Navas Hotel Reviews

Positives first! Nice clean hotel. Rooms are a good size (for two or three people) Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is right in the centre so shops, tapas bars, restaurants, cathedral and Plaza Nueva are all nearby. Negatives! Depending on season the area can be... more

Clean, convenient, but not luxurious
from msmccor100
My wife and I travelled to Granada for an international biology conference (ICOM5). The Hotel Navas was one of 8 or so three star hotels the conference organizers recommended. Among those recommended, Hotel Navas had the highest rating at tripadvisor.com. Our room was very small--about 8' X 12', and featured two twin beds, a minibar, and a writing table. There was no closet, but rather a built in wardrobe containing a small safe. There was no space to put our suitcases, and they were pretty much constantly in a way. We tried to change to a room with a larger single bed, but the hotel indicated that rooms with single beds were smaller still. We examined one of these and decided just to push our twins beds together. Aside from the space issue, the room was clean and comfortable. Each room has its own air conditioner--not window mounted, and these functioned very well. The room rate included a free breakfast, served at 7:30AM. This included cereal, ham, whole oranges, whole tomatoes cheese, mixed fruit (from a can), rolls and croissants, boiled and scrambled eggs, milk, juice, and coffee. The hotel offered a lunch buffet for 8 Euros. This was tasty but somewhat greasy. It included tuna salad, a vegetable salad, paella, salmon, canneloni, and some other dishes. The hotel is very conveniently located on Calle Navas, a street packed with tapas bars and very lively in the evenings. It is a very short walk to the cathedral and a 25 minute walk to Alhambra, although Alhambra is up a very steep hill, and you'll probably want to catch a bus from Plaza Nueve--I made that walk three times. The concierges spoke English very well and were very friendly and helpful. Towards the end of our stay, we rented a car. Hotel Navas has an arrangement with a nearby parking garage to park you car for 13.80 euros a day.
Ok But

Booked a 2 night stay here 28th 29th july 2006 Hotel very clean room was lovely, and very handy for shopping and sight seeing. We only stayed one of our two nights as we had no sleep from the street below very noisy and it went on till about four in the morning. Alright if your a night hawk but if your like us and go to bed between 11 and 12 as we have a child forget it.

We have just returned from 5 nights at this hotel and can recommend staying here when visiting Granada. The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the modern city. It is in a narrow pedestrian only street, so road noise is minimal. However, you will get noise from the many tapas bars all along the street, the early morning street cleaning and movement from other rooms in the hotel. If you have problems with noise then maybe its not the place for you (unless the rooms at the back are quieter), if you don't mind the hustle and bustle of this great city then you could do much worse. The staff are very friendly, helpful and speak English (and tollerate our bad Spanish). The rooms are clean and functional (small) with good bathrooms and small balconies overlooking the bars in the street. The breakfast was good. If you are lucky good rates can be obtained from a variety of sources. Stay in a large, quiet and more expensive hotel if you prefer, but for price, location, friendliness and atmosphere this hotel is hard to beat.
Good if you get a decent size room
from Sally-Manchester
Great location just a short walk to Plaza Nueva. Lively street with wine and tapas bars (probably noisy if you have a room on the front). Plaza Bib-Ramblas just round the corner also a good spot for food and drinks and for exploring Morrocan souks and other interesting streets. Very good breakfast buffet compared to others we experienced in Andalusian hotels. Helpful and friendly staff who spoke good english. Cons: we booked a double room but were given a twin which was very small and pokey. We saw other rooms (doubles) through open doors which looked much better than ours. The sound proofing through the walls between rooms was also very bad so anyone walking with hard shoes and all bathroom usage was extremely noisy from neighbouring rooms.
extremely good hotel

Navas Hotel in Granada. We have just had a wonderfull holidy in Granada, spending 3 nights at the Navas Hotel. The hotel is in an excellent position on a quite traffic free area with tapas bars around. The staff are fiendly and very hepfull. The bedrooms above average....we could see the Alhambra from our window, across the roof tops. The cathedaral is only a few minutes walk, as are all the other favourite places to see. We want to return to Granada again and would definetly stay in the Navas.
Solid, spotless, 3 star
from kglebelands
I'd agree with other tripadvisor reviews that this is a solid 3 star hotel. Yes, the walls are a little thin and you can hear the hustle and bustle of the street below, but this really didn't bother us at all. We paid around £35 per night including breakfast. We got the bus from the airport for 3Euro. It waits for the plane to arrive. Friendliest bus driver, who not only shouted when we got to the right stop but then gave us directions to the hotel too - the pedestrian street is just off the town hall square that's got some odd looking face sculptures in it. Walk back in the direction the bus has just come from for two mins and it's on the right. Why have no other reviews mentioned the free tapas with every drink in the bodegas? Could be anything from a few king prawns to a serrano ham bagel with fries! Still managed to squeeze in more food: Chikito, 9 Plaza Campillo. Popular restaurant, renowned for serving local specialities and local cured ham Bodegas Castaneda, 1 - 3 Almieceros. Good central location just off the Plaza Nueva. Typical bodega whose decor is enhanced by the myriad of bottles on display. Delicious tapas, hams and cheeses. Kasbah, Calderia Nueva. Atmospheric little late-night huant decked with carpets and low North Africa tables serving teas, coffees and Arab sweets. Puerto Del Carmen, town hall square at the end of the hotel street. Smart looking restaurant and bar. Great for a glass of red wine at the end of the evening. Smart, professional staff. I don't know if it was freak weather, but it was 70 degrees while we were there.
Good location

Hotel is conveniently located if arriving in Granada by bus from the airport. It's also got numerous restaurants and tapas bars in the immediate vicinity. Rooms were very clean and well maintained and reasonable value for money. All in all a great place to stay in a central location. Recommend.
A great stay
from MileyMoo
I got a great deal on Orbitz for this hotel ($55 including breakfast), but based on the reviews I did not expect much. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a solid business class hotel with extremely friendly staff who speak English very well. The lobby is comfortable and there is internet access and a coffee machine there (both for a small fee). The room was large enough, and the bed was very comfortable. There were extra pillows in the closet. The bathroom was also large enough and modern. I could hear our neighbors walking around, but it did not bother me much. The breakfast is decent, but not great. It consists of breads and pastries, boiled eggs, bacon and sausage, cheeses, yougurts, cereals and fresh fruit. Again, it was convenient because you could start sightseeing right after leaving the hotel. As mentioned in earlier reviews, this hotel is located on a pedestrian street. We drove to Granada and were able to find parking for 15 euros per day nearby. The hotel is in walking distance to many tourists attractions, such as the cathedral and the "Silk market", and is very close to a major shopping street. There were plenty of people around late at night. It seems that Navas provides a consistently good value, and I would definitely stay there again.

A pleasent stay!

I give Hotel Navas an above average based on Quality vs Price. The hotel is situated down a small pedestrianised street off a square just passed Hotel Lisboa. The staff were helpful and the hotel was clean. The street itself has a lively atmosphere with a few bars and cafes bustling through the day. The noise from the bars, although commented on by other review writers, proved to be no problem. Lastly the location within Granada is supurb.

Hotel Palacio de Los Navas is an excellent hotel to explore the delights of Granada from. The boutique style hotel is beautifully decorated and the breakfasts are amazing. The rooms and bathrooms are immaculate. Due to the smallness of the hotel about 17 rooms there is no... more
