Aug 2008, Mr A Gerrard

this was our third visit to this hotel and once again we had another enjoyable stay.the food was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful, one thing we have noticed in our stays here is that british guests do seem to be in the minority! With Agios Nikolaos only a ten minute walk away the hotel is ideally situated and the sea views amazing. The only downside was the lengthy journey by the tour operators coach to and from the airport, i would probably get a taxi next time.

Jul 2008, Mr D Gardner

Just back from family holiday with my wife and children 15 and 16 year old to the Mirimare Hotel in Crete. The hotel is set on a hillside just off the coast in a beautiful bay. Our sea view room was small but you are not in the room much so this was no hardship. Room has a fridge so you could buy cold drinks at the local shop 100 yards away and keep them cold. Sitting on the balcony in the evening looking over the bay was wonderful. The hotel bar that was a few floors above us had similar outlook as did the restaurant. Hotel is set in a hillside so quite a hike to the reception from sea level with most of the rooms above this level(but not all so ask for rooms on 2nd 3rd or 4th level). Hotel has a small pool at reception level and larger pool right at the top level with pool bar/restaurant,this had a very friendly waiter and served excellent food, even for a fussy 16 year old. Plenty of sun beds so no need to get up and reserve them with towels in the morning.
Other facilities were tennis court, gym, pool table, board games.
We were half board ,which we were not sure about before going, but were very pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety of food on offer. Drinks are not cheap but where is now that the euro is so strong. Staff very friendly, curteous and helpful.
10 minute walk from a beach that has water sports (jet ski/banana boat/water skiing etc). Beach sandy and shallow in the sea for a good way out.
15-20 minute walk to Ag Nik which has a good variety of bars and restaurants both at the marina (closest to hotel) or at the port/lake. Best meal outside the hotel was at the marina ( retaurant called ava I believe).Taxis tended to be €5 even though you were only going about a mile so they are expensive.
Plenty of trips and places to visit if you want (we did boat trip and jeep safari which both kids enjoyed).
Very warm in Crete but where we were had a very welcome breeze most days.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to be in a relaxing and quiet setting but not far from town and beach

brilliant holiday! hotel in a great location right on the beach and one minutes walk from the center. nightlife is awsum would definatly recomend it to anyone under thirty! dont go here unless u like partying all night through till the mornin lol. the music at night is wicked, beware of how many free shots you drink though cos they wreck your stomach for the next night out and they can make u dangerously drunk before ya know it trust me ha! most workers here are fit brits and up for a laugh. hotel room was clean and tidy no bugs thank god! hotel owner was friendly. pool is nice and quiet so u can sleep ya hang over off in the day. ya hav to pay for sunbeds at the beach so we stayed at the pool instead. the road leading up to the main night life is fine in the day but gets really dark at night and as it is the road that leads to the beach i wouldnt risk walking it alone at night, stick together girls! food places are great some traditional greek and some british so you can enjoy a mix. all greek people we met were very friendly. fab place to go met some awsum people who made the holiday even better.

Jan 2008, Miss T Gwynne

Went from July 20th to August 3rd 2007 with all sorts of horrible thoughts in my head about the Apartment and Stelios and his family but on arrival found he was incredibly friendly and helpful. True he was out to get money on the air con but stand your ground and he gives up. For the two weeks we were there he was there whenever we needed him, this was mainly to get rid of things that had flown into our apartment, but also handy when locked out of your apartment!
Rooms were basic but you get everything you need, and the location is amazing. At night you can go on the roof and have a drink, (not that your suppose too), and watch the sun go down before going out partying, just one thing to be careful of, and that’s the dark alley up to the strip.
Overall a fab holiday, (I think I got a bonus though, that’s where I met my partner!) and would love to go back summer 2008, and would definitely stay at Mirimare again, ideal location and some fabulous memories of the place.

Jan 2008, Miss D Cooke

I went Miramare last summer. There were 6 of us. When we arrived we all paid 20 euros for the air con. We had two rooms - 4 in 1, 2 in another. The rooms were very spacious and the bath room was a good size. One of the rooms was looking over the pool, other was looking over beach.
The Miramare is backing onto Malibu beach which is fantastic!
To get from the night life back to Miramare we had to walk down an alley which had no lights! So be careful.
The only one thing we didn’t agree with is once we ran out off toilet roll they didn’t replace it, when we ask for more. The owner of the Miramare said we had to pay to have more!
Around the pool you are not allowed to take your own drinks, as we found out as we got our bottle water taken off us.
Overall the holiday was brilliant.

Despite getting this holiday for an absolute bargain and having an ace time this hotel really tries to rip you off! They try to charge you to breathe! lol! The shower was rubbish and you had to sit on the toilet to shower! lol! However Malia in itself is amazing and drinks are amazingly cheap! euro a drink! wahoo!
Beach is right next to this hotel, in fact its on your doorstep! However, again they also attempt to get as much money out of the English as possible. The beach has loads of activities such as windsurfing and banana boats etc.
Everyone was really friendly and we made loads of friends each night! defo recommend the Newcastle bar, its ace, cheap and fun! loads of offers from the PRs although annoying after your first night. Got bladdered every nite for about 20 euros.
Food was also really cheap and good quality, for those who can't eat anything but MacDonalds there is one on the strip, and a subway!
Ideal for groups or couples, best hol ever! Going back next year. Just be careful of the Miramare, ask for an apartment rather than a studio and also stand your ground with bartering!

