An absolute gem!
What a great location! Right near the San Toma ferry stop. We were delighted after having travelled to find it so easily. It was also fantastic value for money. Marco was a wonderful host - leaving out a breakfast for us when we had to depart in the small hours of the morning. Given it's close vicinity to the Grand Canal, it was very quiet - except for the odd Italian opera wafting through the window - and who can complain about that? Small room, not one to spend a lot of time in it - but why would you want to when you're in... more
Lovely room and good value
This was the best room we had on our Europe trip. Clean comfortable room with big windows (street view). Just steps from the San Toma stop which is a short ride from the main station. You can actually walk to St. Mark's square if you know your way (buy a map from the tourist shop). Marco and Gloria run a charming B&B (though they don't talk much) and we enjoyed our one night stay very much (for once I wanted to stay longer in a hotel). Enjoy Venice and do make a trip to one of the islands (Murano). Do drink the water (even tap... more
Best Kept Secret in Venice
Excellent! Don't miss it, it's a tiny sign on the door that we missed 3 times before finding the B&B. If you are looking for cheaper accomodations in Venice, book here as we paid 66E/nt for a Private Room with Air Conditoning and Private Bath (next to the room). Both were extremely clean and excellent sizes for European room & bathroom. The only negative was when you first open to door to your room it smelled a little (not sure what). Once in the room you don't smell anything, but with everything else so great, this was negligible. Marco is... more
Loved the Apartment
Stayed here with my husband & another couple from oz. We stayed in the Soler flat which is on the ground floor of the b&b. We couldn't fault the place & Marco is a lovely host. The place is close to the museums, shopping, the vaporetto, and across from a chocolatier. As we were staying in the flat we didn't think our breakfast provisions would be topped up each day. This was fantastic ! The place is excellent value for money in Venice I would definately recommend this place to others.
A Little Piece of Heaven
If I am ever fortunate enough to visit Venice again, I will certainly stay at Al Campaniel. My room with ensuite bathroom was immaculately clean and very charming (I especially loved the well kept windowboxes). While small, (typical size for B&B rooms in Italy) my room at Al Campaniel provided for a very relaxing stay in Venice. Marco was awesome. He even had a bottle of champagne chilled and waiting for us, as we arrived for the first leg of our honeymoon. He serves a modest breakfast - corn flakes, (prepackaged?) croissants, toast,... more
Great location and impeccable B&B
My friend and I stayed here 4 nights. We were on our first visit to Venice and found it on the internet along with recommendations from the internet. We were not disappointed! We always stay in B&Bs when we travel & love to be in the areas away from the "typical" tourist attarctions so we can interact with the local people. Al Campaniel is right off the San Toma vaporetto stop and extremely convenient to all Venice sightseeing including the chocolate shop across the way! I loved the feeling of being in a neighborhood but close to all we... more
Competitively priced B&B - best value in Venice
My family (two parents 60+ and two adult daughters) made Venice our final stop in Italy this month (1/06) and were delighted to find such an elegant, English-style B&B steps away from the S. Toma vaporetto stop. The proprietor, Marco, has a finely-tuned sense of detail and service. A Roman by birth, his career led to him London for several years before he settled in Venice; I was surprised to learn he wasn’t a native English speaker. The rooms were impeccably maintained, as was the breakfast room on the second floor, and tea making... more
Stay here when in Venice!
Wow, what a great B&B. The owner, Marco, was very friendly and gracious, spoke excellent English. The location is great, near a vaparetto stop, only a 5 min. walk to the Santa Lucia train station, and only about 10-15 min. walk to Piazza San Marco. The hotel and rooms are immaculate and recently rennovated. Marco upgraded us to a room with it's own bathroom for free because it was empty. The room had a remote-controlled air conditioner, a little seating area, and the bathroom is one I could only wish for! The breakfast was very nice as... more
