A great hotel - couldn't get closer to the main gondola, great food, great service, great location. After a very cold season, they didn't turn the heating down when it warmed up, so the hotel was like a sauna. The bedrooms we were allocated were in need of refurbishment, and were of a lower standard than most.
The teddy bears on the landing where a source of entertainment for our group.

No need to read any other comments, obergurgl is like somewhere from a dream, and the Deutschmann is absolutely fantastic, could not of asked for anything more, everything about the hotel was 10/10, and there’s no way you could think otherwise, it is situated next to the main cable car so basically door to door skiing.
The Deutschmann is run by a very friendly family and they make you so welcome, if you get the chance to go, take it as we found it a once in a life time holiday plus we went for charismas so it was extra special, we took our son and his friend 14 and 15 and they absolutely loved it and keep nagging to go back 24/7.

Having booked the Deutschmann hotel last December for this December and then read bad reviews I was expecting the worse on arrival for Christmas holidays. Nothing could have been further from the truth, I have stayed at 3 hotels in Obergurgl over the last 3 years and this was the most relaxed, friendly and cosy hotel of the lot - the others were the Crystal and Olympia.
Food was of a very high standard with 5 course meals nightly, my only observation was that the meals tended to go on for 2-3 hours, not good for families with young children. However we were paired at our dinner table with a charming couple and so long dinners were not a problem for us and a very enjoyable evening was had every night.
The rooms were of a good standard and not in need of refurbishment as another review states although this hotel is being joined to a new hotel and linked further to the Crystal and the rooms are going to be refurbished anyway, I would opt to stay in the Deutschmann wing any time.
It is right next to the Festkogl bahn lift, lots of room in the ski/boot room made for easy getting ready in the morning. Complimentary snacks in the bar from 3pm was a nice touch after a hard day's skiing.
