Three Swans Hotel

We booked last minute and were offered a great "spring offer" DBB rate. The room with disabled facilities was great - a proper wet room which if anything with its heated floor and towel rail was too warm in the hot weather. It will be fantastic in winter though. The room was large with a huge wardrobe, very comfortable chair, comfy beds and a good supply of tea, coffee & biscuits. All the satff were very friendly, smiling and chatty. Stayed here with wife for one night whilst attending family reunion so did not take an evening meal at the hotel. Hotel has been tastefully modernised but original features have been retained - the main building is is an old converted coaching inn so expect leaning walls, creaky floors and low ceilings. I visited this hotel with a large group of friends for a wedding. I was able to look at several rooms, including a superior room, which was very much set up for disabled visitors and didn't have a bath. Not worth the extra money. The other rooms I saw including my own were comfortable, although plain and unimaginative. My bathroom had a sloping ceiling meaning you couldn't stand and shower, someone else in our party had the same problem. After visiting this hotel a few times previously for drinks and being faced with very surly staff, we faced the challenge of an overnight stay with an open mind. The downstairs area is very clean and pleasant but the food and drink is very overpriced. We checked in and the hotel wouldn't process our payment until checkout. Not even a swipe of our debit card.
