" Stayed there june 2009 "

Our party of 4 females arrived about 12.30 am. The guy on reception wasn't very talkative but was pleasant enough. We went to our rooms on the 3rd floor but couldn't work out how to get the lights on. 2 of us went back down to reception and the receptionist came up to the rooms and showed us that we needed to slot the card which is attached to the key into a slot on the wall. This is a great idea as it means when you go out and lock the door the electric isn't left on.The pool area was very clean and tidy. It is quite small and could probably do with more sun beds especially in the height of the season. We managed to get beds every day except one.We used the bar a couple of times during the day to buy soft drinks and found the staff nice enough. There was entertainment on outside on a night but we never stayed to watch so can't comment on that. The restaurant is fairly small and we had to wait a couple of times for a table but only for a few minutes. The head waiter was very nice and reminded us of Mel from the series Benidorm (but only in looks). The food was passable, none of us starved. Chips on every night bar one. The waiters/waitresses never stopped clearing and laying tables.'Mel' also got stuck in and could often be seen taking empty plates away and relaying the tables. Location is great for the town, close enough to walk but not too close for the noise to disturb you. Hill isn't too bad if you're reasonably fit. We would all stay here again, the only thing we missed was having a fridge to keep our water in. I'm sure they could find room to put a small ice box or something in the corner of the rooms then this review would have been 9 out of 10.There is something for everyone in Benidorm from cheap and cheerful 1 euro a pint bars to family run karaoke bars to the more expensive show bars. We would have a few cheap drinks early on in the night before going to see the shows. We saw Girls Aloud, The Temptations, West Life and Take That to name but few. My personal favourites were Girls Aloud, they started off a bit ropey but by the end of the 1st song they were getting into their stride, and Pete Loaf. Ones to avoid are Rod Stewart and Boney M. The 2 girls are passable singers but the guy.........well what can I say but terrible! You do get stopped quite a lot in the streets by people offering free shots to try and get you into their bars but just say no thanks and keep walking. They're only doing their job after all. Highly recommended after a night out is the British Chippy in The Square. Run by British guys selling British products we went there every night. Not good for your waistline but hey you're on holiday. You can start your diet next week. This was my 3rd visit to Benidorm and I am saving hard for the 4th. Would recommend it to anyone young or old.

Advice: Something for everyone on Benidorm from family friendly karaoke bars to some great show bars

Activities: Fave bars are Why Not 2 for friendliness & karaoke and Cheap and Cheerful for cheap food and drink

Good for: Beach

" The Mont Park Hotel.. "

I have just returned back from a short holiday staying at The Mont Park Hotel, we were a party of 4 adults aged between 46/65 and the hotel had been booked for us so we went with an open mind. We arrived at approx 7.30pm and made our way up 'cardiac hill', I have to say the hill wasn't as bad as some I have seen and as I suffer from arthritis I was expecting it to be worse but the hotel is really not situated that far up. The entrance to the hotel was very clean and presentable and our 1st impressions of the look of the hotel from outside was good. Once inside, again it was clean and pleasant and nicely decorated, the male receptionist on duty was not very talkative but gave us our key and told us we were on the third floor. There are 2 lifts but they are very small, one takes 5 people the other takes 4 and if the weight is over, then it does not operate! Our rooms were extremely clean, there was a tv which only had one british channel but we didn't bother about watching tv, the beds were very comfortable although I did have to ask for extra pillows (which we got) there was a shower over the bath and I have to say the shower was brilliant, very powerful and very hot (unlike some I have used which were quite cool and water trickles out) maids were in every day and fresh towels daily. The restaurant situated in the basement I thought was extremely pleasant, nicely decorated and we liked the style of it although we DID have to wait on a table for 4 quite a few times, the food was excellant both for breakfast and dinner, lots of choice and I can recommend the paella for dinner and the rice pudding for dessert was delicous, best food I have tasted in a long time in a foreign hotel, but we found the price of a bottle of water to drink with our meal was very expensive and if you don't want a drink at the table, they remove the glasses that are there!! There was a lot of Spanish people eating in and we did find them quite ignorant and some quite arrogant, and I would also say that I didn't find the staff very friendly although the manager of the restaurant worked like a 'trojan' organising tables, clearing away plates etc but the rest of the staff hardly cracked a smile! There was NO entertainment in the hotel whilst we were there? and we had one drink from the bar which we found extremely expensive! We didnt use the pool but it was very clean and the pool side was also clean, quite a few tables and chairs and sun loungers. You are only minutes away from Lavnte beach which was very clean and busy, lots of bars, shops, pubs and restaurants situated all along the beach and the little side streets. The weather was fantastic, it was between 20/21c all the time we were there altough it was quite cold at night and early morning. Overall a great hotel for the price and rating..definately worth a visit!

