Guadalupe Hotel

Our family spent two nights at this hotel in July. We were joined by another family also traveling with children. We all agreed that we got a great value for the money. The rooms are large and clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were very nice. Breakfast was wonderful and the bar served good Tapas. Service was always good and the front desk extremely helpful. The location can't be beat. The major attraction is the Alhambra and it is literally right out the front door. You can't be closer to the Generalife and the Alhambra. This lovely hotel is very well located, the staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and spacious. If you want to go to the heart of the city, there is a bus service that takes you downtown. The restaurant at the hotel is also very good.

We found out when we were there that the hotel was a winner of some best budget hotel award, and deservedly so as this hotel was exceptional value for money and right beside the Alhambra, which is the must see attraction in Granada. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only minor problem was an unpleasant smell along the hotel corridors but thankfully there was no such smell in the room. Our aircon was also not working properly but when we complained, the hotel manager promptly fixed the problem.... more

Once again I used TripAdvisor to find a hotel and was not disappointed. Our room had French doors and a little balcony that overlooked a grove of olive trees with the Sierra Nevada in the distance. The hotel is very reasonable, right by the Alhambra, and the bus into town is 2 minutes away. Staff are helpful and accommodating, the bar excellent, and the restaurant fine. We took a taxi to the train station because of our luggage and that cost under 10 euros.

If the objective of your visit to Granada is the Alhambra, then there is no better hotel value in the city. The Guadalupe's proximity to the Alhambra's ticket office alone (practically across the street) is its most distinguishing attribute. Well, after I made reservations in Granada and Sevilla for the wrong days, I had to find another hotel in Granada. Did the TripAdvisor search from a computer in Madrid and found the Hotel Guadalupe. It is about 50 meters from the entrance to the Alhambra. It's a very nice place, like a small version of a nice Sheraton. Very helpful front desk staff, clean & attractive room, great rate. We agree with the previous posters. The hotel is perfectly situated across the street from the Alhambra (you can even go to get your reserved tickets the day before) and has excellent access to public transportation. Arriving by car, you can use the watched Alhambra parking. Keep your registration form from the hotel as with this you get a discount on the parking fee upon leaving. We spent Holy week 2005 in Granada and stayed at the Hotel Guadalupe and were so happy. Our school uses this hotel for school trips. Based on their recommendation, I canceled our nights at the paradar (VERY expensive) and made reservations for 5 nights at the HG. It was the best decision I made. There are many wonderful and expensive restaurants to try and for what you save on the room, you can afford the wonderful meals (Carmen de San Miguel was spectacular for dinner). Going with Above Average only because of the location. The location was ideal for visiting the Alhambra, as every other review mentions. And, while it was only a short walk down into town to see every other wonderful thing in Granada, it was twice as long going back up after a night of walking...we found ourselves seeking out a taxi for the return trip! I agree with everything in the two reviews below and will now concentrate on making an additional point which some travellers may find useful..... The parador within the grounds of the Alhambra costs approx four times as much as the Guadalupe at the time of writing and is indeed highly recommendable, but if you don't want to spend all that money and/or can't get in, and still wish to stay right by the Alhambra, the Guadalupe makes a very good substitute.
