Having read an earlier report, I was a bit concerned about what I might discover on arrival. I have to say that I was very impressed with the accommodation. Its budget price stuff. Don’t expect mints on your pillow style luxury. What you get is what you need. Plenty of space, clean and secure and an efficient toilet. There is no air con, or even a fan in the room, but in middle August this was not a problem. The rooms seemed to keep cool. Probably owing to the lack of direct sunshine at mid day/afternoon into the rooms.
Don’t be mislead by any adverts that state a 'sea view'. This will be extremely unlikely unless you are on the top floor. There are no lifts, so you would need to be fairly mobile to enjoy the sea view. One major word of warning is the positioning of the cupboard in the kitchen. Any reasonable health and safety officer would insist on its immediate removal/destruction or repositioning at the very least. If you are over 4ft tall, you WILL hit your head off it at some stage during your holiday!
The poolside facilities are functional. Meals/snacks throughout the day, currency exchange and a bar on site. Currency exchange closes quite early, so don’t go for a nap at 6pm after 3 Estrella Dams, or you will miss the boat. The pool was very clean and well maintained. Despite a multitude of notices forbidding all sorts of behaviour, the mood is very relaxed and kids were enjoying themselves with various games around the pool. There were also some Peter Kay style bombs going into the pool, so don’t sit poolside in your best tweeds. A particular highlight for kids, (and others) was the Crane O Saurus machine at the poolside. This was one of those grab a cuddly toy games that actually worked. For 1 Euro a pop, many a cuddly toy went into my suitcase.
I found the resort to be fairly quiet at night.
The Mistral is not situated in a lively British based resort. If you are up for a party, don’t stay in Playa den Bossa. Only 2 clubs, Bora Bora and Space. Both of these are, however, within walking distance of the Mistral. Ibiza Town is a bus journey away, but again, if you are going for 2 weeks of non stop mayhem, go to San Antonio.
All in all, well worth a budget accommodation holiday.
