Two stars felt like three :)
We stayed a week in a room overlooking the plaza and liked it a lot. It was nice to follow the people and the pigeons at the plaza from our window and from two little balconies. Alhambra was a gorgeous backdrop to the view! The only downside was the noise during some of the nights when someone was "playing" a guitar and "singing" outside. Our friends had first a dark, small interior room downstairs, which they did not like but they got to change it after the 1st night. Breakfast was good with quite a lot of selection. People at the reception... more
Nice place for the money
Stayed 1 night at Hotel Macia Plaza, in Plaza Nueva. Perfect location for visiting Alhambra. It is a 2* hotel but decent quality. Beds weren't really comfortable but I wouldn't say they are terrible (could be better though). Get a room that does not face the plaza for quietness - people party loud and late on the plaza. Only a few rooms on each floor face the plaza so I'd say 80% of them are quiet. Ours was quiet - no problems. Bathroom was newly remodeled with very clean everything. Hotel has air conditioning with wireless thermostat next... more
Well worth considering
Lets such say that if you stay here you won't go wrong. It's clean, the staff are helpful and the location is great. All in all great value. 4 stars
Great situation
Great little hotel. Modern, clean, comfortable, efficient. Good breakfast. Ideal situation to see the places of interest and to catch buses and taxis. Lots of bars, cafeterias and restaurants around the square.
Macia Plaza is a good choice for Granada
We had a small room tucked in the back at the Macia Plaza, as did the friends we traveled with, so the rooms were very quiet -- we could barely tell we were in a bustling city. For tourists, the Plaza Nueva location is excellent -- easy walking to most tourist attractions and a convenient bus stop out front if you want to ride up to the Alhambra, one part of which looms above you out on the Plaza Nueva. If you are driving, be careful to NOT drive up the street past the Plaza Nueva -- we learned the hard way that this means a half hour... more
Great value tourist hotel
My parents and I stayed at this hotel for three nights before Semana Santa in March. It is in an excellent location, right on the Plaza Nueva, which is where you can pick up the minibus which takes you right to the Alhambra. The rooms were very clean, the bathrooms were more modern and updated than the beds (only single beds appear to be available - for a "double bed" the hotel pushed together two singles). We had rooms that faced the Plaza, and amazingly the volume from the crowd wasnt loud at all. Breakfast buffet was cheap and... more
Wonderful
March 2005, took my daughter for a week in Granada and stayed at the Macia Plaza. Everything was perfect. Clean and staff was very helpful, all except one crumpy man. One bad apple. Right in the center of town. Room looked as if it had just been remodeled. Bathroom fixtures looked brand new. Bus comes right outside your door. Great place to start a walk.
Exceeded our expectations
Macia Plaza exceeded our expectations. It was clean, had good facilities and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Accommodation is on the cramped side but that is to be expected for a Hotel in its category. It could not be in a better location for all the major sights, shopping and eating out. On the subject of eating, while the breakfast is adequate and not overpriced, I would still recommend venturing outside to eat. As I have always found to be the case in Spain, a few yards away you will get a magnificent breakfast with PROPER... more
Perfect
Agree with all the reviews - in fact this is why we picked this hotel. Good price and excellent facilities -esp. the remote air con. Breakfast was excellent. The position was the best feature - you can see the Alhambra from the square and the Albaycin is close by - would recommend the teteria (tea house) Banuelo for a moorish pot of arabic tea. Also recomment the bono turistica - a good buy if you´re there for a few days and intend to do the lot (nb science park closed til 30th Sept.)
Great location, clean rooms, no parking
Very clean and comfortable. The room was a good size. The bathroom was nicely fitted out with a shower and a tiny bath. The location was excellent. Parking nearby costs 13 euros a day.
