Our family (me, wife, daughter (13), son (9)) had a superb holiday. We didn’t want to leave. Situated in a very peaceful part slightly off the beaten track with superb views out to sea and inland. Staff were absolutely marvellous and very friendly. Lots of Germans, unfortunately the antics of one family putting on towels in the evening (for the next day!!) triggered similar behaviour amongst their countrymen - though telling reception that I was going to throw the towels in the pool seemed to do the trick... Food great quality. Room very clean and modern. Would definitely recommend and go again. Flew to/from Heraklion - just under 2 hr drive (super scenery).

This hotel cannot be beaten for a relaxed, get-away-from-it-all experience. Great location, nice tavernas locally. Best staff we’ve ever met - they couldn’t do enough for us. Junior suite accommodation superb. Not much entertainment, but that was OK by us. Would have been 9 out of 10, but menu could have been more varied, and food hotter. Went out of UK school holiday season, but beware, the Germans have different school holiday times, and the hotel is frequented by 80% Germans. Surprisingly little 'towels on loungers' action though! Chania is 20Km, and well worth a visit. Location is also near scenic North Western Mountains. Car is advisable for a few days. Found the hotel through Medhotels, but booked through Bill at Chalfont Holidays.

The Grand Bay Resort Hotel is lovely, a very relaxing break. Not for those who want lots of noisy nightlife. some great local tavernas for food, but the hotels food is pretty good too. I didnt want to leave. The few problems we encountered (we were there in the hotels first week after opening) were quickly resolved. All in all a great holiday

Very quiet and relaxing which is what we wanted, lovely place for a relaxing holiday and it was great to see the turtles coming onto the beach to lay their eggs! Brill!
What wasn’t brilliant was the filthy pool which was so dirty one morning you couldn’t see the bottom of it, and the lovely brown scum line all the way around. The pool which is private at the other side I have to say was very clean! Probably because the people in those rooms monitored who was going in it and if you put a toe in you got told in no uncertain terms it was theirs! It was funny to watch I think they took turns on pool patrol.
The army would have been put to shame! Germans well catered for and always served first, and restaurant staff found it very difficult to get a pot of tea to you within 10 mins, if it came at all! All inclusive it wasn’t it was full board so don’t be fooled.
