Residenza Al Doge Beato

What a marvelous find!! I found this hotel/bed and breakfast on venere.com, but searched the web for reviews then booked directly with the hotels website. The directions to the hotel were somewhat confusing, but anyone who has been to Venice knows there are no straight streets to anywhere! The desk clerk stayed at the hotel until we arrived and had his cell phone on him in case we got lost, which luckily we did not. Located in a nice quiet square but with some lovely bars and restaurants nearby. 10mins to Rialto, 10 mins to station. Hotel staff were very friendly. Breakfast basic but ok. The double superior room we stayed in was very big (didnt expect this in Venice) and the hotel / rooms were very clean. Overall great stay and would go back.

Found this B&B on Venere.com and ended up booking directly with them via their web site. Response was prompt and price seemed right for the room we got. We stayed in their large room called Jr Suite. Not 2 rooms, but large with very high ceiling and a sitting area. Fabric covered walls with parquet wood floors. The repeat the prior reviewer's sentiments, there are still some quirks related to the renovations still taking place in the public spaces of the building, but all else inside the B&B's floor is brand new. This B&B is placed in a very nice and quite area (Santa Croce) far away from awfully crowded places like Rialto or San Marco surroundings but very close to two vaporetto stops (S. Stae and Riva di Biaso) and a short walk from everywhere. The B&B is difficult to find because there is no visible sign in the building wich is being renovated (or something like that) and it looks like nobody lives there. It was wonderful, staff very very helpful. Breakfast was wonderful, fresh cappicinos and lattes! Very very clean!
