel. Cleaning staff also very friendly, most days our lady arrived in the afternoon but then she did have an awful lot of rooms to clean. The aerial view picture of the hotel that I had seen shows greenery all around, this is not the case, there are buildings around but it did not disturb us. It is a residencial area and also the time we were there was during the Portuguese holidays so it was mainly Portuguese people that we holidayed with, this was a bonus as they were all very courteous and pretty quiet. Beasch was great, clean and tidy. Hired sunbeds and canopies, it was essential. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Buses ran frequently but we had a car which I think is the best option. It is not a place to go clubbing or heavy drinking, instead its a good place to relax and chill out. We would go back again, in fact we didnt want to leave.
overall excellent but just a few points to improve
from Dreamez
we stayed at this hotel from 21st to 28th July. GOOD POINTS Staff were very friendly and always tried to help. Food was about average. Resort was very quiet but close to other more livelier towns. Resort suited to families. Beach was lovely very clean I would recommend "O pelintra" restaurant to eat for meals that are lovely 5 euros for two people to eat. Try the chicken with mushrooms. yum yum. Located near the supermarket. It was nice to have an indoor pool and spa. BAD POINTS I would say this hotel was a 3+ rather than a 4*. One thing that annoyed me was not having a fridge or minibar in room or water at the tables at breakfast. The glasses were so small it meant that you had to queue for water every 5mins. Also, although the rooms were cleaned were only cleaned at 4pm and not thourough, eg the cleaners sometimes forgot to clean the balcony area. This is the main reason why I have rated it 4/5 and not 5/5. Also a few more activities could have been fun, we played volley ball and thats it. The building works are really not a problem. Buy a tourist pass for 20 euros to explore the algarve there is a lot to see. Our experience was a pleasant holiday. Would recommend this holiday. Clubbers visit albrufreira.
Absolutely faultless stay

Spent two weeks at the hotel, couldn't fault the hotel, facilities, cleanliness, service or the food. I would certainly strongly recommend this hotel. Perhaps better signage would make it easier to find, although the directions given were spot on.
4 Night Stay
from Theyids61
Before booking we were unable to choose between this hotel, and the Garbe which is 500m along the coast. Funnily enough due to an Expedia booking error, we actually had to stay in the Garbe for the first 2 nights as Expedia had only booked our last 2 nights at the Gale Nautico. The pool area at the Gale Nautico is fantastic, spotless and always being cleaned. Also has other great facilities such as Table Tennis, a Pool table, Gym, Spa, Indoor Pool and Kids entertainment. The reception area is also spotless with great service. However, the rooms were quite noisy and not as well equipped as the Garbe which also had, in our opinion, a better restaurant. The Garbe was right on the beach where-as you have to cross a main road to reach it from the Gale Nautico. To summarise, both hotels were excellent especially for the money and even now we couldn't choose between them! Try the lovely home made food at the Waterdog pub. Also, the Clipper restaurant is also excellent.
"A holiday to remember with wonderful food"
from AMCKNorthernIreland
An excellent hotel, with great service, wonderful hard working staff especially the restaurant staff, great for children. My son lived at the pool, which is beautifully laid out, and it has a very nice warm indoor pool. The staff was always willing to fulfil our needs and help us in any way. There is so much more I could say but I just want to thank Vile Gale Nautico for a truly memorable wonderful stay.
Can get too noisy at late nites and early mornings

I stayed at the hotel vila gale nautico.in armacao dse pera. algarve. for a week from 26the june,2005. The hotel location, and room service were good.Though I must say I was rather disappointed by the lack of proper insulation in between room,as on most mornings I was woken up my people next doors T.V. especially have had a late night out the night before,on most nights I could hardly get any sleep. Also the bleeding seagulls were such a racket,at 5 in the morning ,hoping to get some food from the pool area breakfast tables, which was another annoying thing. But hotel itself was not too bad. Mind you they did play lound live music every nigth till 1 AM, which was annoying at times too.
first impressions
from alanelaine
The hotel was very clean and the rooms were ample sized. We had a double room with pool and sea view and paid only £40 per night for 9 nights. The breakfast was excellent, really good choice and the fresh fruit was superb. Bit crowded round 9am, but when we went earlier it was much less crowded. Gym wasn't up to much and the indoor pool smelt, but the outside pool was kept clean and was well used by everyone. Pool snack bar offered wide range of food at reasonable prices, comparible to in the town. There was a lot of road works going on just outside the hotel and lots of other building work nearby. The resort itself was not our cup of tea. High rise scruffy apartments and the pavements covered in dog dirt. Beach side was fine though, and there are some good restaraunts. Clippers is well worth a visit or two. The old town is quaint with windy streets and good choice of shops and bars etc. Buses run to main resorts regularly, beware if you go Albefeira on bus, the walk from the terminus is quite long and in the heat is tiresome. Would we go again? To the hotel yes, if they picked it up and moved it somewhere else! To Armacoa de Pera? No.
really enjoyable stay

Clean, good location, friendly staff, nice pool, everything needed for a weeks stay in the Algarve. Highly recomend it to other travellers.
Very Good
from Dreinog
Very good hotel with excellent service from all levels of staff. We booked through Expedia and the price we paid for two pool-view rooms was great considering the discussions I had with a number of other guests. The resturants in the old town are probably the better, but maybe we were lucky. Take a kettle if you like a cup of tea in the morning as they are not provided in the rooms. Also a lot of shops and resturants don't except credit cards which can be a pain, but cash machines are available. Would return again .......
Excellent hotel, clean, great location, loads of amenities

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a holiday in the Algarve at this hotel and it was wonderful. It was right near the beautiful beach, has a lovely big pool and loads of sun loungers and space around the pool. I recommend a room with a pool view as we could see the pool and also hear the entertainment at night from our balcony. The entertainment was classic hotel cabaret style but great fun! Our room was a great size and cleaned daily and spotless. We went bed and breakfast and the breakfasts were great, so much choice and as much as you liked! There is quite a lot of building work going on in the town itself, but we heard none at all from the hotel. I cannot fault this hotel and would definitely go back and stay there again.

Just came back from a week here and was very disappointed. The Hotel was fine, good facilities and very professional and helpful staff. The breakfast buffet had good variety and the pool area and rooms were clean. However the resort of Armacao De Pere left alot to be... more
