Rooms were average European size (small by American standards) and the beds were extremely hard. The buffet breakfast was OK but not great and didn't change the whole time we were there.
PROS - The hotel was pretty and the staff very helpful. The hamam (Turkish bath) was nice and enjoyable.
CONS - The "free internet access" was a joke. Could only get the internet by sitting in the lobby. The location was HORRIBLE!!! Although it looks close to everything on the map, it's actually at the bottom of a very steep hill that we had to climb every day just to get to the main sights. It was such a trek that we stayed out all day and only came back when we had to. Also, it's frequented by Dutch and German tour groups so the price wasn't cheap.
if you want to stay in Sultanamet, you're better off staying at a hotel near Divanyolu Cadessi (where the tram line is) or Akbiyik Cadessi, near the Four Seasons.

No reviews for Hotel Grand Yavuz-Istanbul?I give you one.The helft of the hotel is renovated, ask for one of this rooms, than you have a 4star room instead of a 3star.Forget that you are English. Behave yourself as a worldtraveler. (you now that the English have a bat reputation on holiday, I am a receptionist in Ostend. I now it)
Hotel Gran Yavuz is verry good, and the staff also.Give the staff who helps you a tip, and they do everything for you. The restaurant is on the 7th floor with a view over the Bosporus and the Blue mosque. The street to the Big Bazar is uphill. Prox.12%. Take a taxi for £ 5. It's £6,50 taxi to the Egyptian Bazar.BE CAREFULL FOR PICK-POCKETS on the streets. 4Pers. from the hotel, incl.my wife. They have more tricks than you can imagin'. You can use the hotelsafe for free.
Thank you, MICHEL D.C.