" Mont park Benidorm "

I have stayed in this hotel 3 times now and i can honestly say it isnt as bad as some people on here make out.True the staff are a bit moody sometimes but most are ok, the food is quite nice, i enjoyed trying out their spanish dishes and there was plenty of choice.Ideally situated near all the shops and so near the beach you can get there in 3 minutes flat,I will be booking to go again in sep this year and im really looking forward to it.

Advice: Its great lots to do you will never be bored

Activities: too many to mention

" Stayed 19 - 30 /12/08 "

We were a group of 10. Age ranges 11 yrs to 83 yrs.
No organized activities.
ROOMS - Twin, although will accommodate extra single bed up to balcony window. Bathroom en suite, with over bath hand held/wall mounted shower. Heating on through most of night, upon waking up and during most of day. Daily cleaning and towel change, rooms spotless.
Restaurant (non smoking) - Stairs down to restaurant. However, ground floor access can be made through the patio doors directly into the restaurant. Lifts are not suitable for mobility scooters. Folk left them parked outside entrance.
Good choice of hot and cold buffet for breakfast (8.30am - 10am)
Lunch (12.30pm - 2pm) and Dinner (7.30pm - 9.30pm)
can become a bit repetitive, so this hotel may best be served to go half board or B&B.
Lunchtime is not much of a crowd. However, evening meal folk start to queue at 7.20pm By 7.45pm the restaurant can be crowded, so we found there was a lull and could get to a table for our party at 8.30pm. The restaurant manager likes to allocate the appropriate number of people to the right table settings. There are a small number of round tables that seat 5 to 6 people. The others are a maximum of four. Many are set for 2 people, but extra settings will be placed if required.
There is a bar area, overlooking the outdoor pool. This has a television, and I believe permits smoking.
There is a seperate(non smoking) lounge area with many large comfy sofas and chairs, and a pool table. Here people can sit and relax and talk. Next door is another similar room, with chairs and tables, and here is where occasional live music is held.
The hotel offers a laundry service. There are hairdryers in the bathroom. No kettles. The cleaning staff, and some restaurant staff are friendly and speak very little english. But communication can be somehow made. Reception is a little hit and miss, but whoever gets into a chit chat with them anyway.
The bar closes between 11.30pm and midnight. You can take a nightcap up to your room from the bar. There are two lifts to 7 floors.
This hotel serves many nationalities. While I was there with my large party, English, Spanish, German, Dutch people were staying.
Location, it is half way up 'Cardiac Hill', although as a sufferer of arthritis I found it not a problem, you get use to it. Closeby there are the usual fast food chains (Burger King / McD /Subway) but their prices are slightly higher than here in the UK. Closeby is a Chinese restaurant open 12 noon to midnight, overlooking the beach. It offered a great buffet deal of 8.75 adult or half price for kids.
This is a good hotel if looking for a clean comfortable budget base to stay, and I would recommend it for this purpose.
However, as it was the festive season we was just looking for a little bit more of an atmosphere, which we always found at our regular hotel elsewhere in the area.
Sadly, my disappointment did not reflect in anyway towards the hotel, it was to the british idiots staying somewhere nearby, as usual shouting and swearing on their way home from the clubs in the early hours. I just wish these numpties would have a bit more decorum, and good manners when abroad, rather than reflecting the brits in a bad light.

Advice: Clean sandy beach. Rowdy drunks late at night. Smokey pubs.

Activities: Chinese restaurant nearby to hotel on beach front / Amstrelli Bar (beach front).

