After reading reviews of Candia Park felt quite confident that we would enjoy
Our time there we had one week in Candia Park then a week cruising. Candia Park rooms are large and clean nice outside area with table and chairs, swimming pool fantastic area and nice small beach, but get down there early or no chairs left on beach.
We had bed and breakfast food well but would not do full board there.
Candia Park has two problems one is lots of stairs and walk ways are uneven if you have problems walking it no good also mums with prams had problems pushing them on the uneven walkways, also saw some children fall over because of these uneven walkways.
Second problem is getting out of the complex very dangerous, you need to get a taxi can get expensive by the end of the week. We asked about the back exit out of the complex and was told that it was not advisable as a house was being build and it could not be done - well we did find the back exit and used it, do like to go on walks on holiday would have felt very confined if we did not.

" Just back from this holiday and can... "

Just back from this holiday and can highly recommend this destination!
Candia Park is fantastic - really lovely apartments with all mod cons, kitchen area, large balcony, large bedroom with air conditioning (required as it was in the 40's!), large pool area with one fresh and one seawater pool, lots of sun loungers by the pools or down on the private beach.
Watersports and tennis etc are always available. Food was excellent, we were self catering and the supermarket was well stocked but we did try the buffet a couple of nights that the full board people were on and it was good choice, never once did we feel ill due to anything we ate.
Also a smaller restaurant that does European dishes and even takeaways you can take to your apartment, and a pool bar that offers drinks, snacks etc.
Also a games room with internet, bar etc. Crete was very good, we visited Knossos which was good, but the weather was just too hot to roam the ruins! The staff were helpful and friendly too.
Our best holiday so far, what a difference a nice apartment/hotel makes!

" The resort was clean and pretty.... "

The resort was clean and pretty. There are two large pools one salt water and one freshwater. They were very clean. Ideal for families with children of all ages. There were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The resort has its own beach equipped with watersports.
The apartments were spacious and well equipped with kettle, toaster, enough utensils and crockery, a hairdryer and also had a large shaded patio/balcony area.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The food at the taverna on site was very good and also the Greek night buffet was good. We thought the evening entertainment was a bit poor.
The cafe above the supermarket is worth a visit at night for a drink and to watch the moon over the sea.
Agios Nikolaos is 5 min car or bus ride away and has lots of restaurants and shops. La Strada was a very good Greek Italian restaurant. Also worth a visit is KRI KRI on the right hand side of the road on the way to Ag Nik. They make you very welcome and the food is superb. They also have a great bar and pool table to keep the kid occupied.

Large but nicely built resort, somewhat in more traditional style, no high rise blocks!
We went self-catering but ate out every evening in town, nice selection of restaurants around the harbour and the waiters are not too insistant as I have noticed in other resorts! Taxi ride into town is about 7 EUROS one way, I wouldn't recommend walking, its a fair way and as far as I know there is no footpath. Restaurant prices in town are much cheaper than the hotel so its worth it.
The rooms are relatively simple but have air con and are well cleaned everyday. Nice balcony area, we even had a view of the sea despite not requesting this! There is also a safe. Rooms are cleaned and made up regularly and staff are friendly and helpful!
Pool area is fantastic, lots of space, the lower salt water pool is quieter and there are less children around. Theres a nice snack bar overlooking the sea. You can pick up new clean towels every day.
Shop is well stocked and not overly expensive, however we bought that majority of things in the town as this was a bit cheaper.
There is a nice Taverna for lunch but rather pricey plus you can get pizza's to take away if you feel like eating on your own balcony, very handy!
We did the boat trip to Spinalonga which was intersting but not overly spectacular.
This hotel is a great place for a relaxing holiday!!!
