What a terrible experience
from moaklershanna
I knew i was in trouble once the taxi driver motioned for someone from the hotel to come out and help me with my luggage (4 suitcases) and was totally ignored. As my husband, myself and two year old child managed to get the luggage through the front door, the 3 men behind the desk just sat there staring at us. There was no hello or welcome. I asked for one of their renovated rooms and the man behind the desk, basically said that I did not book through them (therefore i did not pay a high enough rate to get that room). Okay, fine. We arrive at an old shabby room that looked like it would fall apart if I touched anything. The bathtub was aligned with rust, which made it scary to step in the tub. I could hear the tenants on either side of me. A husband and wife talking loudly in Spanish, which continued for three days until the wee morning hours. If I spoke Spanish, I could have a conversation with them right through the walls. The worst part about it was when my neighbor went to sleep at night. The snoring was so unbearable, I had to turn the faucet on all night just to tune him out. That is how I slept for three days. His head was just inches from mine in the next room. It was disgusting. I asked to have my room switched after the children in the next room started pounding on the walls so hard, I thought their fists would come through, but I was denied a room change. When a party of 100 people arrived to party all night at the hotel, I gave up on sleep. I asked them what their rate is to use the telephone and they said they did not know. They basically wanted to pull the rate out of their behinds. What an awful, shabby, disgusting hotel. I am so embarrassed for them. When we asked if there was any place open on Sunday night to eat out. They said everything was closed and then proceeded to give the menu for their dining hall. When my husband and child went out anyway, we found every restaurant and pastry shops open. What a bunch of greedy, lying, lazy jerks. They made my experience in Granada an incomplete one and that is just sad. Low class and Low rent. that is the only way to describe this hotel.
Very nice hotel
from Globetrottin_Grannie
Hotel Los Angeles My husband and I stayed here for 1 night 24 September as part of a bus tour. Some of the tour were at a different hotel and it seems we hit the jackpot. We had a very nice room with French windows opening on to balcony overlooking the street. A/C sort of worked, bathroom was modern. No fridge. There is a café downstairs overlooking the pool where we bought lunch which we then took back to our balcony, before hitting the town. It was a reasonable walking distance to the main square. Even though the rather surly front desk staff told us we would need a taxi. We were there on a Saint’s day which was interesting for a while, watching the procession. But soon became overpowering as the entire population of Granada seemed to turn out. We had hoped to go to the San Nicolas lookout over the Alhambra, but had to give up. (Had been to Alhambra in the morning with the tour) The streets were lined with people and it became impossible to cut through the procession. It took us ages to get back, as the crowds filled the streets. There was no question of a taxi; all streets were closed off by 8.00pm. We got dinner at the hotel as part of our tour; it was set, not buffet for a welcome change and very nice. There were 2 tour groups, and a few people on their own. Highlight came when a trio came in and sang Spanish songs. Then they handed out copies of their CD, 10 Euros if you wanted to buy it (of course we did!) Breakfast buffet was fine, choice of hot and cold food and it was open early. A note of caution-my friend almost lost her handbag in a café in Granada when she placed it on the ground by her chair, we were distracted by a busker and a young man began kicking her bag as if it were a football. He had got 2 table s away when we realised and shouted at him. He stopped and looked at us and shrugged before sauntering off with his mates!
Good food, pleasant room

Something of a surprise for us, as our tour was actually due to stay at a different hotel. Very glad we came here. Comfortable room and delicious meal, what more do you need. Location not bad, if you don't mind hills.
5star accomodation, 3star price
from MarkymarkB
We stayed 3 nights in August and had 3 rooms in the newer part of the hotel - one suite and 2 doubles for daughter and mother-in-law, even though we booked two singles. All rooms were next to each other. Although they were on the 5th floor, the lobby & fire exit for the rooms was actually at road level due to the hillside location. Road noise was minimal. Rooms were luxurious with excellent bathrooms, marble floors, efficient AC, fridges and safes, although the suite had the spa bath and basins actually in the room, which is fine when you're not expecting the rest of the family to come and go! Pool looked excellent (one reason for booking) but didn't try it as weather was only 20C while we were there instead of the 40C we expected! Granada centre is walkable but buses are cheap and only a short walk away ( we bought Bono cards which were just about worth it costwise if you go everywhere, but avoided queuing at the Alhambra). Breakfast was adequate but not outstanding. Only had one dinner in hotel which was menu of the day (because we were in hurry to get out to the Alhambra for an evening theatre performance) - food was adequate shall we say. Plenty of restaurants both nearby and more central - recommend Pizzeria il Gondoliere. Desk staff were fine and spoke adequate English - we made the reservation by phone (hotel website is a bit unreliable in that area) and were not even asked for a credit card. We will stay again when we return, assuming prices are still as reasonable!

We have just stayed at the Los Angeles Hotel, with Children age 4 and 6 and with Grandparents! It is fantastic value, we parked on the street free nearby. The room was clean and comfortable, air con. quiet. Pool excellent. Service a little slow but very helpful. 20 mins walk to Alhambra but we just parked on the street next to it free and walked straight in! You can also walk into the shopping area. Easy walk.15mins. Breakfast good choice of fresh fruit/ pastries/cereals/eggs etc.
good location, good hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stay there for 2 nights in november 2004. I found the hotel quite good, including the location. The breakfast and service were also good. I would recommend it.
Good location
from wurly_monster
I only stayed here one night, so my impressions are limited. The hotel is in a good location with some decent views from some of the higher up rooms. Our room was pretty good except for the fact that it smelled a little like smoke. We didn't get to try the restaurant as their was a wedding reception on during our stay.
Not value for money
from SharonH1902
Initially this hotel appeared to quite pleasant, the reception area and indeed all the communal areas are well maintained and furnished and staff appeared to be very pleasant and helpful. However first impressions do not always last - the guest rooms were shabby and it soon became apparent that the walls in this hotel were so thin that not only could you hear people in adjacent rooms using their bathroom etc, you actually felt that they were using yours. As my stay progressed staff lost any eagerness to please and the breakfast waiting staff can best be described as surly. Advice as always - check your bill carefully before you sign it - you don't want any little surprises when you return home and scrutinise it in detail. All in all this was not a great hotel and while it was convenient for the Alhambra it wasn't value for money.

Generally the hotel is pleasant. It is clean and tidy and most staff are helpful and attentive. The pool area is well maintained and is a welcome relief in the hot summer period. Reception staff could be surly but we found it best just to ignore this as on the whole... more
