Porto Veneziano Hotel & Suites

We had a wonderful two-night stay in June. Quiet location but close to the action. For 20 euro more we reserved a suite, which has two balconies and a center view. Well worth the extra money. The hotel was terrific and the staff were all so helpful. Plenty of free parking close by too. We were sad to leave and will gladly stay here again if we return to Chania.

We stayed at the Porto Veneziano in Chania for 2 nights in May. This hotel has a wonderful location on the harbor and it was easy to walk to all the sights in Chania that interested us - The old city, the harbor restaurants, Nea Chora Beach, the Archaeological Museum, etc. We especially enjoyed a few hours at Nea Chora Beach where we rented some lounge chairs and a beach umbrella. A great hotel in a lovely town! We loved this place. This hotel is at the quiet end of the harbor (the inner harbor) but easy walking to all the busiest parts of the harbor and old town. We had a rental car and were able to drive right up to the hotel, drop off the luggage, then drive around the block and park the car lin a free parking lot around the corner. We stayed at the Porto Venezanio in May '05 and liked it quite well. Clean and nicely furnished rooms, on the small side but not as small as some other similar European/Greek hotels. Nice balcony, nice view. Breakfast (included) was fairly good, as is typical of European BW properties. We particularly liked the location at the far end of the harbor from most of the hotels and restaurants, which made it quite quiet at night. We stayed for a week in late October 2005-it was raining when we arrived !! Nice room with balcony (but next time we'll make sure we get one at the front)-very well cleaned. Breakfasts were lovely,especially good to have one at 5.30am with fresh coffee before trips out. Reception staff could not have been more helpful. Fine location away from the main harbour. Would return anytime. So many good places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. Chrisdopolous-probably incorrectly spelt-is a must, if it is open during your stay.

We stayed here for 3 nights in early November and loved the hotel. The hotel is on the waterfront and our room had a balcony facing the harbor; since we were on the quiet end of the harbor we were not bothered by any street noise. Our room and bathroom were a good size and the breakfast was the best we had in Greece. They even had fresh sqeezed OJ.

Just came back from 4 nights at the Porto Veneziano. The hotel is located on the quiet side of the harbor which is nice. I was a bit disappointed with the room due to it's size and blandness. The bathroom was so small, I could not close the door of the room from the inside unless I stood in the shower. My room faced out on a side street, and the only view to see was if you stretched your neck out from the side. The staff was pleasant and the breakfast buffet was good. For many years I've traveled to Crete mostly for business but then again on Crete business is nothing if not pleasurable. Without a doubt, this hotel is one of the very best on Crete. The staff are very accomodating, rooms are very good value for the money and the location is excellent.

We just returned from Hania, Crete and stayed here, March 2004. While this considered to be a "higher price" hotel in the area, it's also one of the nicest in a classic European sense. The service is impeccable, the view fantastic, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Hania, is a jewel to visit. The old harbor is beautiful, with breath taking sunsets, marvelous nights, a laid back atmosphere and excellent shopping. During the off-season, it's not too crowded and gives you a chance to get to know the locals and discuss issues of the day.... more

We have stayed at this hotel on three occasions. It is not a package holiday style hotel but a very high quality establishment. Perfectly placed for a stroll beside the harbour into the old town. Surrounded by tavernas. If you can obtain a room at the front of the hotel, the views of the harbour are fantastic with amazing sunsets. The rooms are spacious and air conditioned and very clean.
