Good hotel in a great location
We stayed at this hotel at the end of an 8 day tour in Turkey. The location was fantastic and more than made up for the slightly dated decor. The room we had was very small and with very poor lighting and a smallish window, but it was clean and functional. The bathroom was lovely with a great shower. The beds werent the most comfortable and the bedding was too small for the bed...but this seems like a common problem in Turkey. The breakfast room staff werent that friendly and seemed a little stressed and the breakfast... more
Erboy April 2007
Erboy represents excellent value for money. It si in a good location at a good price. We booked to staat the Ilkay hotel but when we were colected from the airport we were told that we would be staying at the Erboy instead. The desk staff told us this was an upgrade on what we had booked but as I did not see in side the Ilkay I canot comment. The Erboy was great value. Room size was OK for Istanbul and was very celan. Comfortable beds, excellent individually controlled AC. Breakfast was fine. There was some noise very late at night but that... more
nice hotel, great value
The Erboy is a nice hotel in a great location. Staff are friendly and welcoming. It’s in the historic centre on a quieter street. The major sites are in easy walking distance and there is a tram down the road that provides easy access to other parts of the city. We stayed in a standard room which looked a little dated but was clean and comfortable nonetheless. The Turkish breakfast was very good and there is an excellent rooftop bar which provides beautiful views of the city. Overall, the hotel provides a great base... more
Great Service
We have just returned from a week in istanbul staying at the erboy, The Hotel staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, Rooms are confortable and spotlessly clean and the location could not have been better turn right at the end of the road for the shops and left for the historic sites all within a few hundred metres. We stayed Half board and the authentic ottoman cusuine served in the resturant was excelent along with the service.
Great price and service.
We have just returned from Istanbul, we stayed at the Erboy hotel for 3 nights and we paid 100 euros (in total) for a twin room (B/B). The room was very clean, the linen and sheets were changed every day. The breakfast was very good, but it was the same every morning. Floors 4 and 5 are non smoking. The location of the hotel is perfect. The Grand Bazar is 15-20min away. Misir Carsisi / Galata bridge about 10min away. Ayia Sophia & Blue Mosque 10 min. We also took a taxi right outside the hotel to go to Taksim square and paid 6,5... more
good relation of price and service, very friendly
I stayed already many times at the Erboy, travelling on the route to Bulgaria. Situated in the center of old Istanbul, the Erboy allows short walks to most interesting places of Istanbul (Hagia Sophia, Topkapi palace, Great Bazar, Egyptian Bazar), to the railway station, ships to Bosporus and Asia etc. The surrounding area is developing to a good touristic standard, owning still an original turkish flavour with many small shops and restaurants. Although I stayed a few times in more expensive and exclusive hotels of Istanbul (mostly... more
Very helpful staff
I had been in Turkey 4 times before but I had never had any troubling experience. However, on my last trip I had the misfortune of being robbed my credit card in the tram. It was on Sunday 22nd of October and I really was in trouble because we had just 140€ in our room but I had to pay 280€ for all our expenses at the hotel. Moreover, we were leaving on Monday 23rd and it was a holiday in Turkey so couldn't get money from any bank. I spoke to the manager ( Pedro ) who very kindly attended me and we decided that I was to sign a letter... more
Good location
The Erboy offers cheap acommodation central to the old city. Rooms are small, walls are thin, carpet had been re-dyed red and we walked around with red feet. Breakfast is ordinary and you have to get in early or miss out. But, the staff were very friendly, nice bar on the roof and the price was right - we got what we paid for.
Nice location
This hotel, in my opinion is a 2star in terms of room style and food and generel look and feel of the hotel. The rooms are quite cramped and the toilet/shower area (in a double room) is quite cramped. It has a small dressing table, a wardrobe and a double bed (which i found a little uncomfortable). The walls are pretty thin and you can hear noises from the next room. Me and my family were bed and breakfast. To be honest the breakfast was poor and compared to other hotels that i have stayed at in Turkey, the choice of food was very... more
Erboy-great place to stay
Just come back from spending a week here. It was a great hotel, particuarly for 3 star. first its location you really appreciate when you reach there. Rooms were fine, the usual expected bathroom, and very clean which makes a lot of difference staff were real nice and all English speaking. Breakfast was excellent which was what I was apprehensive about but its a great buffet. Minor problems encountered: A/C was fine except sometimes it would cut off occasionally As mentioned earlier there was no chair, which... more
