Hotel was clean and food was average. Waiting and bar staff pleasant but let down by the rude and unhelpful reception staff who couldn't even lift their head when asked a question! The limited entertainment was geared towards the Spanish tourists and the show presented by the "entertainment staff" on the Friday evening was suggestive and offensive to any disabled person. I really can't understand how anyone can find a man with no arms trying to go to the toilet amusing!!

We have been putting off going to Benidorm for some time due to its tacky reputation, but we decided to have a short break there in November. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, and how nice the Poseidon Playa hotel was too. The hotel is situated on the Poniente Beach, which is the larger of the two beaches and also in the more quiet area. It is right on the beach and all rooms have a sea view (so Globetravel, who we booked it through, tried to rip us off by saying we could have a sea view for £8 extra each-so do not be caught by this line).
It is about a 15 minute walk into the old town area where there are very many shops, bars and restaurants to choose from if you so desire.
The hotel is fairly old but in good decorative order and spotlessly clean throughout.
The staff are friendly and most spoke good english. The AI drink selection is very good, with lots to choose from and a few cocktails. The food was excellent, with a good choice each day (including champagne at breakfast). Of particular merit was the home made soups, which were outstanding. The only poor offering was lamb chops one evening which brough a new meaning to the word tough! However they more than made up for them the following evening by having the nicest pork ribs we have had outside of the USA. We have been in some 4 star hotels where the food and drinks selection was inferior to the Poseidon.
The entertainment was not to our taste, being geared for the mostly senior Spanish clients. We also feel that the pool would be too small in the summer for the potential number of guests, however as this was November it was too cold to swim anyway, which is what we expected.
We are not sure what the Hotel or Benidorm would be like in the high summer, but for an out of season break both were very good.

Went to this hotel for 4days on a a hen party, it was a bit far out from the main town and we had to get taxis every night, as the entertainment in the hotel was the worst i have ever had. Perfect if you are 60+ as it was old time dancing. It was as if we had all gone back in time, the rooms were nice and clean, and staff were helpful, except for the AI bar man who obviously didnt like the british, he was that rude it was in untrue. The food was ok, nothing special really, we used this hotel as a base really as it was so far out, ok for couples wanting a quiet holiday who want to sit and listen to spanish music, and watch people waltzing etc. We met 4 little scottish girls who had nothing really to do, we made there holiday as they were quite bored. I certainly would not go here with my 4 children, it would be the holiday from hell for them.

Had a brilliant 9 days, good food, though they liked the veal but a good choice. Christmas dinner was nice if you don't mind fancy food it was displayed lovely but I just stuck to things I recognised.
The miner fault with this hotel is where its situated to far from nightlife and the entertainment was crap more for over 60s which there was a lot of them for 4 days I was the youngest and I'm 48 but yes I would def go again and recommend it to the more mature.

The hotel was really clean and well kept. Our beds were always made and the hotel staff were really friendly. The hotel is full of Spanish people, not many English at all.
Around the pool no one spoke a word of English. Me and my friend were the only English there. In saying that, after a night out on the strip, the pool wasn't the place we went to the most.
The food in the hotel wasn't nice. Same stuff every night. Dry bread, cheese, chips, chicken etc...
None of the food was in English either so I had to ask the chef, who also didn't speak a word of English, I just ended up eating soup and pasta all week.
Apart from that, the hotel had everything you needed; cash machine, telephone, internet access, sea view in every room and very spacious. It's perfect for a family holiday. But not for young people who want to go out all the time. We would know! Some of the looks the night staff gave us when we we're trotting into the hotel at 8 in the morning!!

Hotel spotless, staff friendly, food was always varied and fresh. Lovely 15 minute walk into old town. Every room has a sea view and the beach is just across the road from the hotel.
The only down side to the hotel is the entertainment ,it consists of a dreary Spanish pianist that only entertained the older guests, but who stays in their hotel with the amount of entertainment that Benidorm has to offer?
Would recommend this hotel if you like a walk, no frills and are fussy about cleanliness.

My wife and I have stayed in many hotels in Benidorm and I would rate this one amongst the better ones. We live in Spain and very often go away for a few days break and often to Benidorm. The web site said tea and Coffee making facilities in the room but this was not the case. The food was reasonable to good and bar prices were average. The rooms were spotlessly clean with maid service every day. All the rooms at this hotel have sea veiws and is actually only a few metres from the beach.
All in all a very decent hotel.
