Hotel Plateros

Yep I do admit the hotel took quite a bit of navigation and lots of perserverance to find (to the guys at the electronics store along the main road: THANKS MILS!) but it was worth it. The hotel is just around the corner from the Archaelogy Museum and the Mezquita, and with the detailed map from the hotel owner it is actually quite easy to get around the rest of the tourist sites too. This hotel looked good, based on the reviews below, but when we stayed for two nights in March we encountered two problems. Good stuff first; the location of the hotel is wonderful, the owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are clean and perfectly adequate. But now the problems. First, the hotel is extraordinarily difficult to find if you are arriving by car, even with the owner's directions, a detailed map, and four people looking out for street names. Hotel Plateros is a perfect place to stay. Our room was reasonably spacious, was cosy, very clean & good air-con. To add, the staff were friendly, helpful but spoke little English which might be an issue for some. The tapas on sale in the attached bar/restaurant are superb, give the prawns in garlic tapas a go - it was the best one we had on our trip! & the location very good. It's close to a plaza where the bus stopped from the train/bus station. It was located in a pedestrianised part of the old town... more
