The hotel was clean and well decorated but the rooms were very small for 3 people. There was some unfriendly staff who could hardly understand english. The restaurant manager was kind and friendly and ensured a table of six was reserved every day of our stay but the... more

Lovely Hotel
from staffords
Just returned from a lovely 2 weeks, all inclusive, in the Coral Beach booked with Olympic Holidays. Although 3 star hotel it was very clean (linen changed daily), friendly staff, convenient location and excellent food (desserts to die for!). Small shingle beach across road from hotel, shared with sister hotel, Hermes whose facilities could be used. The swimming pool was on the 2nd floor overlooking the bay - as was the dining room and our room. We were a short walk from the pretty harbour and the lake (and sandy/shingle municipal beach). At night the views were breathtaking - especially from the top of the lake. There were many nationalities staying at the hotel but unfortunately there were a small minority (not English) who were rude and aggressive to the staff - having said that I would still thoroughly recommend this hotel. Thank you Coral Hotel for a great time.
Great location but do not go all inclusive!
from glumpyangel
Stayed in May, the first week of the season. Was busier than expected. check in went smoothly ad were shown to a room that was clean but was small. There was no lock on the bathroom which seemed bit strange. Balcony was only big enough for one chair and faced a building site so it was not a pleasant and safe and place to sit. Walls were paper thin so expect to be woken up early by people next door. While this was annoying, the roof top pool was lovely, a great view into the sea. The pool was salt water and was absolutely freezing which put us off going in. We were all inclusive and this is not recommended. The food changed every other day so you were eating the same thing. Not recommended for children as there is no safe food such as chips. However as it was very cheap to stay all inclusive this should be expected, and we ate out every night. In saying this, there were no problems in our stay and the location was great. There were lots of restaurants to chose from. Were disappointed by the water park not being open yet. Top tip would be if you were interested in scuba diving not to go through your rep and go into town to the scuba shop and speak to them about local clubs they recommend. I would stay here again but would request a front facing room and would not go all inclusive.
good value hotel in a central location
from suffolkpunch56
The Coral hotel is a large hotel freqented by tour companies. Whilst it appears unattractive from the exterior the room we stayed in was in good decorative order and had a modern bathroom. The dining area was also modern. The pool area and terrace are well situated but a little dated. A good range of food was offered at breakfast but the hot buffet was not hot. What we could not understand was why in a country where oranges are so plentiful and cheap, artificial fruit juices were on offer. Jam also was cheap and nasty. The hotel really should try to source the excellent and good value local produce. On the basis of breakfast we did not take any other meals but there is plenty of choice within easy walking distance. The staff are very friendly and overall this is a good value hotel in a central location. Make sure you ask for a room on a high floor {5, 6 & 7}.
Good Hotel

We stayed one week in middle August. Very nice city, many shops, restaurant and bars. The Hotel doesn't have a private beach (the one in the photos is of the near Hermes Hotel, you have to pay to go there). Nice pool, but impossible to stay there. All tables and sunbeds are always occupied by towels of German people who is never there... The rooms are clean but the maid always arrived not before 2 o' clock. If you want to sleep and relax it's impossible because they knock on the door even if you put the cartel "don't disturb" The buffet is various, during a week there were plates from all over the world and always greek salades and cakes. All the evenings there is something organized, such as musing, parties and traditional greek shows. In total good hotel for a good price in all inclusive treatment. Nice room, good food and good location, 5 minutes walk to the centre. Beaches at Aghios Nikolaos are not very good, go to other cities! Good bye!! p.s. Pay attention parking your car, it's easy to get fines!!!
One of the best in town
from tyrone-lass
This is a lovely hotel, nicely appointed, clean and provides immaculate service. The breakfast is nicely presented and there is planty of variety. (The OJ is a bit watery though). Try to get a room with a sea view if you can. Floors 5,6,and 7 are the best. There aren't enough sunbeds to go round, especially as there is little done to discourage people reserving then as early as 7 a.m., well before breakfast, and not then using then until several hours later - shame on the hotel for allowing this. Would definitely return here
Fab Location and Very Friendly Hotel
from debbielongmuir
My friend and I stayed at the Coral Hotel for a week in July 2006. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and the hotel was very clean and hospitable. We stayed on an all inclusive basis but ate out too. The food in the hotel was average although there was always plenty of it. I can definately recommend the 9 Muses restaurant in the main town (3 Akti Themistokleous Str) it is the best restaurant in town although only open from 6.30pm onwards, worth it though, fab. If I have one criticism it is that there are not enough sundbeds at the hotel, people were putting towels on sunbeds early and not using the facitlity all day. There is a beach across the road with a 7.5 euro charge per day. AG is not a rowdy town but very laid back. The lake is fantastic and having some cocktails in the early evening is what needs to be done. All in all we had a lovely holiday, the weather was amazing. I would like to visit the Chania area of Crete next as its meant to be beautiful. Happy holidays.
The Coral was Great

Stayed in the Coral for 2 weeks, had a great time, would recommend it. We stayed on an all inclusive board, the food was very good, if a little bit continental for British tastes,( but i never had a bad meal and enjoyed them all ). There was not a lot of entertainment in the hotel , the odd greek night and disco in the bar, and not a lot for children, which we were happy with as you did not see any in the hotel. The only down side was the bar staff in the night were not very polite and were lacking a personality!!!. This is only my own opinion, and I would recommend it . I booked it on the net with a company called Sunstar Leisure, who again I would highly recommend ( very cheap ).....
So good that we stayed here three years in a row!

Agios Nikolaos as it is possibly the nicest part of Crete, and the Hotel Coral is fantastic. I am surprised to see only a 2 star rating as it is probably one of the plusher Hotels in Agios Nikolaos. Some hotels in the town are a long walk uphill, but the Coral is in a fantastic location. The Hotel is just across from the sea with the beach, harbour and main part of town just a few minutes walk away. My favourite thing about the hotel is the rooftop swimming pool and bar. The view is outstanding and the poolside service is great. The rooms are very clean and are a good size. They are basic enough but a palace compared to most accommodation in Greece! Most importantly they have air conditioning (but you have to pay extra for this). A buffet breakfast and dinner are included in the price. The breakfast has the usual food you would expect, but I would give the buffet dinner a miss! It is not the best! But that really is the only negative thing that I could say about this hotel. As we didn’t want the dinner included, we got them to reduce the price of our week’s accommodation. I would advise you to try and do this when placing your booking on the phone as there are plenty of good places in the town where you can eat for next to nothing. Also, try to request the rooms that face out onto the main road. That may sound strange but they are better than the ones facing the pool, as you get a fantastic view of the sea and harbour (and don't worry, there isn't much noise from the street level). We loved the Coral so much that we stayed there three years in a row, and it is the perfect place for singles or couples of all ages! I would be very surprised if anyone didn't like this place.
Pleasantly Surprised

Our room was very clean with a view of the ocean and of roof top pool and deck. All rooms have refrigerators and A/C. The manager was nice enough to send us a bottle of Cretan wine and some fresh fruit. The staff was very helpful and friendly. European Breakfast is included with your stay. We would go back again.

Just got back after a week here. Booked this holiday with Olympic after seeing good reviews. However was not impressed at all with the island of Crete (first trip there) is very little of anything there. Anyway on to the hotel, which is advertised as having air con. ... more
