Casa Rezzonico

Casa Rezzonico was a great find. Very basic rooms (no tv, radio) but very clean and the largest (newest) shower we had on our trip to Italy. This was one of the few places that would allow us to book a room during "high season" and did not require a 2 night min. stay. Plus the rate was good. A good location, not right in the middle of things but close enough to walk to most attractions. The front desk personnel were very friendly. Only complaint is that they did not take credit cards (cash only), which isn't too unusual in Italy.

This is a conveniently located hotel, somewhat easy to find once you've found it the first time (which is a big deal in Venice, it seems). The room was okay, but nothing special. Not particularly large, compared to the other three hotels we visited on this trip. That in itself wouldn't be a huge deal. The problems came in the bathroom. First, the toilet seat wasn't attached to the toilet. All but one of the four required screws were missing. Venice is crazy and bustling, which is why Casa Rezzonico's private garden is a quiet haven for guests. However, our room was on the ground floor with no view, and was pretty dark and dank, especially when it was pouring rain. If you elect to stay at Rezzonico, make sure you get a room on the upper floor facing the garden. Breakfasts were lovely and the garden was wonderful. We stayed here in July 2004 for 4 nights and found it to be excellent. The rooms were immaculately clean (I believe it was recently renovated) and the bathroom was large and spotless. There is an armoire to store your things. I am a picky traveller and I loved this hotel. Breakfast (pastries, juice, cereal, etc) is served in the dining area or the garden each morning and it is so peaceful and quiet. This accomodation is definately a silent getaway from the maddening crowds of Venice. Our room was very large with great beds. The bathroom was spotless, large & the best large shower of our trip. Our room overlooked the grassy, lovely landscaped courtyard where we had breakfast each morning & wine every afternoon. To some travelers this location might not be centered close enough to all the main attractions but I would never consider staying anywhere else due to the peace & quiet it offered.

This hotel is super clean and has wonderful bathrooms! My room overlooked the canal, so it was very charming. The continental breakfast was adequate. The location is great. The price was incredibly low, so this was a definite find!
