" Hotels that cater for lots of... "
Submitted By: Mr C Jones
Hotels that cater for lots of different companies can be a bit chaotic but this was o.k. The only real problem was that they were building a new beach right in front of it so there was some noise.
Restaurants were much of a muchness but we did enjoy Migomis, overlooking the lake. As for bars they were pretty noisy. We did find a nice little pub called The Fluffy Duck, which is English run and not as manic as most of the bars in the town.
Worth trying the day trip to Spinalonga. Taxis are expensive so try to stay in a place like this near the centre so you can walk everywhere. Some people that we talked to were in a place called Havania and were paying about a fiver every time they wanted to go in or out of the town - 140 pounds on top of their holiday. Overall the holiday and the hotel were very good and I would go back again.

On the whole we had a good time, but the hotel wasn't up to scratch :(
If you are over 50 years of age, then you will fit in fine at the hotel, but I am 33 and my girlfriend 26, and on most nights eating at the restaurant, we were ignored and overlooked, older people sitting down after us were getting served before us, we just got the impression that they really didn't want young couples at the hotel as 90% of the people staying there were over 50.
On one occasion the restaurant was full and we were told to wait in the bar and the manager would come and get us, but this never happeneded, yet and older couple did the same and was collected and offered a free drink.
On the whole the food was standard, a bit british for my liking, chips, fish fingers, peas, carrots etc, hardly any Greek food at all :( very bland and often luke warm
The rooms were standard enough, we had a nice sea view (recommended) the A/C didn't work properly in our room for 4 days due to technical faults. The hote itself is quite dated and smells a bit mouldy and stale, but the place was clean and our rooms were cleaned everyday. The brochure stats that the hotel has a 'Private Beach' this is not the case, the hotel 'owns' the beach, but thats it, you still have to pay 7 Euros for sunbeds, and any person can walk off the street and go to the beach, so it's not private at all.
So to sum up (I could go on for a while) this isn't really a 4 Star Hotel, more a 3, if you are a young couple (under 40) I would not recommend this hotel as there is no life or soul, the bar is always empty and the swimming pool is so quiet in the day, you can hear a pin drop
The resort of Aig Nik is a great place to stay, lots to do and see and very cosmopolitan, if you want the pumping sounds and night club scence go to Malia !!! This is a very chilled and relaxed resort, lots of bars to drink at, many offering free shots !! There are plenty of little cafes and tavernas to each lunch at or any evening meal and not badly priced either, if we come back to Aig Nik we will go Self Catering and eat out each night !!! Aig Nik isn't the best place for beaches, there are a few doted around but are a mix of Shingle and sand, but on the plus side the water is lovely and clear and you can snorkel for hours :) the shingle beach opposite the hotel was great for that as it got deep within a few metres of the beach, Most nights we drank at the Aquaris Bar, which is just along from the Hermes Hotel, lots of free shots and great staff, Will working the door was great fun :)
