Just arrived back from this hotel. I will never book this again. It is sooooooo expensive to eat or drink here. Infact even the shops are OTT. We were 93 euros for 2 adults 4 kids for a poor dinner with little selection. The cheapest place to eat is a pizza place and its over 10 euro for a plain pizza and i thought it tasted rubbish. 16 euros for a couple of soft drinks, 3 euros for a fizzy can. 2.50 euro for chocolate milk. Breakfast was poor, staff attitude was poor. The rooms were ok and certainly large enough for our party. The have a ball pit but most people leave their kids unsupervised and you end up being the babysitter. Pirate ship in the middle for the kids is ok, again it should not be climbed but the kids are doing so, it could actually be dangerous if someone was to fall off. I will never return to this place ever....

myself, my husband and 3 kids stayed at this hotel which had been recomended for families. What a disappointment! Firstly, our room overlooked ythe bar- making it hard to settle the kids after their grueling day trying to avoid colliding with @4 billion other visiters, then our room was grubby, and had no toilettries.
breakfast was like a cattle market-lots of jossling, grabbing and puffing for the croissants and cornflakes!
In the evening, after a day at the park, there was no chance of a quit night cap as even at 11:30 pm there was kids running around - both in the bar and in the seating area!
All in all, if you want to stay somewhere that reminded you of an inner city council estate - lager, kids swearing, adults swearing - then this is the place for you!
Oh yes , if you do choose to stay at this hotel, then don't do the meet-and-greet the disney characters,as we did - you will be seated in a completely seperate area from the other guests who sty at the real disney hotels, on hard, cheap garden furniture at hard clunky garden tables (and even that was on cheap lino flooring) whist the other guests sat at plush tables on red plush chairs!
Even the flooring was red plush carpet!!!
So watch out!!
Stay at this hotel at your peril!!

I personally wouldn't stay here again. I've previously stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, Tthe Santa Fe and the Dream Castle. I found this hotel to be rather sub standard accommodation wise. Lets face it you need a comfy bed after a full day in the parks and the double bed in our room severely dipped in the middle. The mattresses were very tthin and I generally found the whole room rather grubby and worn looking. Having said that, there was a lot more to do for kids in this hotel, but the children in my party were a bit older.....9 and 12 and so really only the swimming pool attracted them some evenings.... BUT BEWARE - NO LIFEGUARD AND THE WATER IS PRETTY COLD.....oh and the very expensive dance machine in the hotel bar. Breakfast - well we only went down there once! Found it pretty manky really and the queuing was a nightmare. We queued for a good 20 minutes before we were seated and then we were expected to know where everything was! It took ages to figure out where the drinks were! We didn't bother with breakfast after that. Was a waste of time. Even the kids agreed. There was one plus.....the takeaway Pizza which was very nice and pretty reasonably priced at around 10 euros for a pizza. The kids loved that. I wouldn't stay there again though. The rooms were just too uncomfortable. Oh...by the way, we took a laptop with us cos the kids are msn crazy and you could actually access the internet for free from the rooms so that was something to keep them occupied after a day in the park....and it was free! If you're looking for top accommodation you really can't fault the disneyland hotel which is class. Location wise its perfect too....but if you want a decent hotel and you're on a budget, don't stay here....go next door to the Dream Castle which is fab! The kids love the huge bunks and its very comfortable. Just one star rating more! I would't go in October half term again. Best to go out of school holidays to stand a good chance of getting on everything you want to do.

this is are secound time at the explorers hotel and weve had no problems every time weve been,
this time we decided to go on the eurostar from ashford which was good as it drops you off right outside the disney park so we could go straight to the parks they took are luggage to our hotel.
disney parks great alot cleaner than last time, even though it rained a couple of times the characters were still out. we booked a character breakfast at mickeys cafe for my sons birthday which was worth every penny, he got to spend quailty time with the characters which in the parks you dont due to people pushing there selfs in front of you and pushing your kids out of the way, we did a couple of the shows in the park which were great make sure you pick the english times,
explorers hotel was very clean a bit better than last time, bed rooms great cleaned every day and fresh towels. swimming pool a bit cold.soft play area good. dont put your money in the little ride machines around the hotel as they just take your money they dont work,
we ate in the hotel as we found it was the cheapest place for your main meal as you can eat as much as you like and cold drinks are free

I am only back from staying in the Explorers Hotel in Disney Paris. I can't understand how this hotel managed to get some bad reviews. People have complained that the hotel itself looked a little shabby, definitely not, maybe the rooms we stayed had been refurbished but they were absolutely spotless, sheets pure white, plenty of new towels. I can make no complaints whatsoever about this hotel. The breakfast was plenty, the kids loved the food. There was that much to eat at breakfast that a snack done until dinner time. We didn't use the swimming pool as we only stayed 2 days, the play area for kids is excellent, I have been speaking to quite a few people who have stayed in other hotels and they also agreed that the facilities in the hotel are better than most. I would thoroughly recommend the Explorers.