" This is the first review i have ever... "

This is the first review i have ever felt the need to write.
I have travelled abroad for 30 years and the mont park is the worst hotel by far that i have ever stayed in. I had read the reviews on different sites and therefore went with an open mind but every bad review written was true of this hotel.
Unpleasent and rude reception staff. Very smokey bar/lounge area with closed doors and windows. 2 small lifts which are always full. Air conditioning thats never on. Old and dated rooms. Pool very grubby and old looking. Restaurant what can i say in the basement no air con switched on and doors and windows closed. After queing for a table and then whatever you want to eat you are to hot and stressed out to eat it. After 3 visits to the (dungeon) restaurant we ate out for the rest of the holiday. We expected lots of spanish guests as it seemed to be a hotel mainly for the spanish what we didnt expect was the rudeness and unfriendliness of these people. They were not even polite enough to return a smile. I have never been so glad to pack my case and return home.
If you are taking a baby DONT GO and if you do go dont expect a cot or a high chair or air conditioning as this hotel is totally child unfriendly.

" After reading lots of reviews about... "

After reading lots of reviews about this Hotel I was a bit worried as I was taking my 83 year old mother there but I needn't have been worried. She absolutely loved it. Yes, the hotel interior is a bit like stepping back in time but I think being a small family run hotel they are doing their best and slowly modernising it but it was very clean. The road leading up to the hotel was steep but only for a very short bit - maybe we all need a bit more exercise! We hired an electric scooter from the many places on offer for my mum at a very reasonable price - £40.00 for 8 days. There were many Spanish in the hotel but after all we were in Spain. The good thing about that is we got to try out our Spanish for a change. I found the staff on the whole very helpful and friendly. The bar is a smoking area but we never found it smoky as all the doors were opened or the air conditioning was on. The outside terrace was clean and pool was a bit old but clean and warm. The entertainment was every other night - ballroom type music but that was fine. If it had been anything else I think it would have spoilt the quietness of the Hotel. If we wanted something else we just went down to Romans on the beach front or there were many other bars close by with music for young and old. The Hotel is 2 minutes from Levante beach so for us it was ideal. The restaurant is small but I am pleased to say retains a bit of a Spanish feel. We only had to queue a couple of times and for only a couple of minutes. The food I can confidently say for a hotel in the price range was excellent. I think it was the first time of many stays in Spanish hotels that that I have found the food very flavoursome which is unusual for this grade of hotel in Spain. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again but as someone pointed out I did notice that young children were not catered for very well. Having said that there were many babies and youngsters there who seemed to be enjoying themselves.

" visited mont park with my partner and... "

visited mont park with my partner and my 9 month old son and my parents hotel was very clean but wasent catered for children at all, the cot was bodged together with board that looked like the front of wardrobes, the cafe didnt have no high chairs and was down stairs so his pushchair had to be carried up and down, also air con only came on at certain times was turned of between 5 and 7.30 which was always boling gettin ready espesially with a 9 month old baby then half way through the holiday the air con went off all together and was told gets cut off and a certain date so hotel was very warm, hotel entertainment was rubbish, only good thing about the hotel was the location even though was up a steep hill and hotel was also very clean, alot off spanish which is mainly catered for in the restaurant and ignorant people in hotel also hotel staff not very friendly.

" we stayed here for 10 days full... "

we stayed here for 10 days full board, we are in our mid 30's we had a fab time, we had a room on the 5th floor and overall the hotel is very good, the food was also very good different food every day, waiters worked very hard keeping the restaurant clean and tidy, now for the minor issues ok the rooms are a bit dated and 1 english tv channel, but who spends a long time in the rooms anyway, the maids kept the hotel spotless and the rooms were cleaned everyday and new towels everyday also, the restaurant could have been a bit bigger as you had to wait sometimes for a table but never more than 5 min its just us impatient brits..now for cardiac hill which it is described as leading upto the hotel, if you are old and immobile then perhaps you would moan a bit but it takes 3-4min from the sea front and it IS NOT ON A VERY STEEP HILL. All in all we had a fab time at the mont park hotel, and would recommend this hotel to anyone and we would also stay here again...
One review states lots of spanish people stay here, well that speaks for its self for me because if it was poor they would not stay here in their own country..

