Vila Gale Nautico Hotel Reviews
" I have just come back from my weeks... "

I have just come back from my weeks holiday in Portugal in Armacao de Pera, at the Vila Gale Nautico hotel.
The hotel was excellent, food was very good, the people were very friendly they could not do enough for you; it was glorious weather there to. The hotel had a large swimming pool with plenty of sun loungers around the pool. They had some entertainment of an evening.
The restaurants are nearby only about 10 to 15 mins walk away. There are plenty to choose from and they are good value for your money.
All in all the whole holiday was relaxing and peaceful, so if you want partying all night do not chose this hotel, it is for couples and people who wish for a quieter holiday.

" We spent a week at the Vila Gale... "

We spent a week at the Vila Gale Nautical in Armacao de Pera. Depending on what room you get there can be some stunning views as the hotel is set in landscaped gardens.
The rooms are great very spacious and they have air con which is a must as the weather is hot in summer. The maids also keep the rooms spotless. I was disappointed to find that there was no mini fridge to keep things cool and I have to admit that this is the first place I have been to where there isn’t one.
The beach is quite a hike from the hotel, you have to cross a busy carriageway which is not good with children, and however once there it is lovely as there are lots of sand dunes which I had not expected.
We only had bed and breakfast booked and I am so glad as many people complained at the food at night although the breakfast was actually quite good. I think it was around about an extra £100 to upgrade to half board and most of the food was barely warm.
We found some great restaurants nearby, the best being The Water Dog which serves great English food at a reasonable price. There is also a beach hut where you can eat fresh fish but can’t think of its name but you can’t miss it.
I suppose I would go back to the resort but not the hotel as I had a few clashes with staff, which I found to be pretty rude in their attitude towards people.

Worth hiring a car to visit surrounding areas such as Felicia beach.
The hotel was excellent. Clean, spacious throughout with friendly staff at all levels. Although staying on a b&b basis we found the restaurant to be excellent.

The buffet choice was wide, cooked breakfast through to cereal or a choice of croissants or rolls. There was even sparkling wine to enjoy a bucks fizz if you fancied it for breakfast! We stayed in a junior suite, we had two adjoining rooms and a huge balcony which gave us views of 3 sides of the hotel, the gardens, the sea and the pool - could not fault it! There was no problem obtaining loungers, the pools were clean, the indoor pool and Jacuzzi were quiet and peaceful.

There was enough for the kids to do, with a playroom and their own pool. Drinks and snacks were available poolside although a little pricey. A short walk around the corner and you were on the promenade where there were cheaper alternatives. We sampled many of the restaurants. The Chinese were superb, the one Indian was of a high standard.

Each cafe we tried was also good, in fact, no complaints. The resort is being developed but this does not effect the holiday. As you walk towards the old town you can see the changes, but the old town is pedestrianised and very quaint. There was enough for us to do in the resort to not worry about travelling around.

This is unusual for us but is an indication of how comfortable we were! It is not a lively place by Albufeiras standards but there is enough to do and we came home recharged and refreshed. We would love to go back, and this is something else we have never wished to do before! A great little place.
The reason for it being quiet was probabley because it was out of season but even so it doesn't excuse the graffiti and faded look of the town.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone its just too depressing. we will never book through Thomas Cook again and I doubt, visit Portugal.