I went to this hotel as first time abroud i came by eurostar which was good then we arrived at the hotel as we never had our baggage because we used disney express.
i cannot fault the hotel.the prices were resonable the swimming baths was open from 7 oclock daily and for the younger ones the play area was open from 7 also. as our family was aged 6 and 11 and the others were 13 and 2 adults. none of the children wannted to leave even our 13 year old didnt want to leave the food was un faultable and the bedrooms were spaceous and unfaulty.the shuttle buses ran every 5 minuites. the staff was friendly and thats all i can say

Location:
I was abit worried about not being very close to the actual park but the shuttle busses was excellent everytime we went to the bus stop (which is right outside the doors to hotel) there was one in sight and they only took a few mins to get you to the park, i really am so happy that we never paid more to be able to go into one a bit closer.
Pool:
my daughter loved it, its open from early morning till late (11 pm ish) and as the evening gets on it gets busier so i would advise to on one or more days go in it before you go out as its alot quieter to be able to enjoy the slides.
Staff:
They are all very freindly and speak good english, they are very helpful if you need anything just ask.
Food:
We went for bed and breakfast this was the only dissapoiontment of the hotel it was cereal and breads breakfast but if you wanted a english breakfast you had to pay extra, on the first day we went straight to the park and came back to hotel for tea to save the hassel of looking for cafes etc it cost for 2 adults 1 child around 80 euros and was not nice at all and im not a fussy eater i left most and went to the shop for crisp, the next night we all went to cafe mickey and ate with all the characters for around the same price and was obviously worth the money for the experience (i would advise to book before hand the characters dine with you in the morning or the evening not during the remainder of the day so if its the characters you want to see make sure you ask when booking if they will be there at the time you want)
Rooms:
They was clean with bedding and towels done daily, non smoking but others smoked out of the window, the tv had 1 english chanel which was world news, but had pay per view which had about 3 english films on it, internet and games (which you need to ring reception to get active)
The hotel all in all was brilliant i would deffinately go there again.
ALSO IF YOU HAVE THE TIME BUFFALO BILLS WILD WEST SHOW IN THE EVENINGS IS A MUST WE REALLY ENJOYED IT AND YOU GET A VERY GOOD FEED WHILST WATCHING THE SHOW MY DAUGHTER LOVED IT. NOT JUST FOR KIDS THOUGH ADULTS WILL TO IT COST ABOUT 80 EUROS WELL SPENT THOUGH, AND YOU GET A SOUVENER COWBOY HAT! IT REALLY WAS EXCELLENT. ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY.

Three adults two children, disney was fantastic and saved our holiday. We expected the explorer hotel to be at least of good cleanliness belonging to thomas cook, but it was absolutely filthy the childrens soft play area on the floor around the play sructure was full of hair, dirt and was vert smelly so if you do go please have a look because I can guarentee it to still be there along with the rest of the dirty hotel and tables. Breakfast ok, but other food and drink absolutely exstortionate prices. swimming pool really good. All I can say is so you dont end up disappointed please go to a disney hotel and not the thomas cooks explorer.

This is the worst hotel I have ever...

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It is located near to the park but there are no restaurants in walking distance and therefore you are a captive audience for expensive drinks and poor food. I witnessed a huge arguement between two barmen whilst one of them was serving me.. 8 euros for a spirit with mixer, wine was a slightly cheaper option, the continental breakfast did not look great but for an extra charge they had an "English" breakfast, this was in covered turins when we had agreed to purhase the lids were removed to include potatoes with onions, baked beans with peppers and over peppered mushrooms not nice for breakfast.

We checked out and spent a great day in the park, by mid morning I realised I had left my earrings by the side of the bed, I telephoned the hotel and explained that I could easily come and pick them up, I was informed that House Keeping had left and I would have to 'phone the following day, I was staying in Paris that night and 'phoned the following day, I was told that nothing was found in the room. Not only grumpy staff but dishonest I was disgusted.....previously a spanish hotel has posted my daughters' teddy bear to me without me realising it had been left.
With a train station right outside the park I would stay in Paris and commute to the park.
The children we were with loved it but were unaware of the attitude of the staff and the expense. This is the only reason I gave it a score of 1.
I will certainly not be returning

Basic rooms but all you need ie:...

Basic rooms but all you need ie: clean bedding, towels changed daily and room cleaned daily, hairdryer, tv and tea/coffee making facilities. We had a crew room for 5 of us, it slept 6 comfortably. Disabled room had double bed, double sofa bed and add on room with bunks and tv. overall rooms are a little tired looking but for the time spent in them who cares? the public areas of the hotel are clean, good pool area and great facilities for younger children ( mine are all teens so played pool and in the arcade) breakfast is your usual continental with hot optional at extra cost....... buffet breakfast included melon, oranges, yogurt, creme caramel, salad, cheese, cereals, bread rolls, croissants, pain au chocolat, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, fruit juices.... we found this to be quite ample and everything was fresh.
we also dined in the Plantation ( were breakfast is served ) we had the all you can eat buffet at 22.50 euro's per person.... there was a good selection of hot and cold foods including, salmon, roast beef, spaghetti bolognaise, hotdogs in buns, fries, potatoes, chicken nuggets, ham, salad, peas, cauliflower cheese and more, plus a good selection of desserts and unlimited soft drinks.
staff were very helpful although some friendlier than others. shuttle busses for parks were regular and never crowded from hotel to disney as the Explorer Hotel is the first on the route, also first drop off on return from parks. As we have a wheelchair user in our group i only had to ask at reception for the free shuttle minibus with ramp and it arrived within 5-10 mins, returning from parks the minibus staff were based at our bustop and promply escorted us onto the minibus to return to the hotel.... we found this extremely helpful as getting around on public transport isn't always easy with a wheelchair.
all in all i would have given 10/10 if the room decor hadn't looked so tired but would definitley use this hotel again.

The explorer's hotel itself is great....

The explorer's hotel itself is great. It's very spread out as well as being light and airy allowing you a bit of space which is clearly lacking in the Disney parks! The checkin was fast and efficient, however this was at 2am after a VERY long 13 hour coach journey.
The room was clean and comfortable and we all slept well. I would highly recommend this hotel, the only drawback being that its not Disney so you loose the perks such as extra magic hours and characters. The staff were always helpful and efficient and I am in their debt for getting me tickets to the Wild West Show at the last minute - which by the way should be first on your list of things to do!
