Pleasant Stay at Ayasofya
Ayasofya was wonderful! We stayed for 3 nights and got picked up at the airport for no charge because of the length of our stay. We were welcomed by the staff and they took our bags immediately to our room. The manager at the desk showed us brochures of activities to do and offered to organize them for us. We were more independent than that and didn't choose to go on tours. It was very close to the Sultanamet Sq, Blue Mosque, Ayasofya, and Topkapi Palace. The only difficulty we had was finding the place - it is on the end of a street... more
Great visit!
We recently came back from our visit to Istanbul, Turkey, having spent four nights at the Ayasofya hotel. We spent the first night in the suite on the top floor but the air conditioning was not working so they moved us immediately to one of their apartments. We were pleased with the suite, save for the ac; however, the apartment room was spacious and nicely appointed. We had access to a private balcony with a wonderul unobstructed view overlooking the Sea of Marmara. The staff was accomodating and pleasant; the hotel was clean; the... more
Worst Hotel By Far
First of all..I must say that this Hotel is by far one of the worst hotels we've stayed in all europe. We are a young couple that travel around europe quite often and we dont ask much from a hotel. Only 2 things. 1. its quiet and 2. clean. This hotel had the clean part ok. but...If we the noise! its incredibly noisy! The first night we stayed at the bottom room...we slept probably 2 hours...we could hear everything. For example...the night reception person was on the computer..we could hear his typing on the key boards! we could here his... more
Ayasofya Hotel - kind and qualified staff
This was my first time in Istanbul and Ayasofya Hotel was a great choice. Not expansive, clean, quiet, great staff, good breakfast and nice location. I've spent there 4 nights with my husband in a double deluxe room. The room was very nice, with a little but confortable sofa (pls see the picture). The bathroom was clean and in good conditions (with a big-big shower inside). It is allowed to smoke inside rooms, so it is better to advise if you are a non-smoker. Our room hadn't a bad smell! I think they really take care of... more
So so
I stayed there for 3 days and got a free transfer from the airport. It's close to interesting places like Blue Mosquée, Hagia Sofia Museum, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace and Sultanahmet tramway stop. But: I wasn't able to turn on the TV by myself (I always had to ask someone to do that), there isn't hot water, the staff isn't very professional (despite of being very nice), the breakfast is just average, the hotel is in a strange, but very calm street.
I like it but not for everyone
I've been to Turkey the last three years ('04-60) and stayed at the Ayasofya at the beginning and end of each trip so I've stayed in at least 5 different rooms. Each one is different and some are much better than others. Do not let them put you in one of the first floor rooms. Each room has individual airconditioning units which are great in the summer. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast is not bad but not exceptional. The location is close to the main tourist attractions of the old city but you have to walk up a fairly steep... more
Very welcoming
Small hotel close to main touristic attractions. calm street. Staff very friendly and helpful, always ready to answer your questions and solve your problems. Good breakfast whatever your likes.
Ayasofya was a home away from home
We stayed at the Hotel Ayasofya for 6 nights and it was the best hotel experience I've had. The hotel was converted from a ninteenth century traditional Turkish house having been restored in the early 1990s. It is charming and extremely well cared for by the unbelievably friendly and helpful staff. We had 2 single standard rooms and they were clean and comfortable with air-conditioning, cable TV and en-suite bathrooms. The public spaces are relaxed and welcoming with the main draw for us being a very underused roof terrace that had peaceful... more
Ayasofya Hotel is the best choice
I was for a weekend trip in Istanbul at Ayasofya Hotel. It is situated in middle of old city, a couple walk minutes away from the Topkapi Palace and Hagia Spohia. The rooms are brand new and decorated well. The hotel staff were very helpful and nice. And the highlight, when you go up to the roof terrace to breakfast like me, to have dinner or to take a drink you will be impressed by the gorgeous view you get. You have a huge panorama of the sea of marmara, princess islands, Bosphorus. I took some photos and enjoy it.
Horrible Smell - Bad Customer Service - Bad Prices
The AyaSofya hotel is a great location - near many of Istanbul's attractions. However, it share's this great location with at least a dozen other hotels (hotels on every corner here). They also include breakfast which is a decent Turkish breakfast. We booked the AyaSofya based on lonely planet. However, the rooms were tiny, overpriced, and there was a horrible sewer smell from 4am - 8am that made it impossible to sleep in the room. We tried moving rooms, but they had none at 6 am ( they said they could switch at 10am). We tried to... more