" Well what can i... "

Well what can i say........................ i truely recomend that you stay away from this hotel. The first impressions of this hotel was not good. We had to walk up a steep hill and upon entering the hotel it was very smokey and we was greeted by an arrogant receptionist who was not very helpful. Along our corrider, paint was hanging off the walls, doors were hanging off. I have to say that our room was ok, it was cleaned every day and the maids were quite nice. Although we did find a cockroach in the corrider! The pool was not nice at all, there was hardly any sun loungers and it was quite dirty. Our overall view is to stay away!!!!!

" Upon arrival to the hotel i was not... "

Upon arrival to the hotel i was not impressed, the outside looked ok but as i entred the reception i felt like id stepped back in time, its a very big empty spaced that is very dated, although i have to say it was absolutely spotless.
The night time reception staff was not very helpful or happy, he did not make me feel very welcome.
The bar area was very very smokey, you could hardly see from one end to the other.

The restaurant was a bit on the small side and i found my self being pushed out the way so people could get tables - soo rude, but the staff would always find you somewhere to sit and would, if possible, sit english people with other english people - they must if found this hard as there were hardly any english people here, i was the only one for the first two days of my holiday. Onto the food.
It was excellent, i am the worlds fussiest eater and i found i had plenty of choice evey night. the variety at breakfast was also really good. The only complaint i have about the resaurant is that for the last three nights the waitress decided to keep my change.?? but it was only 50cents at a time so its not like she was taking all my money!
The head waiter is a lovely man and always smiling.

The room was a good size, but, like the reception area, it was very dated, it looked as though it had not been decorated for a good 20 years and the furniture seemed very flimsey. The only heating in the room was in the bathroom, so at night the room ended up being very cold and the bathroom was like a sauna. The balcony was nice and sunny though which was a added bonus.
The maids were lovely and did an excellent job.

Beware the hill!!!!
it isnt nicknamed cardiac hill for a laugh, i was glad the hotel was only halfway up! i have to say though i found it very amusing watching people stuggling to the hotel right at the top, they all looked so knackered at the end.

All in all this was good value accommodation and for the price i paid i wasnt exactly expecting a palace. With a little updating and a bit of staff training this hotel would be fab!!!

" This hotel is situated close to... "

This hotel is situated close to Levante beach and up a slight incline. The reception area is not that welcoming.

The lounge next to the reception desk and at certain times, the lobby of the hotel, was extremely smoky.

However, the food at dinner and breakfast was excellent - both the quality and the variety and the staff were very helpful and polite, but the dining room was way too small for the amount of guests staying there and people were consistently waiting for vacant tables.

The beds were incredibly hard and the pillows lumpy.

" I booked this hotel independently and... "

I booked this hotel independently and although the hotel wasn’t too bad for what I had paid, I found it a bit of struggle to walk up the hill, and the food tended to be much the same.

The lunchtime menu was very similar to night time. I also found there wasn’t a lot of English people staying there.

I weren’t sure of their nationality but staying there on my own I just nodded to most of them and smiled.

It was clean though, and I probably would stay there again at a last resort. But beware of the hill.

" Very disappointed in hotel as only... "

Very disappointed in hotel as only cater for elderly couples not a family oriented hotel, my 14 year old was bored senseless. Restaurant catered for all types of cultures but the dining room not big enough to cater for the amount of guests, which meant queuing at meal times for a table. Not very relaxing!!

No high chairs provided for younger guests which meant push chairs were brought in, even less room. Drinks were not provided at dinner and payment of bottled water was required, bread was mouldy at breakfast and stale baguettes from breakfast were kept for dinner. The staff did not speak much English and it was very hard to converse. The pool was too cold to swim in and most guests avoided it, there was no entertainment at night for families, I once saw the lounge area with elderly people ballroom dancing.

After returning to the hotel of an evening we found ourselves sitting on the veranda playing cards, but that did not last long as lights went out just after 12?? Hotel is kept very clean by chambermaids who did a great job.
