Apart from the Alhambra Parador, you could not choose a better placed hotel for a visit to the Alhambra. it is only about 150m from the entrance. Parking at the hotel is limited but there is a special concession for parking in the Alhambra car park, which is just across the... more

Brilliant Hotel
from A TripAdvisor Member
Excellent Hotel all round, I stayed there with 3 friends in late September. We booked single rooms, whiche were comfy , air conditioned, TV, Mini-bar, shower/bath etc. brilliant Pool, got the sun all day, and still warm enough to swim, just! Service excellent, location excellent (next to the Alhambra). Lovely walk through the tree lined roads into town, downhill. Conker season, so a bit of a hazard. Hundreds of Tapas bars and restaurants to choose from. Great hotel, great city. I would definitely return.
Venue makes this a great hotel

Bit noisy bit shabby, pool only open in summer even when a very hot October..but 5 minutes from the Alhambra with wonderfully helpful staff. This is a hotel for staying when sightseeing not a long stay hotel but for sightseeing in Granada on a more limited budget it cant be beaten.
Perfect Location!

We stayed here two nights in early October 2005 and I can highly recommend it to anyone planning to see the Alhambra. This comfortable tourist hotel was a real bargin for us travelling in the shoulder season. Staff were generally friendly, helpful and spoke English well. The hotel seems to cater to package tour groups more than independant travellers and there were mostly German and French guests there during our stay. Our spacious room was very clean, quiet and in excellent condition. The complementary breakfast was so enjoyable we came back to the hotel our first night to partake of their dinner buffet, which was delicious and a real bargin at only 11 euros per person. It is a bit of a hike up/down the hill into town, so it would not be my choice of location if I were NOT seeing the Alhambra, but local bus service is excellent so we didn't feel any inconvenience when we wanted to pop downtown. Located in a quiet, park-like setting, if you stay here don't miss the amazing park that runs just behind the hotel. There are walking paths though an olive grove and some stunning views of the city of Granada and the Alhambra buildings. Very romantic and highly recommended at sunrise or sunset. I would definitely stay here again.
Great location just opposite Alhambra

I stayed here with 3 friends in August, and we have no complaints whatsoever. The Alixares is in a wonderful position to see the Alhambra - in fact, they share the same car park! The rooms were spacious, clean and looked new. The staff were polite in dealing with us. Although it is not in the town centre, there are shops nearby to buy basics such as bottled water and stamps. There are public phones in the ground floor of the hotel where you can call overseas using a phone card, and there is internet access as well. I would recommend this hotel for anyone going to Granada for the first time and are keen to see its main tourist highlight - the Alhambra.
Single Traveller

I booked a single room at the Alixares Hotel for one night and would highly recommend. My check In was faultless. The room spotless. Check Out was a dream and they even ordered a taxi for me to the bus station, giving me the number of the taxi so that I knew it was mine! You can get a free map from arrivals at the airport and all the Hotels are marked and there is usually someone there to ring your hotel for you. Turn right out of arrivals and catch the airport bus, €3, in to town. Be sure that you know your stop. I got a taxi from the stop after the Catedral to the Alixaries which cost €7. The taxi from the hotel to the bus station cost me €7 and the bus to Nerja cost €8.10.
Perfecet location
from lorenzo72
I completely agree with the previous review (by the way I stayed at Alixares exactly the same days as you, what a coincidence!). The hotel is great for visiting Alhambra (and yes, book your visit!) and taking buses (n. 30,32 and 34) to city centre (ticket is 95 cents). I found the pool very nice but with a small solarium and the first time we got up there, there was no place to lie down: it can get very crowded! Breakfast was good and staff very helpful too (even Italian is spoken, which is not so common in Spain!). The only thing is that smoking areas are not separated from non-smoking ones and that can be annoying for non-smoking people like me. Parking is in front of the hotel (that's the Alhambra parking and by staying at the hotel you get a preferral price) To be recommended.
Excellent hotel

I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. I stayed 2 days from 14th August and I was really pleased with the friendly staff, the small but clean and private swimming pool, the very comfortable room and the very good food at the hotel buffet restaurant. My room was a large one at the front on the 1st floor, but the double glazing was very good so external noise was not a problem... This hotel is 2 minutes walk from the bus station and there are buses to the centre every 5 mn (I am not kidding!!). It is located in a very beautiful location (in the middle of nature and 5 mn walk to the entrance of the Alhambra). Because we landed at midday and had booked our visit to the Alhambra for the afternoon (by the way, DO book your visit to the Alhambra BEFORE the day, and arrive in front of Nasrid Palace 5-10mn before your half hour entrance time starts ) , it was very convenient to be walking distance to the site. Also, at the end of the day after a 4-hour visit at the Alhambra, I can tell you that I very much appreciated to have only to cross the road to be at the hotel. In the evening, we went to town to watch a flamenco show (this was suggested by the hotel reception, 23 euros per person) and we didn't regret it. If I was to go back to Granada, I would definitely stay again at this hotel.
Great couples hotel
from justinejj1
Not a four star by English standards, however, still a clean hotel. The pool could have been better if there was music and a bar. The restaurant was clean and the food not bad. Staff very helpful and recommended other restaurants to eat in. Great hotel for couples but nothing there for children.
Great hotel if you are fit
from Mike_don
Located near the Alhambra, but it is still hills, not for the unfit, location is ideal even for the city, busses run till 11.00 pm every few minutes, breakfast was ok coffee was very poor, we tried the BBQ but the floor was not cleaned not up to some 4 staR STANDARDS hence NO EXCELLENT MARK not all rooms are spacious, make sure you specify, also not many balconies. WE WILL GO BACK IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT NEXT TIME WE ARE IN GRANADA. parking was as a special rate in the Alhambra car park 11.50 euro per night
Great location to visit Alhambra
from A TripAdvisor Member
I finally chose this hotel after horror stories of driving and parking in old town Granada, and it was an excellent choice. It is an easy walk to both the Alhambra and the bus stop to get a ride down to Plaza Neuva and the old part of town. It is easy to drive to the hotel (follow the Alhambra signs) and the front desk personnel speaks English. The rooms were spacious and clean, and we were pleased with our stay. Room rates seemed to be comparable to what I was seeing in the old town area. We arranged to see Alhambra when it opened (8:30 a.m.), so this location was ideal for us.

Wonderful hotel, staff great, nothing is too much trouble. Really great value for money. Clean, comfortable and very good location. Granada is absolutely fabulous I don't think you could ever tire of visiting there, so much to see and do. It is a 15minute drive if you... more
