We wanted to go somewhere a little bit different for our honeymoon, so chose Budapest. It is a wonderful place. The hotel was first class. The main city centre is quite busy, but there are lots of places to see and lots to do. The city park is great, it has a zoo, circus and thermal baths. Margaret Island is beautifully relaxing , with a musical fountain. The brilliant thing about Budapest is you get two for one. Buda on one side of the Danube and Pest on the other. Wonderful churches and architecture are everywhere. The people are really friendly and you feel safe walking out at night. Freindly little bars abound. The food was always top rate and everything is excellent value for money. All in all a place that has not succumbed to the usual tourist commercialism, at least not yet. My advice go soon before it gets spoilt.

Lovely architect, good food, Goulash very good. But beware you get the right change.
We had 6 glasses of wine they charged for 6 bottles.
Was a cheap place to go but prices have shot up this last couple of years. Go to the Thermal baths in the Gellet hotel, very ornate but be careful which baths you enter. Try the old market which is very interesting and cheap.
Must go To Gundels restaurant excellent the Queen visits, Violinist play at your table the food is superb also go to Sunday brunch at Gundels and the Marriot Hotel Champagne and all you can eat for 15.00 each wonderful l recommend it. Be careful when you wobble back. Hotel Helia is a thermal hotel with spa excellent also Kempinski Hotel both 4 stars.