Nov 2007, Miss JJ Jones

We went to Crete Mira Mare Hotel and had a fantastic time however we paid £5000 all of us all together for nice rooms which we didn’t get! The shower was broken, the bed boards fell apart, damp on the walls, no safe which was said to be included and excrement in the swimming pool which was just fished out with a net.
Whilst swimming in the pool our family and a few others we’d met suffered stinging on the face and redness of the skin due to over added chlorine and dirty water! We complained about our rooms and eventually kicked up a fuss - the boss gave us his villa but he said this was a one off! The villa made our holiday, our own pool and view of the beach! What we weren’t informed of was that our private pool was subject to typhoid - it took 2 days for them to sort it but eventually did.
We had a daily cleaner who was very friendly to the children as well as all the staff! The food upstairs on the ala carte is definitely not for children and more rather suited to people with adult tastes, they served very traditional food - very nice! The hotel offers alot to do and very easy access to beaches but its not all beaches there’s excursions the hotel run and jet skiing nearby - you must try it!
The hotel wasn’t as good as we expected however we do tend to have high expectations for what we intend to book. If it wasn’t for the villa the boss lent us we’d probably never even enjoyed staying there!
The balconies on the rooms were noted as dangerous on a sign as there are high strong winds! Not suitable for children playing around! We had an amazing holiday despite all the downers and were planning on going back to Crete, not to the same hotel but definitely Agios Nikolaos! Don’t be fooled by the henna tattoos in the town, they stain the bedroom sheets and you'll end up getting a £40 fine like we did!
But overall a fantastic holiday experience.

Stayed in Miramare for the last 2...

Oct 2007, Mr A Clark

Stayed in Miramare for the last 2 weeks in August. Best holiday me and the lads have had yet!
Stelios and the family who own the hotel were great, he sorted us A/C and Safe into one price per room and did us 4 drinks for the price of 3 at the pool bar.
Rooms were clean, tidy, basic but ideal for a wash sleep and change. A/C was needed as it was red hot every day.
Thanks to everyone at Miramare inc security who prevented any trouble or thieving on a night.
2 bad points one not really a major issue.
1. Loo roll was like gold dust
2. Malia strip at around 7am was just like a bombs dropped and stunk (so stay in bed till at least 3pm).
Other than that was a fantastic lads holiday. Wouldn't recommend to family's with small kids.

Just got back from Malia staying in...

Aug 2007, Miss Z T

Just got back from Malia staying in Mira mare apt. Do not go here if you are over the age of say 23. Malia is full of drunken teenagers and I don’t think I came across any one over bout 23.
The apartments themselves are very basic and small although clean and are perfect for what everybody at Malia comes for.
It’s situated on the beach and has a small but clean pool with a beach and pool bar. There are always people outside the hotel on the beach drinking but are kept civilised by the security guard.
The nightlife is just a few minutes walk from the apartments and is a long strip of bars and clubs. 3 for 1 drinks free fish bowls and shots. These drinks are definitely not watered down and everywhere is open until the crack of dawn. The nightlife can’t really be heard from the apartments which was great as the strip is so noisy.
There are plenty of places to eat in the day the red lion an English pub is a must. Cheap and delicious
Do not get a quad they are so dangerous and drunken people riding up and down the strip at all hours. Once hired out, the Greek owners will steal them back then expect you to pay for them... I heard of this happening a few times.
A few tips, get a security box thing and do not leave your belongings anywhere. I left my digital camera in a my bag with money on a sun lounger for a second while I went for a dip in the sea and it was stolen.
Take loads insect repellent I was bitten badly.
Go on the Olympic holiday excursions... pub crawl... booze cruise and beach party, these were fantastic and had so much fun doing them.
We went in a group of 4 girls all aged 19 and against the odds of a few things happening (stolen belongings and stuff) we had a great time.
We went there for a fun packed drunken sun blaring holiday and that’s what we got.
Its what you make of it and we defiantly had a fantastic time.

Aug 2007, Miss S T Hayde

I'm 17 form Liverpool and I think these apartments are very nice, basic and clean. I went with all my friends, 10 of us altogether and 3 of us in one room for two weeks and we had a great time. It is right on the beach but the bad thing is you get sand everywhere in your apartment, but cleaners clean that up for you when they come. The people there are very nice and you get a good welcome.
Its down a long dark alley though so don't walk back on your own, but you don't get all the noise from the strip. The strip is really really good and the people out are very friendly.
It was my first holiday with the girlz and I couldn't have asked for a better holiday. You can't have people back in your apartment at night but we snuck our friends in all the time just don't let the security guard see you, you will get a 40 Euro fine per person.
I would recommend Miramare to anyone and I would go there again definitely!!
