Casa Delfino Hotel Suites

We were contacted 14 hours prior to our Easter booking. Be aware that you may be fully paid with confirmation but they may double book and you may be sent somewhere else. The hotel is over rated -- no view, shower is revolting, dark and tiny, rooms too light, curtains not lined to prevent early morning light. Can't imagine the room in summer heat! We thoroughly researched where we wanted to stay in Crete and were not disappointed. Casa Delfino is a lovely, well run, well located choice. Our room (14) was tastefully done in marble, wood and fine furnishings. Our very comfortable bed was on the open upper level along with a large wardrobe and tv. The sitting area, a desk and one washroom were on the main level which also had a very comfortable stuffed chair, little reading lamp and table up on a little platform perched a few steps higher up. We rented two rooms at the Delfino--the Honeymoon suite and the Penthouse suite. Both were beyond our expectations and certainly what you would expect from the best five-star hotels. They were large and luxurious and the service was excellent. The Penthouse suite was on two levels with two large bathrooms, living room, bedroom and rooftop balcony overlooking the harbor. The Honeymoon suite was huge with soaring ceilings and a fantasy bathroom. The breakfast buffet offered something for everyone and was served in a delightful courtyard.... more

We were very pleased with our 3 night stay at the start of our Honeymoon in September 2006 at Casa Delfino. We loved having breakfast in the courtyard. We had no view in our room of the harbour as we faced the courtyard and the bonus of that was that it was very quiet at night! We got great sleeps. The location is fantastic - tons of shops, restaurants and the harbour to explore within steps of the hotel. The downsides - the bathroom took a bit of getting used to. The place was okay. Decent rooms, good location. But the shower was something I couldn't come to terms with. It was a tiny tiny square with no space to move and the water overflows everywhere. We stayed there for 5 nights and this was very inconvenient. The only other option we had for upgrading was a penthouse suite for twice the amt we were paying.

Casa delfino is a palace converted into a hotel in the old town in Chania. It has a beautiful courtyard with a delightful breakfast buffet. The rooms are stunning, unique and special though the bathrooms are typical odd European setups. The staff is not friendly but they are not extremely unpleasant. The location is superb and central to all the tourist attractions. It is the finest hotel in town and well worth the price.

My wife and I just stayed there for our honeymoon. The hotel rooms are nice, and the location was amazing. The breakfast could be better, but ok. The only issue I had was that the AC did not work very well, and they could not fix it since they said that was how it was built. I still don't understand that answer. However, It was not a mjaor problem since they gave us a fan, and it was not too hot at night. If you stay there in very hot weather, it could be a potential problem. The hotel is beautiful and the location is great. The courtyard is very pretty--with a lovely pebble mosaic--and the stairwells are in gorgeous marble. Our bathroom was nice with good water pressure and plenty of hot water--which was great after hiking the Samaria Gorge. The woman at the front desk was extremely helpful and, although we arrived late in the day, she made very good arrangements for us to go on a private bus to the gorge. No, you cannot park at the hotel but I am pretty sure this is the case for all of the hotels in this... more

We visited Hania in April 2006. Casa Delfino was our second choice because Trip Advisor favourites Palazzo di Pietro said they wouldn't take bookings for less than a week (we actually discovered they weren't open at all this early in the season). We chose a deluxe suite with jacuzzi which didn't have a sea view but looked out onto their pretty courtyard. The room was fine, the staff helpful. We had a lovely time. On our honeymoon in Crete, my husband I stayed at this beautiful hotel. It is true the taxi can't drive you to the door, however, we arranged for the hotel to send a taxi driver to pick us up at the airport, and he was very gracious in driving us as close to the hotel as possible and even carried our bags to the hotel from there. So for those of you who aren't interested in walking (a very short 1/2 block) then you could always do the same.
