Hotel Budapest is amazing - very clean, easy transport links to the main tourist sights (the hotel is out of the town but the tram stops outside the hotel and runs straight to the main tourist sight change over point). The hotel staff were fantastic - they spoke excellent English and were very helpful when we were asking about how to get to places and queries about restaurants etc. The local transport network is very good and easy to use. Most people speak a small spattering of English and you can normally make yourself understood. There are plenty of places to see; we weren't into going into the museums and stuff but there was plenty of things to see. I'd recommend taking a boat trip at night down the Danube, the lights make the city look spectacular. Definitely take a trip to Margaret Island - it looks quite industrial until you get onto the island but its very pretty and peaceful. You can hire bikes and little electric cars - we hired a bike for two and had a fantastic time riding about the island. There are loads of places to eat, but you need to be careful when you get the receipt as they expect at least a 10% tip. We didn't find the main drinking area, they don't seem to have the same view to bars and clubs that we do. They have a couple of boats that are oubs on the river that were lovely to drink in. I'd recommend Budapest for a short city break if you like to walk about and look at the amazing architecture. The city has beautiful buildings but lots of grafitti and it sometimes seems a bit run down. It doens't detract from the overall beauty of the city but is defintiely something I wasn't expecting!

A very comfortable hotel, a short distance from the main square which is the hub of the bus and tram routes.
There is a tram stop right outside the hotel, and in the park opposite is a cog wheel train which takes you up into the mountains. It runs regularly and it is quite a different world up there!
The Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms although small were well appointed. As the hotel is cylindrical, the interior corridors seem a little claustrophobic, but the views from the rooms are fantastic.
I would advise visitors to purchase a "Budapest card" from the airport. Depending on your length of stay - we purchased one for 3 days and for the duration we could hop on and off the trams and buses free of charge, and get discounted entry into most of the major attractions - It was well worth the money.
January was a cold month to visit, it went down to minus 10 at times, but one advantages was that there were less tourists and we did manage to see quite a lot in our 3 days.
Would definitely consider going back in a warmer month, and would certainly stay in this hotel again.

Excellent hotel, in a great location and from our floor (7th) we had a great view of Budapest. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast caters for all with a variety of dishes from cakes to salads, fresh fruit and cooked traditional dishes. Yummy. Timed with a trip to the Grand Prix made it a weekend to remember. Make sure you walk up to Varhegy (Castle Hill) as there are great views of the Parliament Buildings and the River Danube.
