Pantheon Palace Beach Hotel

don't read the old reviews, the hotel is reopened in 2009, and it looks fabulous, like a 5stars + hotel. It's a very good choice, you won't regret it!

Crete was one stop on our four island tour and the Pantheon Palace was the low point of our whole trip. We arrived late in the evening to find out that we had a garden view room and not a sea view. Not their fault, but a big let down. What WAS their fault was the state of the room we were given the first night and the nature of the 'garden'. It was a row of palms right under the balcony and an ugly vacant lot opposite. We were told that we could upgrade, for 30 Euros a night, to a VIP room, with private pool. We went to look at it but it was in a neglected looking part of the hotel complex and was very unappealing and really not worth the extra cost. We were given a sea view (at an extra cost) for the other 2 nights, which was a huge improvement. We were on the all inclusive plan but were unable to eat most of the food. We had breakfast in their dining room, but stuck to a boiled egg, an orange and coffee. If we had toast, we had to take the bread from the bottom of the pile because of all the flies around. That was really disgusting. We were fortunate to find an excellent restaurant, Mylos, right down the street so we avoided the hotel as much as we could. The front desk staff was the least friendly we encountered in Greece and the hotel had a really run down, uncared for look to it. We once attempted to get a drink at the bar but gave up after around 10 minutes of being ignored. The staff was very noisy early in the morning while cleaning outside. To be fair, I have to say the beds were comfortable and the young girl that did the housekeeping in our room was very nice. That's the best I can say about this hotel.
