Most disgusting place I have even been in
My daughter & I got to this place & I could not believe my eyes or nose. You would have to be blind, & have no sense of smell to stay here. I felt like I was in a bad dream. A sign that reads a deposit for TV remote & Telephone is not good for me. We went to our room & it was disgusting. The window opened into an elevator shaft. We asked for another room w/a window. It opened but there was a huge sheet of old plexiglas over it. The entire place smelled of the most disgusting air freshener/cleaner or what ever you call it. The front... more
Acceptable,low budget accomodation
Hostal, not hotel is the key word. Basic facilities in the room, not too friendly staff but very convenient location. Airport transfer bus just stops 100mtrs from the hotel entrance, main bus station, for further trips, also just few bus stops away.
Good base for exploring Granada
I stayed at the Atenas for two nights in February and was quite satisfied with my stay. My room was certainly small and looked on to a dark inner courtyard, but the bed was very comfortable and there was no noise whatsoever to disturb my sleep. The bathroom was fine, though there was no plug for the bathtub. Hot water was in plentiful supply, however. The hotel is situated on one of Granada´s main avenues and I found the location excellent - the Catedral and Capilla Real are only five minutes´ walk away and the Alhambra is within easy... more
Don't go unless you suffer from insomnia!
I was expecting street noise but that was not the problem our room 105 was over an alleyway & the pedestrian noise continued until 0400 in the morning requests & comments to Reception were ignored. The hotel was room was spotlessly clean though.
Fair service, good location
I stayed here with my fiancée for 3 nights during peak season. Its rates were that of a hostel but the quality of the place seemed more like that of a hotel (it had an ensuite bathroom and a TV, for instance). The reception staff were straightforward and polite. Located on the Gran Via, it was within walking distance of all the tourist sites (such as La Alhambra) The one small complaint I have is that we requested a double room and instead received a twin room.
cheap, clean ,good location, parking but read on
Review posted jan 2006 but stayed there a couple of years ago so things may have changed. The reason I am writing this review now is that we are going to Granada again and I was looking on TA when I saw this hotel. The wife and I had a debate as to whether or not to stay there again, our points are. £36 GBP ( about 50US$) for 3 nights! If your on a budget this is the one for you. I doubt you will find cheaper Good location, very short walk to shops bars etc. Car Parking , not many hotels have this Air con,... more
Give this one a miss!
We booked two rooms next door to each other 8 months in advance and received confirmation that the rooms would have nice views and be close together if not next door. On arrival in the afternoon we were given rooms on separate floors. We complained that this was not at all suitable as we had two children with us - as it shares the same building with another Hostal, the rooms are on locked floors - you get a key to your room and a key to the floor you are on. Needless to say, we had no views! Not only was the receptionist totally... more
Don't Go!
We stayed here 2 nights in a dirty room with holes in the sheets and graffiti on the insides of the drawers! We'd requested a room with shower, and there was an en suite shower - but no toilet! There was only one toilet on the floor, usually with a queue of bewildered tourists outside it. There was only one blanket on each bed and no heating - in April - fortunately we knew enough Spanish to get it turned on. The staff were not very helpful either. Give it a miss!
Surly receptionist
Cheap rates but I wish we'd paid more than EUR 42 for a pleasant room in another hotel where someone at the desk can manage a smile. Room was bare, mattress a bit uncomfortable. Location was on main street.
